hey I'm peachy we've got a few outtakes
0:07
hey I'm peachy and I'm Patrick and in this episode I'm challenging him to a
0:13
speed painting competition for other fools [Music]
0:21
The Craft on unknown world and the game moonbreaker for sponsoring this video Moon breaker is now available for Early
0:27
Access on Steam so check out the link in the description now we were given free access to the game and they are
0:33
sponsoring this video so a painting competition with you peachy I'm obviously not gonna
0:38
fight fair why would you because I want to win I'm going for blood
0:44
um I want to have the exact same skill set as you do and I think the only way we
0:49
can do that I'm very fortunate for us Moon breaker got in touch and they have
0:55
a painting element to their game yeah that I want to use to see with the same skill set who is better me
1:03
or you well I mean like you say Level Playing Field I can't use a mouse to save my life so you can be you can have
1:10
a steadier paintbrush arm I reckon in this you know maybe my [ __ ] maybe shaking maybe shaky I've always wanted
1:16
to dry brush like like peachy so um now I'm going to be able to which is fantastic
1:21
um the only thing that works in your favor is you know 20 years experience and and all of that knowledge about
1:27
paints and what works well together and you're going to be massively disappointed because I'm just gonna wash
1:32
the whole lot of driver of [ __ ] if this is a speed painting competition
1:38
and it's a Level Playing Field I'm gonna fight dirty and I am going to be heavily
1:43
inspired by other people's work right should we get on with it let's do it right 45 minutes each we've got the same
1:51
miniature I think Peach is up first start the clock so we both got the same miniature we've got broken Vengeance I'm gonna
1:57
crack on with mine now now Pat's gonna be doing the same thing we've got 45 minutes to do this so a bit of stress
2:03
there but I'm gonna start first I think I'm gonna airbrush the whole thing with black dry brush or Grace oh my Leathers are done so that's boots belts and stuff
2:09
like that and then I'm going to get on the route maybe a rogue Trader say like Janice Drake something along those lines
2:15
um and yeah we'll see how it goes color wise I've got an idea I might not go too full on yeah this Drake I might move a
2:21
bit so I might even go eventually nobleesque but I'm definitely gonna paint that little teddy bear puppy thing with a Shrek there's no doubt about it
2:28
painted Shrek so I'm going to crack on first of all let's get the undercoat on song and go I think charcoal
2:40
think we're almost all covered it's like super dark now can a sea of
2:47
dry brushed let's get some light on there [Music]
2:54
all right let's go whites let's go paint let's go
3:00
a little bit more page and then
3:06
that's all I'm doing is I go for like the white trousers I might do some stripes on depend on time I don't feel
3:12
like a nice sort of royal blue jacket obviously we've got the little baby Shrek picked out there as well there's some other details out there and stuff
3:18
and like like the thing on the shoulder and so I'll come to those in a bit but I'm just going to do like the body arm
3:23
and the straps pick those out in black with a wash as well and then I think I might dry brush that fair pick out his skin maybe do that thing on
3:30
his shoulder gold and then I'll have a play around with doing some fancy schmancy sort of maybe stripes or
3:36
something that on him obviously pick his beard out as well although I'm getting bit and be looking at the guy so yeah I'm gonna crack on
3:42
drivers in that cloak and then see where we go from there [Music]
3:58
well I've added some Golds I've been a little glowy as well I realized I dry rushed over some elabor so I've just
4:04
tugged that up as well so what I'm going to do now is be able to skin get the skin done to the hair and then I'll take it from there I've got about 30 minutes
4:10
left um so I'm probably just gonna get a bit sitting and do some detail work and then
4:16
regret it instantly because it takes an age but I want to put some blood splatter on and I don't know where to do
4:21
that all I need to do is good as well I forgot about it's good so yeah that's where I'm at the moment done those things happy with them might be a bit
4:26
more of a shade on the gold but we'll see [Music] foreign [Music]
5:08
this is a man who's doing some fine talk right now you wait till you're on it well I want that haircut I want the hair
5:25
three two one and up done done done
5:31
so there we are there's my version of yanis Drake so I am going up
5:38
in a head-to-head painting competition with probably one of the most experienced miniature painters out there
5:44
so instead of viewing this as a competition what I am going to do instead is view this as just a way of
5:51
confessing my love for a certain space Sheriff played by Timothy Oliphant
6:02
Peach is in the same room and he's hackling me he's fighting Santa Claus
6:09
I'm not painting Father Christmas
6:14
one thing that is frustratingly like real life with this is it's so easy to
6:20
miss parts of the miniature oh I haven't done any of his back
6:26
[Music] uh what's a good glow oh Panic red I
6:33
think that's quite fitting how I feel at the moment [Music]
6:42
okay Christmas man Christmas man everyone loves Christmas man
6:52
he's doing well he's doing okay I think this is where it
6:58
could all go wrong I need to wash him and then there's a load of stippling that I want to try and do on the armor
7:03
as well wash everywhere massive brush I'm gonna take off auto mask so it just
7:10
does everything 50 opacity what can possibly go wrong
7:17
attack oh look at that beautiful [Music]
7:24
might have no oh yes yes I have overdone
7:29
it yes you just continue washed down mate
7:36
I'm being heckled I'm being heckled you're stifling my creativity beat you
7:41
[Music] have I given him a green foot
7:48
a dry brush over it no one will notice okay so I've got 22 minutes left I've
7:56
just realized I've painted his trousers the wrong color um so I'm gonna wash them
8:01
[Music] I feel like I've reached the uh limit of
8:08
my abilities I'm like I've got time left I just don't know what to do
8:35
the ultimate ultimate Flex is gonna get a hazard cable on his gun
8:49
what can I do what on Earth can I actually do I'm just gonna make it a different color
9:34
keep this belt buckle I hate it so much driver [ __ ] that would not knock all the
9:40
cutters driver shoot with what [Music] no yeah that's better so that's better
9:51
hey well Pat that went well I I 45 minutes Define well well I got all the colors on
9:58
yes they're in the right places kinda kind of kinda kind of yes lodges here and there
10:03
um what I did find was really interesting is um the the ability to when you make a
10:10
mistake into undo I I think that I the button I hit the most was the undo
10:16
button I'll do the debate where you just see me undo it so much it freezes or at least
10:23
that was on yours but yeah no it was really good I mean you know if I'm playing the game as the game yeah yeah I
10:29
I think I could get stuck down a rabbit hole of just coloring in models yes because there's plenty of computer games out there where I like customized yeah
10:35
yeah yeah yeah not only did I find it like just fun to do and you could go I
10:40
mean look at it the way that they've done that you can go right oh yeah like whoever painted the defaults key I know
10:48
some fine motor skills there yeah I mean they didn't paint those in 45 minutes did they we don't know they found out
10:55
they did for my own ego they definitely did the pain them in 45 minutes [Laughter]
11:01
so you you had the same time as me you feel you did all right um it what I
11:09
absolutely loved about doing that was you know it is comparable to painting a
11:14
real miniature um like I put my base colors on I washed it I went to town with a dry brush and I
11:20
had you know a painted miniature um pretty quick and then and then I
11:26
think you know probably to the detriment of the model I probably should have just made a cup of tea um went around adding embellishments oh
11:34
which which well yeah let's let's go through and let's dissect our our miniature shelves
11:42
well here we are Pat here is mine uh a little bit based on jaina's Drake or
11:47
Jana strake from uh kill team but I'm not killed in Blackstone Fortress I like Blackstone pool just I think I sold out
11:53
a bit because I went down the easy route a little bit of Simplicity here and there got a bit of blue jacket got a bit of
12:00
ventrillion vibe there with some white trousers oh yes as you can see some tiger stripes on the uh on the fur there
12:08
I did try this gun to do that like heat effect and I failed miserably I mean it
12:15
kind of like black to purple to kind of orange it just it just looks a big man
12:21
I can I can testify painting the end of that gun painting anything
12:27
around was was difficult at least that it made mine look like a cow's order that's all I'm saying
12:35
yeah I mean I went down my for this if we're like gonna Bridge it went down the route of the sort of army painting
12:41
technique which was to yep do it all over dry brush doing all over wash a bit more of a dry brush so that was like all
12:47
the black leather kind of covered and then I started like filling in and obviously with moonbreaker there are
12:53
sections you don't realize maybe the same color when you you like mask off an
12:58
area so you can might like say his trousers your mask off as trousers you paint those all wide yeah sometimes with the leather bits you go I'm gonna do all
13:03
the leather bits paint those all black and then there's something else oh I was not expected had to go yet you can see I went down the dirty green got muddy boom
13:11
got mud now here is the thing I mean obviously we mentioned this when I do it is the more you zoom out the tool gets
13:18
smaller so the tool stays the same size yeah when you zoom in obviously you get smaller
13:23
but the smaller they set when you do the stipple means the smaller the spots the bigger the effect I just thought it just
13:29
means it will cover it more but it doesn't it makes their spots bigger so I had to make the uh the effects the the
13:35
tool itself much much smaller yeah to get like lots of splatters I think that's worked really nicely like you've
13:41
got a legit fade from being like super mud all the way up to a little bit up to
13:48
the black at the top so I think as as far as that goes that's that's brilliant like the Leathers work really really
14:00
children uh it died uh horribly [Laughter]
14:06
I mean you you went green too so don't don't yeah so the thing I I found about
14:11
this was just that you look at the one they've painted themselves and they've gone so to turn with it it's really well
14:17
done I I just went I and it's it's ice spacing down this is
14:22
like okay oh me I just blood blood
14:29
and the only thing I found really tricky and it threw me I wasn't expecting and you you obviously were expecting this
14:35
because you watched me first was when I did his hair and his skin the beard was the same mask as the skin yes so I had
14:41
to hear a pain that I was sadly so I kind of like this phone I'll just fill in a bit of area great and then I'll just dry brush over the whole face with
14:47
the same color yeah I hope Titan I mean that you you did that really really well I'm
14:53
looking at this close-up of his face now I don't think I painted his teeth
14:58
um I'm quite I'm quite eager to see what color what color teeth are in his eye I
15:03
gave him some eyeliner give him a little bit of pretty eyeliner yeah so it's called guy liner guy like I think it was
15:08
a guy liner the only eyebrows you've got a cool glowy yeah get big blow he's got
15:15
somebody's shoulder paddling gold for the shoulder pads there's I I did pick out his his lips a bit as well when it
15:21
went in with his lips yeah again having that palette just mixing a bit of red to a bit of fleshes and stuff as well just
15:27
really cool yeah it's awesome like like I think you you're right like you you played it
15:34
safe I did play it very safe because you played unsafe but it's like it's really clean
15:40
um and and the colors work really well together um so like I think all of the practice
15:45
that you've had doing this in real life and being an artist um like even though even though I've
15:51
tried to level the playing field by you know the tech the the painting techniques we have using this uh uh
15:58
identical um you know your your skill unfortunately is the case may be for me
16:06
um still comes through I think this this Tiger Strike fur was a ball that was a ball move if you do it you I
16:14
I was watching you do that and I was like and you know the final driver ties it
16:22
together yeah yeah yeah that's it I mean I mean we need to talk about my uh belt buckle yet
16:29
I like your phone before I like to get give like Vibes of like uh Rock from the
16:34
seaside um but if you go back to the cloak oh no the thing I'd do naturally for my own
16:39
painting is I would paint the cloak probably give it a wash and a dry brush and then I'd get like a flat sort of contrast or paint really thin it down so
16:46
in this case I'd probably use like black Legion yeah um thin it down and do the tiger straps because it's going to do
16:51
all the shading and highlighting for you and then maybe a little dry brush over the whole lot to tie it all together
16:57
because the dry brush over both the the black tiger stripes or as it is there like a dark blue and over the third
17:03
helped tie together is the same texture so yeah same material so that's just following the process I mean it could be
17:08
neater we could argue about that with guns a good metal try to get silver yeah that's just not look at that what's
17:15
that what's that adults blood out of place I mean I've seen some of my videos back mate and I keep finding like bits
17:21
of like green on like the necrons and stuff so it's just my signature just to leave a bit of paint that's that's there
17:26
yeah um but yeah I mean if I have to go back I'd do most of the same I might do like pinstraps down his trousers and a
17:32
different colored jacket maybe yeah I think that blue ties in too much with the clay but he's
17:39
he's counting I mean wait wait until they see uh bobber how how uh sorry no
17:45
no that's not Bob roses Timothy off or Timmy moving on to my uh Ode to Timothy
17:54
yeah yeah immediately flicking between the two I think I I did well my all over
18:00
wash um I think is his his uh covered up lots
18:06
of sins as it does in real life absolutely you know if if you're struggling with your painting just wash
18:12
it that's how I do it um if we again flip between the two I
18:17
think your color placement is a little bit better because that red and green helps break up the shape a bit more my
18:23
blue makes it a bit of a shapeless Mass around his top but you're you're red and green so you're you're red fur cloak and
18:29
your green armor actually work quite well together I mean yeah you could argue that you read tunics are same as
18:36
the third but I don't know I think it breaks up yeah I I well I immediately
18:42
um knowing what I was getting myself into um I you know I don't know what colors
18:48
look uh look great next to each other I don't I don't have that skill but you know who does have the skill
18:54
massive companies that spend millions and millions of pounds on producing TV
19:00
shows and I was like hey I'm gonna be inspired by yeah uh the the costume
19:05
design uh of Timothy elephant because you know he's at his best when he's playing a sheriff yeah
19:12
um especially especially when he's in space wearing Bounty Under Armor yes of
19:17
course um so essentially with this one yeah I try to
19:23
base all of my colors in um accidentally made the gun
19:29
look like another and some dinner sponsored content we'll leave it there
19:38
washed it really heavily um and then and then basically at the
19:43
end thought to myself um right what what else can I do and then
19:50
this is where I started potentially needlessly embellishing the model with
20:03
I've no idea um it was meant to be an anchor yeah um yeah so
20:09
um I I gave him a little sheriff badge which on close inspection doesn't actually look like right so we'll just
20:14
oh no he's he's got two Sheriff badges and then he's actually got a green one here so we just ignore that
20:19
um and that's fine maybe the deputies he's served with one was really green and didn't deserve
20:25
beer from there until they were um that I I had to go with the stippling
20:31
because um like the the armor that he's wearing his super old it's it's been in a acidic
20:37
pit for God knows how long yeah yeah Sandy Planet so the yellow was totally
20:42
worn off and I had to go with the stippling brush and um I think I'll be the first to say
20:48
completely blocked it um I like I like the effect I I think it feels all over maybe yeah yeah maybe I
20:55
just didn't didn't go far enough yeah uh because I was thinking like yeah this was like when I was running out of time
21:01
towards the end um uh yeah oh did I paint his teeth that is a big question I think there might
21:07
have already been under code for you I like it I like how his lips are the same color as his beard though that's a nice touch oh oh no it's a better flash that
21:17
you got a bit of Life coming back his bottom one's all right top one the shadow yeah highlighting right there
21:23
yeah yeah I tell you what though uh is I awful compared to yours uh oh this is
21:28
great look Bam um I mean I did a pupil I mean yours it's got a highlight in there my guy
21:35
yeah I mean maybe the the left eye is the only one he can see through the other one is just cataracts
21:44
there's no point changing because it does all the work for him yeah and he looks a handsome devil I'm seeing
21:50
definitely Timothy elephant Vibes just looking at that face so yeah so I think it was like again because the beard was
21:57
on the same like mesh as the skin um yeah you can see the tip the tip of
22:03
this beard here uh his skin color his lips are beard color so
22:09
um I mean yeah you know you know you've gone wrong if your lips are beard color
22:15
um as as the old saying goes um a lot of wash has pulled on the
22:20
inside of his jacket there which doesn't look too good um uh baby
22:26
um not Shrek but uh yeah baby Yoda he is as you pointed out when we did it the
22:32
same color as the armor um but I was like I've got a painting green yeah slightly
22:39
yeah I mean I don't know what his innings are made of but I'm scared I am scared oh yeah I was quite I was quite
22:44
pleased with those actually they are very nice it's got like a bit of a luminous bun guy kind of uh yeah yeah so
22:52
don't don't um cut open a baby um but yeah I tried to put a hazard
22:57
cable on the gun now I will say Pat again look at those Hazard Stripes I will go nowhere near that gun so it does
23:04
its job so good job there that this looks very handy I mean you can see this
23:10
is how terrible my painting was live there's there's a big yellow sponge here there's yellow over here there's black
23:17
um Stripes because like when you I mean yeah let's see you can quite quickly
23:23
take your geometry over and um so you have to be really
23:28
really careful when you're doing that so which again has kudos to the artists of moon break when you look at their actual
23:34
paint job yeah oh yeah life like what I I think if I was to to gonna win this I
23:40
would have just like duplicated the scheme um dropped in a couple of colors and
23:46
like changed one thing I'm like yeah I did that yeah like yeah I did that so whoever whoever did this I mean look at
23:51
their baby check it's blue it's got different colors all on it they've picked out the stitching yeah patterns on it you know have a look at the nether
23:58
yeah yeah and and like all of the like like we we did
24:03
the Armor All the same color and and the dry brush highlights it so it looks
24:09
slightly different but they've gone in and they've done all of that in in the different colors the image between an
24:16
army painter and exhibition painter so yeah this is this is the The unachievable Heavy Metal Standard box
24:22
cover and then it's they're kind of stuff here's what you can do if
24:29
um yeah 45 minutes well so with this one I kind of got to a
24:35
stage where I was like hey I could leave it like this and I'd be all right with it and yeah like I say I I put the tattoo on it
24:42
um and I went to the to the default scheme and I was like oh look they've got um he's put some like Hazard stripes
24:48
on this on his leather there I wonder if I can control it I mean if you're inspired you'd give it
24:55
a good go I mean we haven't focused on the PS2 resistance which is the belt
25:00
buckle though we were but my favorite element of this model entirely and I like how you overly
25:07
washed it to the point where you can't see the detail anymore well well I mean yeah because I hated it so much it it
25:12
was like you know I had like quite a heavily washed like grimy model which to
25:19
be fair fit the um yeah fit the inspiration um but yeah this
25:26
um it it just like he would it just looked like he was wearing a suite yeah because I mean I just want to delve a
25:33
little bit deeper as to what was your inspiration behind the belt buckles then exactly um uh he was wearing a belt buckle that
25:42
was white and it had two red stripes on and and I was like right mine's round
25:47
um what can I do so I accidentally made a sin George's cross yeah yeah and then
25:53
I was like well I don't I don't want him to wear a St George's cross um so I'll I'll do something else
26:00
instead so put some blue in there um and it looked awful so then as as
26:06
everybody knows and has seen at this stage um I uh I I asked for some help and you
26:13
said wash it and dry brush it so I washed it until you could barely see it anymore and then I dry brushed it until
26:20
you really couldn't barely see it anymore and the result you know is a bit more fitting yeah with the model well we
26:27
we all know uh that uh space Sheriff Timothy that belt buckle is representative of being a marshall of
26:34
the Republic so this is your version of a marshall Children of the public is of course yeah that's yeah
26:40
that I think we should yeah that I've just noticed you're it's just a black mess around that belt buckles
26:47
and and the paint of the belt buckle goes over the top oh and then and then I
26:52
realized um I gave him blue trousers and I realized that I should have given him like a dark green trouser so I like I
26:58
was like am I gonna change it no I'm just gonna wash them green
27:03
so you can see in all of the recesses it's just all green and then if you go
27:09
around to the back of his leg I mean I can't see the moral holographic
27:16
because at the end of my video I forgot to actually wash and highlight my trousers so they're just flat white
27:21
just flat white hey you got mud on them oh I got mud yeah no there's some recesses in there from like your
27:26
previous natural shading from the light of the uh the tool not actually any effort on my part as you get close into
27:33
that butt cheek s that's a purple
27:39
yeah uh I think you put more effort into your trousers than I did so I can't contact them all high ground
27:46
no so I think exceptional yep
27:51
stupid it's not stupid it's great and safe boring
27:57
boring I mean my favorite part of that is the dead dead Shrek baby no he just needs a bit TLC he'll be fine
28:04
I need a lot more than TLC hey Patrick here and just a quick
28:10
Interruption to tell you about a brand new feature in the game that we didn't have access to when we were recording
28:15
these videos and that is the ability to share your paint jobs from Moonraker so
28:21
if I click on something that we have painted great paint job from peachy here we have a new share button just next to
28:28
the name and if you click on that it'll load and then here we are with a copyable link and a full 3d render of
28:35
our painted miniature so you can share it with all your mates back to the video so uh would you pick a winner
28:44
could they be a winner I think I'm gonna go you know
28:49
I thought about it long and hard and I'm gonna go the Diplomatic answer art one today
28:55
[Laughter] and we suffered for our
29:02
I mean there's there's definitely merits to both pros and cons oh yeah yeah I I
29:07
did the simple uh classic faces and bases I put a bit more effort into effect yeah there's no bass so I did
29:13
Dirty grieve yeah yeah no I mean yeah these all deal with effect I mean it's
29:19
interesting let's see if you look at them from afar yeah you zoom right out and and I think like like you say the
29:26
color placement of mine like the red and the green and and the heavy wash that's on there
29:31
um I think I think mine maybe like stands out yeah a bit more and
29:37
um and it is fun but you zoom in and you'll be like why why is all the recesses of his trousers green why is
29:43
why is his beard skin color and and his lips be it color what's going on with that gun who painted those
29:51
hands of stripes a child um whereas you know and that's the the
29:57
moon breaker as fantastic as it is the downside is you can turn it around and you can feel far and and and and mine a
30:05
hundred percent Falls to bits when you do that um whereas yours is solid yeah yeah well
30:13
I appreciate you saying that no I I can't take any more hard ground I just I just did what I normally do I spent I spit I sped through yeah I I saw the
30:20
brief and I did what I'd always do which is just play to the brief yeah yeah I think you
30:25
know my own my own hubris um just it just came up and bit me really because it's like hey it's is it
30:32
the technical skill that helps with speed painting it's like no like I I dry brush the same as you
30:40
yeah on that one the effect is steady Spider-Man the effect is the same
30:45
but you know I can I can wash stuff and I could I could match everything you do but um
30:50
you know yours is is like the use of the color and all of that knowledge
30:56
um is just super helpful but no one can beat your belt buckle I'm just saying that that is the the finest that that's
31:03
the real winner that's the real winner um thank God
31:08
I think he's great so thank you to moonbreaker for sponsoring this video it's like you say
31:14
our first bit of Bolton content really and I I enjoyed it it was more of a laugh than work
31:21
no we worked really hard and we were very serious and
31:28
um you know it was great [Laughter] yeah we've had so much fun
31:35
um I think like I digital painting um was was great fun I think there are you
31:40
know we discussed it in the previous video um our applications for it
31:46
um and and turning it into I think that you know using it as a basis for the competition was uh was interesting and I
31:52
thoroughly enjoyed myself yeah it's definitely got mileage of stuff for any kind of painter any color level like you
31:57
found out you know just color placement so yeah knowing what colors who who would have thought a green wash wouldn't
32:03
really work over blue trousers take second day
32:09
I don't know I don't know why I didn't I don't know I didn't they're still
32:14
there pressure they're still there haunting me um it's because I am a reprobate
32:21
um and I think I think that's the real reason that industry baby will keep it in the yeah balance down yeah yeah don't
32:27
