so in this video I'm going to show you a
0:01
quick and simple way of painting
0:03
stormcaster tunnels it's one of the ways
0:04
I pick my own stormcast like I said it's
0:07
very quick very easy and it means you
0:09
get more models on the battlefield
0:10
quicker to slaughter your enemies which
0:13
is a bonus now as always I'm going to
0:15
start off by undercoating the models
0:17
with a spray paint now if you don't have
0:18
a spray paint that's fine you can always
0:20
use whatever undercoat you've got and
0:21
then just base coat it with a gold or a
0:23
silver and if you have a airbrush you
0:24
can do that as well now in this guy I'm
0:26
going to do two versions one from a gold
0:28
on the Cotton wool from a silver
0:29
undercoat and then we'll take you
0:31
through some steps on like shading them
0:32
and highlighting them basically what
0:34
we're going to do is just reverse the
0:35
scheme from the silver to the gold one
0:37
after that just follow the rest of the
0:39
guide and do all the other details like
0:41
the leather the cloth the face Etc now
0:43
our first example is using a lead
0:44
Belcher undercoat and from this we'll be
0:46
picking out the goal details using 8K
0:48
interactive bronze most of the trim and
0:51
sculpted shoulder pads and knee pads so
0:53
just check over the model if you're not
0:54
sure now the reason why I've used AK
0:56
interactive bronze is it matches the
0:57
color scheme perfectly for the gold I
0:59
used on my in collection now I was a bit
1:01
naughty I mixed paint I know I know I
1:03
mixed paint I got some red meter arm and
1:06
Iron and Steel and made the perfect sort
1:07
of Liberator gold kind of tone now
1:10
Liberty Gold's a fine color for layering
1:12
that's not great for base coating
1:13
however AK interactive bronze is perfect
1:15
and just matches it identically so
1:17
there's no mixing required now from our
1:19
gold undercoat which is retributed armor
1:21
what we're going to do now is just pick
1:22
out any silver details with iron hand
1:23
steel again we're looking at picking out
1:25
the trim sculpting shoulder pads Etc
1:30
now to add some detail and definition
1:32
and also age to the gold or silver arm
1:34
depending which one you're going with
1:35
we're going to be coating the entire
1:37
model with Griff Challenger gray now be
1:39
mindful you will start to pull near the
1:41
bottom just get a brush dry it off and
1:43
soak off any excess now I am coating
1:45
this all over the model and you'll
1:46
notice I'm placing it onto the robes as
1:48
well that's fine because when you spray
1:50
with metallic sometimes you can have a
1:51
bit of an oily finish so what this is
1:53
going to do is just add a little bit of
1:55
I guess grip to those base paints when
1:57
you start applying them after now what
1:58
we're going to do is highlight both that
2:00
gold and silver in one dry brush and
2:02
we're using stormy silver here so all
2:03
we're going to do is just gently brush
2:05
that over those details so it's more of
2:06
a light dry brush I'd like to say we're
2:09
going to tickle it that's what we're
2:10
going to do within a tickle the model
2:12
with a dry brush
2:14
[Music]
2:20
so this is where the differences end
2:22
between our models or the next steps are
2:24
completely the same so we're focusing on
2:26
the silver guy next up is to pick out
2:28
the cloth and for this we'll be using
2:30
mccrangblue so I want to do is do a
2:32
couple of layers of a crack look over
2:34
the skirts of this model as well as this
2:41
for the weapon hats we'll be using
2:43
Barrack burgundy now the weapon house
2:45
will vary from model to model it might
2:46
be a spear it might be a hammer this
2:48
guy's a big double-handed Amber so
2:50
there's a lot more of it sharing for all
2:51
the black leather details such as the
2:53
belts and undersuits we should just be
2:54
applying that with black Legion once
2:57
that's dry I am not going to touch the
2:59
black or the belts again
3:02
now for the skin tones you can use
3:04
whatever skin tone you want in this
3:05
particular one I'm going to be using
3:06
blood Reaver flesh just going to do a
3:08
couple of coats over that skin which
3:09
would character over the skin of a base
3:11
coat we're going to use some Gundam and
3:12
flesh now for this particular skin tone
3:14
I'm just going to use it straight from
3:15
the pot if you go for a lighter one you
3:16
might want to do a couple of thin coats
3:18
of it instead just to build up a subtle
3:19
definition
3:20
[Music]
3:23
going back to Griff charger gray we're
3:25
going to shade the blue cloak and any
3:26
other metallic elements that might need
3:28
some more definition well the gold
3:30
writing on his leg
3:32
[Music]
3:34
to give our blades or hammers a nice
3:37
azerite glow all we're going to do here
3:39
is get some Frost Art straight from the
3:40
pot and apply it over
3:43
[Music]
3:47
I'm running gems again these will vary
3:49
from model to model all I'm going to do
3:51
is just pick those out we've all red
3:52
again straight from the pot now we've
3:54
got some base coats shade and a little
3:55
bit of a highlight on the armor on our
3:56
model they're pretty much ready for the
3:58
tabletop all we need to do is base them
4:00
up and we're just going to go for like a
4:01
bit of a masonry and dirty feel on this
4:04
particular model we have some sculpted
4:05
detail and you'll find this on some of
4:07
the stormcast models across the range in
4:09
this particular one we're going to do is
4:10
just pick out that masonry mechanica
4:12
standard Gray
4:13
next up is to apply aggronurf over those
4:15
detection details that's just the dirt
4:16
surrounding this base here we use that
4:18
neat straight from the pot and then I
4:20
just need to give it around about an
4:21
hour or so to dry out
4:24
I'm also be applying a thin down coat of
4:25
this over the gray masonry as that will
4:27
settle in quite nicely and give it a
4:29
sense of age
4:30
[Music]
4:36
now we shall apply a good little flesh
4:38
over the angle and Earth texture add
4:40
some definition to that too I'm just
4:41
going to feather it in a little bit with
4:43
an old dry brush here just to give it a
4:45
bit more gradient
4:47
and last of all we're just going to Rim
4:50
the base with three thin coats of Steel
4:52
Legion drab and this will give it a nice
4:54
smooth finish
4:55
and as you can see our quick and easy
4:56
way of painting the Stone Castle turn
4:58
off is got them ready for the table top
4:59
so they're all based they've got some
5:00
base coats on them some hearts so great
5:02
now if you are enjoying this video don't
5:04
forget to hit the Subscribe and the like
5:07
button and we also have a patreon as
5:10
well so do support us on that because
5:11
that helps keep the lights on keeps me
5:14
infused with e however if you want to
5:16
take your storm Caster tail to the next
5:18
level then stay tuned now this is mainly
5:20
for like things like Sergeant unit
5:21
Champions and characters but if you've
5:23
got time and you've played War crawl at
5:25
me don't want all of them because it
5:27
makes me look Mega so let's crack on
5:29
with that now to bring some shine back
5:31
to our metallics what we're going to do
5:32
is just gently wash over with a thin
5:34
down cone firstly of gold so again
5:37
that's just it's kind of like a tidy up
5:38
stage but just on some of the rate
5:40
sections so you're not having to get in
5:41
all those recesses so do that with the
5:43
gold first I'm going to do the same on
5:45
the silver sections as well
5:49
[Music]
5:54
[Music]
5:59
foreign
6:02
steel highlight the edges of the hammer
6:04
to bring back some of that metallic
6:06
shine and redefine the shape
6:10
now we're going to do is get some
6:12
acrylic blue and just tidy up those
6:13
robes just to add a bit more punch to
6:15
that blue
6:20
[Music]
6:26
and then for action definition we're
6:28
going to highlight those over with
6:30
cowgirl
6:31
again just be mindful try and get your
6:33
brush to a nice point where possible
6:35
[Music]
6:47
for the skin we're just going to tidy up
6:49
those raised areas as well again here
6:50
what I'm going to be using is the base
6:51
color again to tidy up and as you can
6:53
see it's giving it a nice highlight but
6:54
if you want to use a lighter Towing more
6:56
than welcome to
6:59
and then we're just going to put some
7:00
black Legion into those eyes and also
7:03
just drop them into his mouth as well
7:05
now this last bit is completely optional
7:07
all I'm going to be doing here is
7:09
getting some typhus corrosion just
7:10
weathering up the robes and also from
7:11
the knee downwards on the armor again
7:13
I'm going to thin it down in some places
7:15
I'm just going to weather it and stout
7:17
and as you can see on the cloak I'm just
7:18
starting to blend that once I've applied
7:20
it neat for the part get a little brush
7:21
and just feather in a little bit
7:26
[Music]
7:31
and there we are we've taken our
7:32
stonecaster tillers to the next level
7:33
added a few details now again if you're
7:35
short on time or you just don't want to
7:36
just keep it to characters or just leave
7:38
them as they are I mean it's nice to
7:40
have it on characters because it makes
7:41
them Rock in the best outfits so entire
7:44
up to you personal
7:46
no no I'm not going to come knocking on
7:48
your door why they're not highlighted
7:50
them Dave why haven't I highlighted them
7:53
Dave now I have a whole bunch of links
7:54
in the description we also have a nice
7:56
paint list in the description so you can
7:58
follow along with all the paints that
7:59
we've used well I hope you found this
8:01
video enjoyable and again don't forget
8:02
to hit the like And subscribe button we
8:04
also have a patreon channel as well so
8:06
there's a spot on that will be super
8:07
awesome again keeping the lights on keep
8:09
it as hydrated also we're getting loads
8:11
of cool extra content like Discord we've
8:13
got all sorts of extra little behind the
8:15
scenes and also if you really want to
8:17
paint repeated for two hours well I hope
8:20
you've enjoyed this video I'm off to be
8:22
reforged into something more Superior
8:24
and better apparently a painter that
8:27
doesn't use paint straight from the pot
8:29
apparently that's bad so I love you all
8:31
see you later bye
