hello my name's patrick and my name's jeff and taking painting advice from us it's like taking parent advice from the
0:05
emperor [Music]
0:12
so here we are back again back again and we seem to start every show with this
0:17
but a big thank you was hailing through the subscribers at the moment which is really kind of you all and some really
0:23
lovely comments and lots of views that's great so if you're viewing and you're not subscribing pull your finger
0:30
out and just press that little button down there and it'll make us smile me especially because i have
0:36
terrible ego issues so if you could it'd be really appreciated so there we go so
0:42
one like for one jeff smile you have one of them for free but the next one requires a subscription
0:51
right then so straight in as per usual our review show and it starts with pat what you're painting what am i painting
0:58
what i am always painting this uh this miniature from
1:03
not darren latham and his uh blood angels tutorial that i am doing
1:08
in a stupid order i've generally forgotten all of the stuff and now i'm just making
1:15
it up as i go along i like the fact that i like the fact that all parts what you're paying just gets followed with a
1:20
mild existential crisis yeah yeah there's there's an amateur is it is it james lancaster on like
1:27
celebrity bake-off they were like tell me the story of your bake and he was like started baking had a breakdown
1:34
bon appetit um so this this is uh i think i think for me you know started painting
1:40
i had a breakdown [Laughter] it's a very slow breakdown
1:46
i like the fact guys that you've you know you fell off course with not darren latham's uh peyton uh guide yeah but you
1:54
haven't gone back to sort of re-energize yourself until i went down well i mean
1:59
you'll see um and the viewers will see you know i've shaded and edge highlighters um
2:06
this and it's exceptionally good this leg um and and and there's some some
2:11
mistakes in there and and i've done well i've done i've done both legs um but then i haven't even started
2:18
shading the head um i've shaded
2:23
there you go kobe it's still there um yeah shaded some of it not shaded other
2:28
bits haven't highlighted other bits and i'm going to i'm going to do the bags i'm going to do his weapon i'm going to
2:34
do some metal bits um and what i'm gonna do now is i'm thinking about shading some of the metal bits this evening oh
2:41
um and then i'm gonna base coat his uh the rubber parts uh all right
2:49
in the panels and i'm going to zoom extended grey and then get some black templar in over the top
2:54
excellent so he's still an ongoing project but baby steps but looking really good
3:00
though maybe in a year's time uh i will have thrown it away and
3:05
started something else by the time you buy in about we'll we will eventually be so popular darren latham will be on the
3:11
show and we'll be able to just tell you where you're going wrong just like just put the put the brushes
3:17
down you already paint one leg what's wrong with that that's it yeah yeah yeah well i'm not i'm not sure about the rest of
3:23
it because i'm not really a man to judge them but i can judge that leg yes yes i mean i mean to be fair i think that's some of
3:29
the better edge highlighting that that i have done yeah and uh
3:35
yeah lulz lulled you into a full sense security that i i'm good at painting blue images
3:41
[Laughter] if you haven't seen it that's from our 30 minute challenge with blood angels
3:46
where i had um i was having a crisis before i started with you having uh having flexed your
3:51
blood angel muscles prone to your times and i hadn't done one before but this wasn't in half an hour this has been uh
3:57
quite a few hours yeah so i i paint the same old thing um every week what do you want me this week oh
4:03
well actually you know i do the opposite is because i i just can't remain on one thing and i am doing
4:10
this lieutenant if we're playing just kodak space marine with my son's army and a castellan if
4:17
we're playing using the the black templars rules which he uh his army's done in such way that
4:22
he can if he wants to so yeah he's nearly enough done which as we've talked about before which means that when i get
4:28
within about 45 minutes of finishing the miniature i have a breakdown and then i have to then spend seven or eight hours
4:33
fanning around with it so tonight i'm just going to start basing the butler color on the base so i can then put some
4:39
crackle paint over the top of it so in case it does have a major crack in it it won't show through to the original color
4:46
and then i might try and get a little bit of work fully enough on the pouches myself i've put some brown on them
4:52
but uh yeah so that's generally where we're at he's in the the death rows of being done
4:58
uh the sword i've got to be honest the sword needs doing but i am i may well go
5:03
back to uh mr tooth and coats himself duncan rhodes and use one of his yeah that's tutorials where he did three
5:09
different versions didn't he mr make masterclass a bit redundant that's him i think that's his new longer nickname
5:15
um yeah yeah i really like that video i think the molten power sword was my
5:20
favorite so i think that's what i'm gonna do i'm gonna hold off on the sword to last and then i'll uh i'll let mr uh
5:26
i'll let mr rhodes give me some advice on that and then we'll go from there the thing i'm loving on this one is that
5:33
people talk about it and if you don't use it it is really is worth your time is i've been micro solemn here every day
5:40
on them shoulder pads to get them to look like they are almost painted into the miniature as opposed to having that
5:46
awful decal shine so i'm quite pleased with him so far he's um oh he's going out of focus there
5:51
we go he's uh like i said he's near enough there get some kind of martian base on him and uh
5:58
and uh sort out his pouches just put a bit of a highlight on him and he will be finished all being well i am a sucker
6:04
for a martian base just looks good doesn't it because it's just an alien nest isn't it it's got it's got all it's
6:10
got it's got a nice level of drama and then with it being that sort of orange if you put any green tops or anything near it it's just any any tufts of grass
6:18
on it although i know mars got any grass but you know yeah i've just put some on i put the like the pale
6:23
yeah i do i do dead tufts on do the dead toughs on mine and i think it sets it
6:29
off wonderfully so yes so that's how he will go with the rest of the army will be on martian bases so i'll get me uh
6:37
pilot now it's uh it won't be dragging the focus on him
6:42
right then so straight into our first as usual straight in pulse of call of
6:49
yeah i've uh paid me one cp so uh so i'm calling overwatch
6:55
as usual and it is warhammer plus or minus so after three
7:03
one two three minus yeah oh oh oh well you can add a new category
7:10
yeah you can have a mirror i think it might just be something working a lot yeah this weekend um
7:16
and you know i'd be inclined to say minus um
7:21
but also oh i just oh i struggle to
7:27
brother the whole point was meant to be that all
7:33
the other channels had struggled to care and just stopped talking about it
7:38
this is only what's this is this review show for yeah yeah already you've yeah
7:43
yeah melancholy has kicked in already i think so yeah um this is eventually going to be um
7:50
warhammer is a plus or minus and the answer is yeah no like
7:56
it's a minus um and and it's kind of i mean they
8:02
the issue is there's just so the content on there it's few and far between i don't
8:08
like everything that gets put on there um so if it's a week where say there isn't an
8:15
animation yeah um or a masterclass that i get
8:21
feel like i get something from then i'm just like and then even if it's a plus
8:28
i it it's 10 minutes on a wednesday every two weeks and i'm like
8:34
okay i'll go and watch star wars now yeah bye-bye yeah yeah you're only there filling and
8:39
you're only there fill in the voids until kenobi starts yeah
8:44
well i've got to be honest we've talked we generally i think do our best to be
8:49
very polite about the painters we do indeed but not massively happy with the their
8:55
degree episodes there were some interesting things that i noticed with this one the first one
9:01
being all of the demonstration shots were with
9:07
a model that wasn't painted on on the tutorial it was the full
9:14
heavy metal model and then and painted the uh the shoulder
9:20
pads off and and then it went back to the full yeah like every metal uh chaos night and
9:27
and it very much reeks of blue peter um presenters yeah he was building tracy
9:33
island yeah here's what i prepared earlier yeah and the thing is disingenuous but the thing is is the
9:39
difference being is is that the blue peter presenter for those of you who are abroad it was a
9:44
children's tv show that ran for quite a number of years on the bbc in the uk and is it still going i i don't know it
9:50
might be online now i would have thought um with the idea was they would build things
9:55
potentially in real time but every so often they would jump forward and would use the light and here's one i prepared
10:01
earlier uh but the actual thing is here's some here's one somebody else prepared earlier yeah which is exactly
10:07
where we're at on this yes and the problem being we're paying for it and we're suckers absolutely right
10:14
i don't know and the problem being is isn't it is this thing of going but the problem being is that here's one we
10:20
prepared earlier but you're using the heavy metal one and then the one that you're then
10:27
meant to be mimicking doesn't look the same as it it wasn't as good no the the the colors
10:34
were saying they were the same weren't they and the recipe was the same but the finish overall was different it was still like
10:40
on the floor and i get that two different painters and yeah you know i mean aidan might have painted that one might have done but yeah but then again
10:46
christ i can't paint two marines to be exactly the same shade of silver from one day to the next so and i get that
10:52
but this thing of wheeling something in and going well you
10:57
know here's what's been done previously yeah it just
11:02
no just if you have to why don't you just paint it and then show us the show is it
11:10
painted at the beginning yeah and then work your way back to what you you know work your way to it instead
11:16
of wheeling in one of my potentially might be somebody else's work yes i think
11:21
yeah it was like i don't know who's making the decisions
11:28
as far as i'm aware the painters get to choose
11:34
what they do yeah um or at least when i was there that's what louise got to do um there'll
11:41
be some oversight from managers and all that sort of stuff i guess but i don't know like obviously learning a
11:46
specific technique like that i haven't seen it done before no it was something i was quite excited to uh to see
11:54
but like i get the impression they're just trying to rush these out just so there's
12:00
content very much felt like it yeah yeah don't get me wrong i think the colors and the
12:06
ideas that they've chosen and i've used um that technique of them i've used that
12:11
technique of them um them greens before myself on on death guard
12:16
and they do work really well but yeah it just i just think of going here's
12:23
what while i do this but it doesn't look like what i'm actually referencing it just didn't do a lot for me no no it
12:30
it you know on the back of the box it's like base coat it
12:36
wash it every metal yeah like here's how to paint and to an every
12:43
metal standard in three simple steps one base coat two wash three practice
12:49
for years yeah it's just like
12:56
yeah i mean it's not it's not what i'm after like if no if i want to watch
13:02
someone who's really good at painting show me just how good a painting they are
13:08
um you know maybe i'll watch masterclass but i like this
13:13
i just there's so many things that they could introduce to master class
13:20
to make the tutorials so much better that people do on youtube and they do it for free because they
13:26
evidently really care about teaching people um it's like hey here's a glaze this is
13:33
the consistency paint on your thumb that's incredibly helpful for someone like myself who is
13:40
heresy um new i'm gonna go with you not try that that's not fair um i'm sorry very
13:46
low opinion of myself um it's because you're still not well
13:52
um yeah it's just bizarre um
13:58
i don't i don't get why they're not including that stuff
14:04
yeah um so i get like i watch aidan paint and he's an exceptional painter
14:11
that's never in question no not at all um but
14:16
as far as like a tutorial goes i know which paints to put where and like what colors you used but
14:24
i get more instruction from peachy and the the youtube presenters
14:30
yeah on like all the horus heresy videos that they've been releasing yeah absolutely right and i find like you know they they go
14:39
do an edge highlight now do a thinner edge highlight which isn't overly helpful yeah um it's just
14:44
like be really good step two be even better um whereas i feel like say like with peachy
14:50
specifically he's kind of does a lot of dry brushing and he broke out the the packing sponge for the
14:56
weathering yeah like that and um it's kind of like how to get there but
15:01
how to like just be helpful and do it quickly and and all that sort of stuff which you know with masterclass it's not
15:07
about doing it quickly it's about it being incredible and
15:13
if you're painting at that level you're gonna know the consistency of a glaze um of course you are and it's like now
15:19
that i've been showed that once i'm like okay i kind of know that i need to
15:25
take a lot of the moisture off of my brush and make sure it's thin enough and going into the future i'm like okay
15:31
right if i'm gonna glaze it roughly needs to be this yeah um but it's a shame that i had to go to
15:39
and i've talked about it before like with uh with video editing tutorials that the
15:44
one guy that i learned everything from every single tutorial he's like okay so command c to copy and command v to paste
15:51
yeah and it's like he's aware that this could be someone's first tutorial and he's
15:56
helping everyone um and i think that's what masterclass should be
16:02
doing um in in that regard or just doing it better um because yeah that
16:10
that i think they're misusing the word master aren't they master class is meant to be
16:15
the ability to cheat from warhammer plus not the ability that i'm already ah as the person viewing it
16:22
yeah which is what it sometimes feels like it slides into yeah you know jungle wrong some great stuff on there as well
16:28
and really handy handy little bits and bobs like subscribers most recent one for muzzle burn for flamers and one thing or
16:35
another yeah fine really good some nice runs of colors and then the transitions were really cool
16:41
and i've got a basic understanding about to do that already but not everybody watching it is me and i'm
16:48
far from a perfect paint painter but there's a lot of people out there a num good number of steps below me so
16:54
some of that i think was really good but um yeah some of it i just think it seems to
17:00
be like almost like there's just steps missing in the in the procedure isn't it yeah and yeah yeah yeah
17:07
i think yeah because they're actively choosing to not show say paint consistencies
17:13
um and it just seems a bit um
17:20
just a little bit silly i don't i'd like it but for a minimal amount of effort they
17:27
could make them significantly better tutorials yeah
17:33
and they seem to be choosing not to and i don't know why
17:39
yeah again it just feels like the increasing of like the cutting of corners just seems to have finally made
17:44
its way into masterclass as well and i think that's i think that's a pretty sad state of affairs really yeah yeah so
17:52
yeah so normally big supporter of uh a lot of masterclass but
17:57
yeah no not floating my boat at the moment no no with a lack of um
18:03
animations as well um yeah it's just like
18:09
you know i mean it's not it's not gonna change um certainly not overnight um i get the
18:16
impression that if it was going to change steps would have been put in place already for it to change
18:22
i think they need to be really given some thought as to where they're going now because um as we'll be discussed later the uh
18:30
the exclusive miniatures are going to start coming out are starting to make their way out to people now yeah and i
18:35
think there'll be a lot of people deciding that once they've got that and their year is
18:40
up that will be it unless they're yeah so that's the following year the miniature is something utterly amazing i
18:46
think there will be people who'll be going now do you know what got me miniature that didn't turn out to be all that
18:52
impressive and i'm done you know yeah i think they've got to be very careful with that or they'll be uh
18:58
they'll be on a high road to nowhere i think on the second year yeah so yeah i think that will be the test so yeah
19:05
that pretty much i think for me is uh where i'm at with regards to uh warhammer plus that's been two minuses
19:13
in a row for me and you've just already fell into a melancholic despair without me i think i have yeah
19:19
i already only took four episodes [Laughter] i'd had to bet with my wife i thought it
19:24
was going to take you at least six but there you go four yeah yeah yeah so
19:30
the first sigma hammer bottle came out yeah um and it's all right
19:35
like it is all right um but i find myself at the minute because i'm
19:41
dropping that then it wasn't even the 30 minute challenge oh and that's sword oh
19:47
so easily go was that one was that the one that you broke already yeah do you know what though this is the one
19:53
i broke already and then you know what i'd also my clumsiness had gone a step further and
19:59
broke the sword off a different miniature which fully enough was what i now no longer needed so we now got a bigger sword that's not his sword that's
20:06
on off uh off the original gravis captain from that came from the dark imperium box and uh i realized he was getting retired
20:13
because the new one was a far nicer miniature so oh that first grabs the pregnant one yeah yeah he's been he's
20:18
been retired before even i've seen the battlefield blessing yeah he's on maternity yeah he's on maternity
20:25
yeah so he's been retired for the more dynamic one and yeah and why why would you not and he's never
20:31
seen the battlefield again bless him because he's now i've got a sword yeah so yeah so
20:36
arcane then league of legends was yeah so so this is kind of like like warhammer is a big entity
20:45
games workshop has a lot of money and they're putting out mediocre animations yeah um
20:52
whereas arcane on netflix based in the league of legends universe is is so good
21:00
i haven't watched it i need to pull my finger off yeah like get it watched it's because it's like
21:05
i mean they it cost a lot of money they invested way more than games workshop
21:11
would have put into to 100 plus um but um
21:16
it's the the artistry the storytelling it's it it's very very good and you
21:22
watch it at the end and you're like oh these are the names of the people that made it that's interesting yeah um
21:28
it's it's done properly um and it's fantastic and i can't help
21:35
but compare 100 plus to that because that is what other companies are doing yeah yeah um
21:42
so i know that games workshop likes to keep everything like they even keep
21:48
their marketing in-house like the marketing department everyone sort of raves about them with the with the stock
21:53
of games workshop this marketing department was created here and then look at the stock it goes up
21:59
the marketing department they put things on their own website and
22:06
market to people that already like warhammer that buy all the new stuff
22:11
every week anyway like i i never see any adverts for
22:17
games like the i think imperial magazine got some adverts yeah a tv advert
22:23
yeah it did i think they always do on like the launch don't they i don't know if they did for the second run of the magazine no but the original one did and
22:30
i remember when they had because they had a lot of the rings magazine as well back in the day
22:36
and i had an advert as well yeah but that's obviously mostly being informed by the magazine company or what's the thought
22:42
yeah quite possibly yeah but i mean people people always call it plastic plastic crack don't they so if they're
22:47
like right tim uh see i said i just plucked a random name out of my head so it's not my tim it's not my my my friend
22:54
obviously yeah so me and my mom because if it was we'll go around the other way yeah me and your mate
22:59
um and we're like right okay we've got this smack who should we who should what
23:06
should we do maybe like give it to people that are already hooked okay cool what should we get more people hooked on it that'd be right they'll figure out
23:13
eventually yeah like and it clearly works for them and they're at as far as i'm aware um you know their factory was
23:20
at capacity they built a second one uh for production and that is that capacity
23:25
already like they need to build a third yeah so there is a risk of uh you know marketing and the demand being too high
23:32
and and the growth being difficult but like they're quite sort of
23:39
insular and keep it all in i don't want to control everything yeah um which is a
23:44
way of guaranteeing quality um but i think like with
23:50
the tv side of things it's different yeah um and yeah you have to really push some level of control they've tried to
23:57
take it themselves like they've done everything like you know they do every single element they they do
24:04
themselves um but with this it's like right well we'll do the animation ourselves we do the battle reports ourselves and it's
24:10
like oh there crap why yeah absolutely it's funny you say that
24:17
because um i've been searching around for some new things to watch while i paint
24:22
and um and i started uh recently getting into uh the man in the
24:29
high castle on amazon and they the showrunner on that
24:35
was the guy who pre-covered was the one who was talking about the fact that he was going to be doing um
24:42
the eisenhorn tv series oh and then i noticed that uh as i started looking
24:50
about thinking about watching the man in the high castle i was reading through on uh imdb and it's finished it's done
24:57
started to save this lunch course yeah and you're going but i haven't heard any mention
25:03
that of moving on to the next project and that might be covered it might be responsible for pushing everything back
25:09
but there's been no mention and i think i think that's a bit of a shame because i thought you know by now either thought
25:15
they'd have been at least talking about pre-production on it and one thing or another and like it they i think in a in
25:21
an earnings report recently or something they they made a reference to it oh did they um so
25:28
like as it still appears to be happening oh good um
25:33
but uh i imagine it's gonna be
25:38
a while like these things take away yeah yeah um and you know they've got to try and clone every henry cavill for every
25:45
single role absolutely yeah so we're thinking yeah you know come on pull
25:53
let's you know sticky toe in the water and let's get going and get something on proper television you know
25:58
you know you think everything has been every blum and comic book is being turned into a blooming tv
26:04
show or a movie at the moment you can't some things are blowing getting turned into tv shows before they
26:09
writing the comics even yeah the first issue i mean the amount of stories you could tell in the universe would be
26:15
christ yeah it would be incredible that'd be yeah yeah oh um there'd be no end of uh
26:22
of of content and everybody seems to be going down the line of like okay
26:28
cinematic universe and obviously marvel have done it really well dc with mixed success
26:33
what was tom cruise and the mummy they tried they tried
26:43
um but uh i i think warhammer would be
26:48
certainly like could be up there if it was handled well the thing is i think increasingly i think we we have a lot of
26:55
um ensemble tv now don't we where you get a lot of shows with big casts yeah you
27:02
know if you look at um for example the boys it's got quite a big cast you know
27:07
have you watched any of season three yeah i have you just can't wash your brain can you
27:13
like i saw they were like oh they took um ant-man going into thanos's ass
27:19
really seriously and oh my god like yeah but that was the bit where my my wife
27:24
was sort of watching it while was hovering over the top of watching something on on youtube that didn't
27:29
require sound i don't know what it was and she went i was like just one of them
27:35
conversations you don't want to have my wife went did he run up his arse and i went no
27:41
no he didn't she went i'm sorry he did i went no he didn't run up his ass and she went can you rewind it i was like do i
27:48
have to rewind it she went oh no we really
27:53
didn't know he really didn't run up his ass no no it's worse than that yeah do you think like
27:59
do you think moving forwards because obviously if we if we uh warhammer plus or mine is
28:07
uh at some stage we'll just be like minus but here's with what we've been watching instead and they might have to
28:13
get to that like this it's a funny one for me the boys because i always want to grumble about it because the fact that i
28:20
read the the comic book series yeah and the fact that it ran its course
28:25
before the tv show had even started unlike the walking dead where i think the problem the walking dead had was
28:30
that uh a comic book only takes about if you were 10 in a comic book
28:36
into into tv footage it would only take about 10 12 minutes of screen time okay you
28:42
know because you read slower than you listen yeah and action scenes on our action scenes on on screen are com
28:50
some people being shot can be a couple of seconds where they'll be seven or eight frames of a comic book and i think
28:55
the worry was was the game of thrones problem was they didn't want to get in front of the comic so they started
29:01
inventing all of these other plots to try and slow it down ah right and then it just started to just
29:07
increasingly write itself into corners that i couldn't get out i wouldn't have to go the only way out of this is to
29:13
change this dramatically or kill that character or do this yeah and you know and eventually
29:18
i don't know it's just a nerdy thing to go oh it's not as good as the comic and but you know you're sitting there going what are you doing but i understood that
29:25
it was to try and put speed bumps in between them and the speed that the comic was was coming out
29:30
yeah because the problem being is you you get a comic once a month but you get a tv show once a week yeah so it's you
29:38
know you're always in a problem but the the thing for me with the boys was the comic was all done and dusted by a
29:44
good number of years by the time they started the tv show yeah so there's no reason not to just follow the comic book
29:50
i mean i i guess the reason will be we think people will like this we want
29:56
it to be going for for more yeah so we can make more money or but there's sometimes in it i watch it and
30:02
go oh that's just a really why are you complicating that when in the comic book it was approached in a much more
30:08
simpler manner you know and then but um but despite my in spite of that i find
30:14
myself really enjoying the place yeah yeah i mean the only thing that pulls me out of it
30:20
is um carl urban's british accent like when he shouts he just sounds like a new
30:26
zealander right i'm gonna in defense of carl ebb and carl i love colin carl urban
30:31
can do uh an amazing range of accents yes sometimes all in the same sentence
30:42
yeah it's awful it is it's awful he can go he can go from sound and cockney through
30:49
doing like through a quick visit through sort of like yeah sort of sort of sort of like through birmingham and then over
30:55
to australia then into new zealand yeah and it's funny because his american accent when he does american accents
31:01
he's really good at them and i i rewatched uh dread recently oh and his dread voice is great he's so good in
31:07
dreads oh yeah he's fantastic and and there's not a single slip up anywhere no
31:12
um whereas this one i i think it's like yeah yeah and then he's like g'day
31:20
like it's not like that but like oh it's it's um
31:25
yeah so if you're thinking about having amazon prime for a month or warhammer
31:31
plus yeah get amazon prime yeah and then if you and if you really like amazon prime the plan is that if they do
31:38
go and get ahead without uh with the eisenhorn tv series it's going to go on amazon prime anyway ah is it amazon
31:45
yeah i think it's amazon is where it's due to go so then you can just stay and still get what get your war hammer
31:50
content as well that would be great wouldn't it that would be hilarious when there's like like a
31:56
top tier tv series hopefully if it's produced by amazon and then you'll be like what else can i
32:02
find you'd be like well you can have 10 minutes of hammer and bolt every two weeks yeah and
32:07
then if you're lucky you might say episode a deep striker because someone said to me uh oh well surely your amazon
32:14
surely eisenhorn will just go on some warhammer plus you're like not on your nelly it's gonna need a lot more people
32:19
than that watching it yeah yeah and and games workshop don't have the funds to no produce a series of that quality
32:27
hell no like like arcane was millions and millions um so and and that that would literally
32:33
be i mean they've had bumper years the past two years where they've made sort of 100 million profit wow and it
32:41
would be like all of that to make that series it's a risk that they can't really take like
32:47
if they go with amazon amazon funds it they will keep the majority of the money i would imagine but it just eliminates
32:53
that risk of doing it themselves and it well as we've seen with warhammer plus
32:58
yeah like um like the rumor has it they're happy with the amount of subscriptions they have and then okay and the money coming in
33:05
but maybe it doesn't have to be that much like if it just covers um the wages
33:10
for all of the all of the staff that are working on it then maybe that's enough do you know i
33:16
would potentially even go on a limb and say do you know what i'd potentially maybe quite happy to have more human beings on warhammer plus
33:24
yeah um yeah i think maybe you know maybe have a good instead of like
33:30
trying to push out some animation all the time maybe just keep it and do really good animation
33:35
you know yeah yeah just put something out once or twice a year that was really like benchmark level like the way
33:42
astartes is yeah i mean maybe that's
33:47
what they're doing now maybe like of all of the series like that we
33:55
had i think the two that i enjoyed were angels of death and even though that had some moments
34:01
where you were just like was that a potato
34:07
um but yeah i i would like like a fully fledged you know even like if it's a
34:13
limited six part series six or eight episodes yeah um but the productions just like banging well what i was going
34:20
to say was we're talking to always talk about eisenhower was saying about ensemble casts like the boys
34:26
or like the walking dead or things like that and just and you could do go on to ghosts
34:31
yeah you know yeah and the thing is as you go oh well they're massive battles but you go the amount of cgi you can
34:36
just fill in the background on things now yeah you know yeah 40k tanks aren't a particularly complex
34:42
looking vehicle to just have 25 of them rolling across in the background you know they're not odd it'd
34:48
be like you're playing the ms dos game tanks like yeah just yeah you know they're not particularly
34:54
complex are they so you know i just like i quite like gaunt's ghost you know what i mean
34:59
you know christ you could have three episodes to set the quarry every blumen series couldn't you you know yeah and
35:04
i'd still be quite happy you know but well it's um i think the problem being so you're you're in charge of uh so let's
35:12
do it you've got 100 million quid yeah and you can make your war hammer series
35:17
what you're doing oh i'd like to say ghost i'd like to save two john's goes and the reasons i think i think go and
35:24
go on scrolls could work to some degree i know it's hard to sell because a lot of people like the time period i'm about
35:30
to mention them and the goans ghosts is it quite on the unusual time period for non warhammer fans
35:36
well just remember just think about how much sharp you got and everyone loved that yeah yeah
35:44
yes the sharp shooter yeah you know the drunk the this the that yeah well all of them characters are blatantly in god's
35:51
ghosts and it's like you're just doing sharp in the 41st century yeah and like
35:57
say like top gun obviously that's yeah and and you look at the trailer like i haven't seen the film yet and it's like
36:03
okay so tom cruise is that character that one is like the cocky yeah guy and then here's the woman that
36:10
needs to prove herself and then there's the nerdy guy and and that's well they've done i don't
36:16
know if they did one or they did more but they did um dan edna who i think is the best 4k writer who did eisenhorn and
36:23
ghost he did one called double eagle which was about the uh the guys to fight the fight the the
36:29
fighter planes and the imperium oh right i don't know whether there was more than one book i only read the first one if there was more yes do let me know
36:36
because but that was great there you go you know there's all there's you know there's like i think
36:42
that just the hardest part is trying to convince people of the 41st millennium isn't it
36:47
it's so far future and having to sort of say the human race has been on its own a couple of times and come back from like
36:54
the dark ages and we've had this god-like character's been living here forever and a day and then finally
37:00
reveals himself and something to see here pat then just ignore that bit yeah
37:06
so here's what i do i'd like do that crappy um
37:11
thing where you're like just have a bit of text on screen you know star wars yeah yeah you know in in a long time ago
37:17
in a galaxy far far away yeah yeah yeah you'd be like 45 millennia foreign here we are i would keep the main
37:24
characters human yeah so no space marines because i think yeah we talked about this before
37:30
they're really dry you'd have to relate to your characters and i think that was
37:35
something in angels of death that i struggled with because it's just like oh instead of
37:40
firing my gun immediately i'm just gonna do a couple of stanzas and um and just
37:46
like wail and blah blah blah blah sometimes it works sometimes like my favorite part of the series was when the
37:52
chaplain like kicked down the wall yeah and it's just like purge the unclean and you just like yes and he beheads someone
37:58
yeah fantastic so get a bunch of humans in there um they're gonna have to because they
38:05
talk about you know it's all satire and and when real-life nazis are just like
38:10
hey i connect with the imperium of man they're great nancies are also great they do put out a statement and go guys
38:17
it's not real which is good so i think what i would do would be a group of humans
38:23
that you know obviously they're humans so they would be in the imperium but
38:28
they're aware that it has its shortcomings and so have some alien characters in there
38:35
yeah um and talk about space marines like you know they are as sort of rare as they
38:41
yeah yeah are and you know that sort of thing are you striding around there like a space marine but you wouldn't see one
38:46
it would just be and then whenever you did reveal them it would be that like yes
38:52
it would be like the um i mean obviously it wouldn't have the amount of gravitas hopefully it would um of uh luke
38:58
skywalker coming to save baby oda no but i know what you mean it would be that's just like
39:03
we're screwed what can possibly get us out of this impossible situation space marines well it's like you know
39:11
they brought them into the they brought the they brought them in the eisenhower novel the first eisenhorn novel but
39:16
before you seen a space marine you'd seen a chaos marine first i remember you telling me this yeah yeah yeah yeah you
39:22
know and you know that worked really well so i think i think and i think that's why i think
39:29
if you went gaunt's ghost is that they always they generally fight the same bad guys which is the blood pact which are
39:35
basically traitor guards yeah who wear these like metal masks on the bottom off of their face who are all you know baby
39:42
maniacs yes you know and then you know they're all covered there you know like their armor will have spikes on the back with skulls on it and you go well
39:48
they're blatantly the bad guys yes and the great thing is you then even though the humans coming from a really dubious
39:54
background you don't really need to massively go into it no and you know and i think for all the gaunt ghosts no
40:00
they come from quite a nice forestry world because they've all become like a regiment the way they're meant to be like scout sort of guys okay you know
40:07
they they hunt and live normal so they live like log cabin sorts of existence and all the rest of it all right
40:13
and they're going so far as far as they know the imperium is inside their little sphere of awareness the imperium is not
40:19
bad and i think like obviously the imperium being like you know a dictatorship and so on and so forth is
40:24
like that can be put over there yeah and you can just be like oh this is it you have
40:31
your little bit of text on screen at the start you know the imperium of man was formed with the emperor of mankind yeah
40:36
and he sits on a throne uh you know that's a whole different thing but some
40:41
people worship him now and aliens generally aren't like very much i think i would have oh you'd have like buddy
40:48
cop you know you'd have an imperial guardsman and um like a tao or an eldar or something and
40:56
they're like uh through circumstance you're on the ship and you have to work together and they they start off hating each
41:02
other and then little do they know they're soon gonna oh it could be a rom-com
41:08
they're soon gonna become best friends um and then have that michael bay shot where they're just like
41:14
the camera's spinning around and and they they they realize that you know they have more in common through
41:20
murdering a common enemy so we can still keep it nice and grim dark yeah um but you could have that like um
41:27
you know you'd be like oh you're tally you're gross and he's like oh you're human you're gross it'd be like oh but if we don't work together i'm gonna die
41:33
i think the other thing as well is that if you look at with regards to um regiments with the imperial guard if you
41:39
did gaunt ghosts and they're sort of slightly more laid-back way of how they get on with doing getting stuff done and
41:44
the fact that like i say they're scouting and they're quite cool and all the rest of it but then you bring them into contact
41:50
with like highly regimented men who are massively under the sun and the pla the planet they are
41:56
massively reflects the imperium yeah and then you can you know you have them team up and going christ what's going on with
42:02
these guys do you know what i mean yeah in fact they did in one of the books they've gone going to go start to go to all the tanith as they're called the
42:09
taneth had to uh go to a planet and it was like um
42:14
humans versus humans one lot of turns on the other and it was very much like the first world war but they were all dressed like you know like first world
42:21
war prussians you know like spiked helmets and uniforms oh yeah the right color for war you know bright blue and
42:26
all the rest of it and you know and it sort of then showed them we're going christ what's going on here you know
42:32
so yeah i think i think there's i think there's ways of being able to sort of show the most the good guys that are having
42:38
to go and they're all nfo big maniacs you can just stay away from that you know yeah like say if you keep them in
42:43
their little bubble of how they see the world or how they see the galaxy yeah so i think telly has it's it's
42:49
definitely got legs and to be fair i think games workshop are gonna have to give in and go tally because i don't think there's much else left for them no
42:56
they've got video games pretty much sewn up i mean they've got crap video games showing up
43:02
yeah but the net the problem being is the big companies like yeah they're not activation and all the restroom aren't
43:08
going to take on their license because they've got their own licenses yeah that did you really well you go you know who
43:13
is it makes is activism are too call of duty um oh there's a bunch of people oh but
43:19
you know there you go instead of making call of duty 98 yeah
43:25
make this instead i think yeah no why would we do that that would be all right so they're going to see other developers
43:31
they go maybe in a plus we do star wars but we're not touching that you know yeah so that's why it's always smaller
43:36
companies that they make video games with yeah like i'm looking forward to space marine too yeah i enjoyed space
43:41
moving on like the grey knights game that came out recently strategy games have never massively been my
43:48
thing i mean i played a bit commander the great game that came out that were all the publicity for it looked like they were holding anti-circus hostage
43:55
yeah yeah that's the one
44:00
apparently on his when they did that interview with him on the rider it was like don't don't ask me to do the golem
44:05
voice i'd love to see him doing the golem
44:10
voice while doing space marine dialogue but that's just been genius [Laughter]
44:20
but the aliens likes us no they don't oh
44:25
deary me what have we descended into yes anyway so there we go so wall hammer
44:30
plus still need to kick up the arse and games workshop basically have to accept
44:35
if they're going to move it forward they're going to have to go and get on the table yeah yeah i think like it it all depends on the miniature and i
44:43
think are they putting the prices up next year is it going up like oh costly well dude kosterville who stopped if it
44:51
again um it the price would ideally have to remain the same the miniature would have
44:57
to be really good and a road map of what was coming off what was coming out
45:02
because i think buying it for a year has just been it's been such a massive gamble hasn't it it's been quite painful
45:08
yeah um so for me i think realistically
45:14
i will just wait until all of the episodes of astartes have come out and then just buy a month and
45:20
watch them all in a couple of hours yeah probably maybe
45:26
not even that no um here a couple of hours that's an entire movie
45:34
i'm going to watch it all in 27 minutes um and then and then never go back to it
45:40
so you see the problem being isn't it is i think is that is is is that it's just
45:48
it just doesn't feel like it's just gonna go anywhere no and it's just like second year i'm already down on it as i
45:53
said i'll only be getting the second year really so i can keep talking i was gonna say keep that off that's really
45:59
enough so i can keep talking about it on here yeah you know or maybe being the main reason i would go back to it that would
46:04
well well let's uh let's go half these on the subscription maybe that sounds like the right way to do it so oh we got
46:11
right into it there on warhammer
46:19
[Music] uh yeah sorry i've been a bit down on on one plus this week but yeah i i just
46:26
have like visions of myself as a 60 year old man and we go minus
46:33
that's 798 in the main scale and then they'll be your brain
46:40
like a futurama head in a jar just being like yeah i didn't enjoy it [Laughter]
46:49
oh anyway enough of that quick reviews with regards to what's recently called or is coming out and it's not um more of
46:57
a look ahead than a review as such so the the guard stuff was leaked isn't it yeah
47:02
they've made a reference to it and they were like put away that potato yeah it's like maybe get some better staff yeah
47:10
that's that's times where the cleaner sucked terrible or whatever it was but yes so
47:17
they've released uh some shots of some new imperial guards they haven't released everything that was in the
47:22
potato cam photograph but they've released another thing to wet our whistles because okay there's still um a
47:28
command squad which they think might be new or at least upgraded a new commissar
47:33
and some heavy weapon squads uh so they
47:39
the first one that they've gone with is they are showing the new uh ursula creed
47:44
who is the the daughter of the original castellan creed hectare dad
47:49
who was as far as i understand it i don't read the books but from sort of understand it was taken away to be part
47:55
of the collection of some demented i think dark eldar sort of character so
48:01
i think they've spelt her name wrong shouldn't it say miss trunchable
48:06
she's a sturdy girl but her dad was sturdy looks like she's going to put someone in a chokey oh
48:12
absolutely right yeah yeah absolutely right she's like a very fun she actually looks
48:17
like a very formidable security guard in a shopping center yeah yeah someone
48:23
you'd be like no i'm not going to steal anything today no yeah which yeah yeah i think maybe you
48:28
could uh out sprinter but not me not me but you know yeah does she have a gun she oh yeah
48:35
she's got the two pistols at the front like a dad there's two pistols but i like you know
48:41
i like the fact that um i like the headphones yeah quite unusual like
48:46
unique helmet that she's got compared to the rest of the cajuns which is a bit strange but i also like the idea of the
48:52
fact of being important enough that you can have your own artists if i make something that just is you know just purely for you but yeah i
49:00
quite like this model it's got loads of swagger through it i think as well it's nice as well that they haven't just gone
49:05
thin waisted big boobed female character i like the fact that she's yeah sort of reflects like she's got dad's genes of
49:11
being like a sturdy gruff looking sort of yeah yeah that's the belief that that's dad's jacket
49:18
that had been left behind in the fight whenever he was taken away with the big holes in the holes in the back of it which is quite cool some historian
49:26
which i think is cool i do appreciate that yeah she comes with alternate hands as well as one where she's got like a
49:31
sort of staff of office or you can have a with a set of uh binoculars as well
49:36
which yeah i like that i think it's um it oozes character yeah and i'd rather
49:43
have that than just some sort of pinup style character than some sort of pin-up
49:48
style 40k character yeah not to be fair 40k doesn't do a lot of that with the female humans i think they try and make
49:54
them as sort of realistic as possible but yeah really liking that so that's quite nice to look forward to that
50:00
coming out and then they may be imagining of the casican
50:06
who were originally out in metal they were the canadians version of stormtroopers they've been a couple of
50:12
asians at least a couple of asians are stormtroopers before the canadians got their relaunch and
50:17
when they did they made some unique stormtroopers for them everyone bought them and just used them as stormtroopers
50:22
forever richmond they were playing anyway because they were so cool so they've shown the first one and to be fair as someone who owns the
50:29
original model still um not a lot different uh little bits here
50:34
and there but generally very very similar the details probably gone up have been ramped up a little bit but
50:40
uh i like that i think they've made them into plastic but they haven't completely changed them yeah you know good sort of
50:47
high-tech sort of looking yeah i think on that full image is it those guys yeah yeah in the near ground yeah yeah and
50:54
they look really cool yeah i think they look really cool yeah i like the helmets yeah they're really cool reminiscent of
50:59
uh well like they they look like quite world war two like gas masks and yeah
51:06
and that kind of but i like as well it also looks like you can imagine that under all of that gear it's still the original canadian
51:12
guardsman but with just more stuff out there yeah you know they've taken away the last gun and give them these things
51:18
they're called hellfire guns and it's meant to be very much the cadian helmet but with just a gas mask
51:24
other than the torch on the side of it and but yeah yeah it looks good yeah i can't get too excited about them because
51:30
they look very much like they they originally did just souped up a little bit and in plastic
51:36
yeah and then the one that seems to be really dividing opinion at the moment is the sentinel
51:41
don't mind it myself personally um not a fan no there's a lot of people on the farm i
51:46
think it looks a little bit too sleek a little bit too normal sort of
51:52
sci-fi as opposed to having that sort of you know very rivet-heavy
51:57
sort of bolted together sort of feel of of 40k they think it looks a little bit
52:03
a little bit more generic science fiction i think it's fine myself personally but i haven't got to get in the game because i don't play imperial
52:09
guards but that's not to say i might not end up with some that will end up working for the g steelers gene still cults because
52:16
they can take them so i am sort of keeping half an eye on them and thinking i might end up with them but personally
52:22
i think they look fine yeah i like it's quite like a simple design um but i like it
52:31
it's it's got a little bit less scout walker than the last one which i actually think isn't necessarily a bad thing so yeah so
52:38
from the imperial guard releases i think they're uh i think they're fine i'll be interested
52:44
to see if over the next few days they maybe uh show some more or have they only just
52:50
shown the things that are really we're at the foreground and the photograph that they really have to go like right
52:55
okay what do people see what do we have to release yeah and yeah the the things that you mainly saw she was super close
53:02
close to the camera at the coast those guys are on the front line and then you see the center so it's big enough that it was yeah you couldn't help but notice
53:07
it so i feel kind of bad well i mean i also don't but they've had quite a lot of leaks recently yeah and
53:14
like they need to uh like and then they're like oh look god damn and they're putting all this out probably a
53:20
lot earlier than they wanted to yeah because you know there's still there still isn't a confirmed release date yet
53:26
for uh for guards you know i know they've now run east they've now uh put the release date out for uh
53:33
space marine chaos marines that they'll be the some point in this month uh i would say probably yeah
53:40
i noticed another another wonderful article from the marketing department a games workshop yeah um about the uh
53:46
possessed again yeah yeah see the only thing everyone now would me included because they're the possessed
53:52
for are in the death guard army as well they're gonna go are they gonna give us a
53:57
an faq to go you can have the rules from the chaos marines although we have to wait until 10th edition before we get
54:03
the better versions of possessed i don't know so there's that and then we've got um
54:10
the volton haven't we we do indeed yes so this robot
54:15
which we've uh yeah we've got this robot which is called a what's he called oh uh uh kin
54:22
iron kin oh yeah the iron kin mechanical members of the league people
54:27
some far smarter than myself said they thought they'd be a stronger likelihood that they would be robots in yeah
54:32
in the new the new army for the exactly just so definitely one just to keep calling the squats but anyway i mean
54:39
for the botans anyway but yeah and really it's one of them miniatures where it looks like it's doing everything all at
54:44
once doesn't it it reminds me very much of the um the robots from uh
54:51
the adaptive mechanicus yes yeah and i sort of like that i like the idea that if maybe if you go back far enough
54:56
everything worked off one template yes before they split off they've kind of yeah he broke reached a fork in the road
55:03
but this is quite interesting because he sort of looks like he's built for having a fight but at the same point in time he's uh it was definitely he's very much
55:09
a worker he's got all his spanners and everything he you know yeah you know i think um my wife could have
55:15
done the done with him around the house of the week when i was making an absolute half-assed attempt to hang in the mirror
55:22
but uh yeah it's do you know what though uh full of character uh it's quite unusual the idea of having
55:28
a robot wearing a big blacksmith's yeah yeah yeah it's cool it's very unusual
55:34
and i do i do like it um i would argue and i don't necessarily
55:40
say this as a bad thing doesn't feel very 40k
55:47
uh but i don't necessarily think that's a bad thing because remember a lot of people going it doesn't feel very 40k when tao came out because they were like
55:54
nothing else they're very clean yeah they are very very obviously japanese manga sort of mech
56:00
mecha you know inspired and uh and this is again is it it feels
56:08
i don't i want i'm saying generically sci-fi which sounds like it's an insult to it or i'm
56:13
putting it down i'm really not it just feels i like the idea that
56:18
things of it's something that's human it's got all of the hallmarks of things
56:23
from coming from the human element of of 40k but from massively from the past or from a
56:29
very different sort of branch of how it's done and i yeah i have a lot of time for it tell you what it really does
56:35
make me interested to see what else is in that army because if that's i think a lot of imagination has gone
56:40
into that in a lot of ways and like say harks back to adeptus mechanica stuff but then massively sort of yeah is its
56:47
own thing at the same time yeah i'm quite liking that so i think the releases we've had i prefer i prefer the
56:53
einken to the uh hoverbike really yeah okay
57:01
it's quirky it's just really unusual and i'm i'm all for it and i think um
57:06
if it's if it's quite um if it's quite good that in the army that that's obviously sort of something that's
57:12
designed to be doing i assume welding and repairing and one thing another i think then you know what it is what are
57:18
his buddies that are just there for kraken schools will look like will be quite cool so yeah yeah yeah yeah i'm
57:24
all over that i think it looks cool and i can't wait to see the whole army released as uh see what all looks like together because
57:29
i think it looks like it's gonna have some quite interesting synergies going on with regards to the mechanical side of things
57:35
yeah yeah all over that yeah and they're showing the photographs of the the backpack on the back and the power cut
57:41
all the power sources and stuff on it yeah yeah yeah liking that i think the uh
57:46
league of all time were uh something to be uh to look forward to seeing them coming out when that whenever that may be
57:54
yeah i mean i'm i i assume they'll get a ninth edition uh codex yeah do that thing will they get a
58:00
ninth edition codex just in time for them to end up in the 10th edition so when when will 10th edition come out
58:05
2023. well they normally say don't do ever they normally give them about every three or four years don't they yeah so
58:11
um to be honest i could really do with it not coming out for a while i feel like i'm only just getting my
58:17
drowned ninth edition you know yeah yeah i go no no no i'm all right thank you i can i can wait for a while yeah but the
58:23
thing is as well people forget is you don't have to no you just play all the days just play ninth edition till you're ready to move
58:30
up yeah i think way they get you is they bring in new they bring in new units yes
58:38
you can't feel them because you go well i don't know how they're going to work and you how would you put that together for ninth so
58:43
i could but you know and there's just pages there's facebook pages out there people who are still playing third edition
58:49
you know loving right cool you know poor um and horus heresy is basically seventh
58:55
edition yeah so yeah i hear that's like a a nostalgia trip yeah apparently so
59:00
playing horace harrison so you know there's no law saying you have to move off but the problem being is new model
59:05
syndrome makes you one who i think doesn't it go no i've got to have you know the fomo of uh of new of new
59:11
toys and a new box yeah so yeah yeah but the uh i mean you do do you have to have
59:17
them it's been it's been said yeah so yeah i think the uh the previews
59:22
for uh for this in fact they were only today where they were yeah yeah yeah that's seeing them sorry for the time of
59:28
recording they're working out today yeah yep pretty cool so then moving on to
59:34
our overview talked about for counted down didn't we the other week
59:40
and lo and behold we have here let's move that out though away so
59:48
it's not anyone's way we've got the assassin from your 100 plus
59:55
warhammer plus subscription here he is in all his glory we'll notice that i am all close because i um i don't have the
1:00:02
uh 4k app because you didn't yeah so you i've got unfortunately 12 months and i got mine a second-class
1:00:09
citizen um in terms of 100 plus i'm afraid so my man subscribership
1:00:15
but um yeah so here he is so as you can see as you've seen on all the photographs he's um
1:00:22
nestled in the uh i was going to say nestled in the bust of a of a of of a speed of a sister's a
1:00:29
battle but that comes across sounds like a bit naughty but i think in actual fact the statue would have been the bust of one if you
1:00:35
take it back to sexual terms but yeah so that's what it looks like from the front and then the eagle-eyed amongst you will
1:00:40
notice that i've got some super glue in there which was so that i could just put it
1:00:45
together enough you to see it and all together like so and then get the detail on the back of it but what i'll do now is i will uh
1:00:54
take that off put that down and there is the assassin
1:01:00
the vindica assassin with his horrendously large sniper rifle that is ludicrously big isn't it 72
1:01:07
inches fires on the table it's yeah it's ginormous i don't know what the rules for are
1:01:13
currently but i think it used to be if you got a headshot if you roll the six or something you could just keep right if you then you
1:01:19
just kept rolling them over yeah it was deadly yeah but that's so um there he is no i'm
1:01:25
pretty cool but the big queer the big question is how do you feel to him in a game when he comes with a big when he's attached to a
1:01:31
big piece big piece of scenery i don't know what the score is with him whether he's meant to be treated did he come with his own
1:01:38
set of rules does he just came with weapon rules like that yeah just them very minor ones that they give you
1:01:44
but um is it the same rules as the current assassin that you can buy uh well i think the most the most recent
1:01:50
assassin rules if i remember rightly are still eighth edition ah okay yeah um slowly
1:01:57
yeah so i don't know what the score is with them but the you know the i can't imagine the idea is going to be that you shuffle them around in the
1:02:03
scenery around the table i know the idea of these sometimes go the mismanager always counts as being in cover yeah but
1:02:09
literally moving around with cover would seem a little bit bizarre yeah yeah so um yeah that might be the
1:02:14
way he's doing i don't know he has his own little bush yeah constantly moves around see because i thought if he's going to
1:02:20
be a diorama which is still cool you know there's because you know it's chase it's a really nice
1:02:26
miniature would make a good die it's a good diorama piece i thought they'd have gone with a bigger base see that is the base that he would
1:02:33
that's the biggest size he was to make it unplayable in the game right yeah so i don't know what the score is with him as
1:02:38
was yet as what what you do with regards playing him i'm not sure but uh is it just a cool looking
1:02:43
miniature that they yeah absolutely right you know it worked for me it made me sign up yeah so yeah
1:02:50
but um yeah if you are looking at it and going no god there's a load of mould lines on that i know i just hastily put
1:02:55
it together for you guys who haven't got one as yet to be able to see it so the feet and that
1:03:00
uh platform platform that he's on all yeah well actually um
1:03:06
the base the platform the body uh everything about the arms the head the rifle
1:03:11
um it's all one piece was all one piece here so i guess yeah i guess you could just
1:03:17
not build it with this on yeah you could do yeah you keep that still looks like see the thing is you could go right well
1:03:23
i'm just going to knock that off put that on that base put some rubble up there angle it so the weapon isn't pointing as
1:03:30
near to the ground but then by the time you've done all that you can go out and there's still a perfectly good vindica assassin model
1:03:37
on the shelf where he's actually leaning up against a bit of wall like he's about to pop around and take a snapshot yes really lovely and you'd be destroying
1:03:45
a nice diorama piece for the sake of making them playable so
1:03:50
this is the the quandary with me to go i'm not quite sure what he does or how he works but yeah
1:03:57
it was still nicely very very much nice to get him in the post and i am looking forward to building him i'm gonna um
1:04:03
it will probably be going by the box art the um
1:04:09
the sister will probably the the the sister room will probably be my first go i try and go to um
1:04:16
the the dirty down um and the rust the rust and the uh and the
1:04:21
verdigris as well yeah so um yeah but i love this i really love i think it's great yeah and it you know
1:04:28
and it still has detail on the inside of it so the idea is that it looks like you are looking into the
1:04:34
the back of a statue there's the rivets and all the supports for how it would be from from the other side so i think
1:04:39
it's yeah it's it's nicely done and like i just not quite sure what you're
1:04:45
just not quite sure what you're meant to do with it but yeah i think it's cool i do think it's cool it has led me to think because we don't own of it me and
1:04:52
my son when we're putting his army together we haven't as yet got a hold of a vindicator assassin and now i'm
1:04:58
thinking do i need two do we need that one and then when he moves out of cover we have another one yeah i think i'm
1:05:03
climbing this other building oh it just happens to look like a sister a battle statue as well you know i don't know
1:05:08
where we're at were they but yeah but there we go no yeah that looks cool um it's interesting seeing like like yeah
1:05:15
they're more like human models and because i'm so used to paintings i say through youth too even though i'm quite
1:05:20
new to the old painting thing like mainly painting don't get me wrong he is still very tall he's very tall but he's very
1:05:27
slender yeah yeah he's a he's a skinny guy yeah
1:05:32
um but yeah no looks cool i'll be interested to see what you do with that yeah i don't think i'll do
1:05:38
anything too crazy i'll probably go quite similar to the box articles i thought but yeah but yeah
1:05:43
very happy when it turned up the only thing i did think was i thought i've got to be honest with photographs i
1:05:49
thought the um i thought this was going to be a bit taller i thought he was going to be a bit taller than i was quite surprised i
1:05:55
don't know when i when i seen it on the uh on the box i just thought he may be uh
1:06:01
it was going to be more sort of about the height i was quite surprised when it was all on that the
1:06:07
the the sister battle was quite so close to the bottom of it but yeah man equivalent yeah but other than that
1:06:13
yeah i think that's very cool so that's what will that's my review
1:06:18
of something new that i've come across there you go you waited long enough for it absolutely right i didn't have the speed
1:06:24
when i signed up what is it your sales change like every seven years that's right yeah you know
1:06:31
so you're coming here a seventh of the way to being a completely new jeff well i hope um because you've picked the orc
1:06:36
haven't you i did pick it up so the question is because you picked the orc and then i mean in like three months time yeah and then that means that it
1:06:42
gives you access to um it gives you access to buying
1:06:48
that one do you think you will no no
1:06:53
i don't i don't know like i said i said this last uh show i was like yeah i don't
1:06:59
think i will okay and you were like what you buy everything and i'm like yeah i've got a problem
1:07:04
[Laughter] but i i'm not
1:07:11
i think like space marines you know i can i feel like
1:07:17
at the minute a space marine is is is for me is like a great way of learning how to paint um yeah because
1:07:23
there's so many tutorials out there so many different ways to do them and i can practice glazing and trying
1:07:28
lighting and something yeah and and whatever um i mean i mean i'm limited by my own
1:07:34
imagination basically uh because i'd be like well just put in black um
1:07:40
like i don't think i'm good enough to do justice to yeah i know what you're getting to the paint job i think um or
1:07:47
by the time you're waiting by the time you get around to getting it you might be yeah that's a good point
1:07:52
that's a very good point so maybe maybe um or maybe i'll buy one paint it and just purposefully not drill the gun
1:07:59
barrel and uh just be like look internet in your face i paid for that barrel a
1:08:06
barrel a barrel troll yeah um but yeah currently
1:08:11
no you don't think you'll bother no and and also yeah i just maybe i don't quite like the models as as much as uh
1:08:19
like i i wouldn't be as excited to paint that as like an orc or no no i get it i mean no because he will be something
1:08:26
else he will be relatively drab when it's all put together you know i'll probably chop up a load of bits of sprue
1:08:31
and give it like a rubble sort of effect to hide the bits on the bottom but yeah i think they're his own
1:08:37
by the fact of the pure design of it there is only so much you're going to be able to do with it so he can go mad to you can't really go
1:08:44
massively to town on him because he's saddled inside the statue already so it's a lot of it is already dictated
1:08:50
for you i guess you're gonna you're gonna spend quite a bit of time well i guess i mean you're gonna paint
1:08:56
the front of him yeah and then she'd be like and then put yeah absolutely right yeah
1:09:02
that's it yeah yeah he goes through there through that one
1:09:07
through this one yeah and then there's two points in the back that then line did you just come down see them
1:09:14
you know what i'm not even gonna i'm not even gonna bother okay that's fine see
1:09:19
just destroy it i'll destroy my own miniatures first but yeah that's such a mess
1:09:25
yeah but there we go so that's um there he is for those um and i would say oh a little bit of advice if you are
1:09:31
waiting to get yours and you're thinking my timer has now run down on my
1:09:37
warhammer page and you don't know how to get it it's really a little bit ambiguous and i
1:09:42
have mentioned this to games workshop it said your your free miniature is on the way
1:09:48
and i was like great and then i just happened to be on a facebook page and i put
1:09:53
so i assume i don't have to do anything my miniatures on the way and someone went oh no you have to go in and like
1:09:58
fake buy it what yeah yeah exactly he went it says
1:10:04
your miniature is on the way right on the way suggests
1:10:11
someone's literally putting it in a box and sticking a sticker with your name on it doesn't it yes right like when you
1:10:16
order something normally yeah so what you actually have to do
1:10:21
you have to go into the shop right and pick vindica assassin
1:10:27
and then they'll be like the normal one and then they'll be like oh the because it's you jeff
1:10:33
subscriber here's the other one oh so then you have to do like a purchase
1:10:38
where there is no money right and then it gets better
1:10:45
is depends on how the cookies are set on your phone
1:10:50
it the it won't understand that you're buying something without money being
1:10:55
spent i ended up having to phone warhammer
1:11:02
to get to buy i had to get somebody to buy it for me over the phone at their end basically because i had cookie set
1:11:08
that it just wouldn't allow me disable to be able to buy i mean but it all said that the expression that got me was i
1:11:14
could have been sitting here in four years time going where's my manager because it said it's on the way okay so
1:11:20
that's not go into the shop and yeah order it i thought it was a really terrible
1:11:25
there's no literature from uh who said that she said oh well have you
1:11:30
well the email explains oh i was like oh maybe i'm shoddy because it's well known that i can be shoddy and
1:11:37
i thought maybe i'm being shoddy went in no email couldn't find it oh so
1:11:43
i mean obviously it's a stupid broken system well the thing is i understand because
1:11:48
the guy said well the problem being is people because i said you took my address and everything at the beginning and people and the guy said oh well you
1:11:55
know we have to do it this way because since you gave us your address to where we are now you might have moved yeah and
1:12:01
i said i wholeheartedly 110 agree with you but don't then put your military's on
1:12:07
the way yeah because it's not on the way no no it should say you can now
1:12:13
go and order order your 100 yeah okay like i mean
1:12:19
i'm surprised but then also i'm not because it's king's workshop because one more plus they obviously thought right
1:12:25
model okay we've got the model how we're going to give who cares let's just put this
1:12:30
model and then people can choose how we're going to get it don't doesn't matter yeah because on the day of
1:12:36
warhammer plus being released like we bloody work there and it was like oh so warhammerplus.com
1:12:45
is is a nothing website there's nothing there you have to go to warhammer tv or the vault yeah because it's just
1:12:52
it's this catch-all statement it's this catch-all title but everything is still individual inside here
1:12:58
which is yeah yes absolutely so we're almost back to whinging about warhammer plus again but um yeah model's all right
1:13:05
i don't think i would purchase it don't think i'll bother um but like it's cool i'm excited to see
1:13:11
you paint it oh that's right but we'll see what we get with it it might be something where i think i will
1:13:16
be using uh all by the moss i think the dirty down paints will be getting brought into full
1:13:22
effect to do it what i think you should do is get some green stuff and like model on some legs and tiny feet
1:13:30
and then and then it can that's how it gets around [Laughter] it's just in the back just a big pair of
1:13:36
levers right there but anyway there you go folks if you haven't seen it already
1:13:41
there it is and if you have got one coming and your timer is just about to run down
1:13:47
don't go sit there think someone's going to stick in a box while you have to pull your finger out and go and do it yourself and if you're in any doubt
1:13:53
phone games workshop oh i've got to be honest the customer service on it was really good i do have their christmas
1:13:58
service yeah they their customer service is really good and the guy who helped me with it couldn't be more helpful so he
1:14:04
was they got a big thumbs up from me from that but um i shouldn't have to be phoning them in
1:14:10
the first place it should have been simpler than that so there we go our review hobby hero
1:14:18
we've very accolade this week well we've alluded to him in the past haven't we well we well i say a loser to we've
1:14:23
mentioned blatantly mentioned him in the past alluded to him yeah mr richard gray
1:14:30
he is a sensation isn't he isn't he he um if you've not looked at any of richard
1:14:35
grey's work uh again it's a thing of when we keep mentioning people who are utterly amazing as
1:14:42
opposed to mention anybody who's more of a lay man like ourselves but sometimes you just go appreciate the art
1:14:48
for the heart's sake and richie gray i think definitely falls into that category some of his
1:14:54
yeah he did especially stands off for me because it's my
1:15:00
my army although not seen any of it on film as he is yet is i'm a death guard player and he did um
1:15:07
one of the uh marines of the death card marines originally released for the japanese
1:15:12
hero series being series three and um it was the one that was carrying
1:15:18
the plague spewer and it looks like it's been painted onto a piece of canvas doesn't it yeah the the
1:15:24
pictures at the end were phenomenal yeah there's so much color and depth and work onto it yeah it's
1:15:30
hard to believe it's on a 3d image yes yeah yeah it was that good like the the
1:15:35
the picture of it it looks like an actual painting yeah like it's it's
1:15:41
full on just art at this point the thing about that miniature as well is the fact that
1:15:46
it's not just the fact that it's beautifully painted some very unusual ideas and he painted
1:15:52
um as most of you all know death guard where uh their their accent colour next to the
1:16:00
green if you do them in the standard green is a a dirty brass which is
1:16:05
sort of had their degree and dents and chips and all of the things that sort of goes alongside this army that's in full
1:16:12
decay mode and then decides to go do you know what color is the ideal color to be painting um to be painting bronze on the on the
1:16:19
armor of these human flesh and literally started doing things like
1:16:24
canadian flesh tones and his left flesh to be able to create brass is it all non-metallic metal that
1:16:31
he's doing there yeah yeah and he did the whole thing he did all of the brass was just using the skin too was using
1:16:37
skin tones you think because you always think of like brass you think well it's not that far away from it's near gold and then
1:16:43
that means yellow and yeah yeah and he's just gone completely the opposite way he's gone into he's buried into the
1:16:48
pinks and the red of of the brass and it's really i just sat there watching it going and then he
1:16:55
did this he does these things where he sort of goes well i'm going to stipple a bit of light effect and just tap the top top and then you go
1:17:01
that's just phenomenal but he's this is the problem with him he's he's brilliant but he actually is mildly and fury because he's
1:17:08
just so ridiculously casual yeah yeah i mean like i i've watched um
1:17:13
like i've been on a bit of a horus heresy binge um recently because i mean that's what a
1:17:19
lot of the influencers have been putting yeah absolutely games workshop have been put in putting them out uh the tutorials
1:17:25
and stuff and like obviously i watched the imorious one because that's my jam um and seeing what everyone's doing and
1:17:31
yeah he did his uh blood angels the blood angel that he did in an hour in an hour
1:17:37
uh and then the imperial fist one that he released recently and yes
1:17:43
it's amazing yeah and and and again like like say he's so casual
1:17:49
um like when he's like you know this is just a gaming piece it doesn't need to be perfect and it looks better than
1:17:55
anything i've ever done um like i love his version of um
1:18:01
like all right yeah um like yeah i literally cut one of my hands off for that level
1:18:07
of all right yeah yeah yeah yeah i'd hold i told me model hand i'd all that's all the model modeling bit
1:18:14
with an egg with it with a claw to be able to paint that well yeah yeah and the man's got skill yeah he's big
1:18:21
fan of his oil washes i think isn't he yeah yeah he does indeed likes his oil washers but he does that thing which i love is
1:18:27
that um when you know someone's really good is that you have that sometimes you watch his miniatures and you just go oh
1:18:33
that looks a little bit all roping a bit all over the place and then he just has that bit where he just then just pulls
1:18:38
everything together in an instant yeah oh you know that's just like phenomenal you know
1:18:44
it's just it just seems to be a thing of going that car's not going fast enough to jump the grand canyon yes oh when it
1:18:50
made it you know he's like he's going you go i'm not quite sure where you're going then he goes oh i'm going to pull this oil wash on and then you go and then you
1:18:56
go and you go oh jesus christ that's brilliant yeah so lots of like unifying
1:19:02
uh elements yeah yeah you know if you paint to an amazingly
1:19:08
high standard and we've talked about this before you know it's lovely that you're here because even though you're not probably learning
1:19:14
much but if you can paint to a really high standard and you can look at richard gray's work and go oh i know how
1:19:20
to make something else that i know how to copy that i know how to take that pieces of advice on board and do
1:19:25
something with them good on you but for me i look at this stuff and think yeah that's not even
1:19:31
you know that's like my feels like i'm a chimp sitting there watching somebody doing robotics do you know for plebs like you
1:19:38
and me jeff yeah uh richard gray is aspirational yes is the word definitely aspirational inspirational
1:19:45
yeah but yeah he is another one of those a bit like um a bit like when we talked about marco last time he is yeah
1:19:51
somebody that if you can't mimic what he's doing or you don't take any good handy hips
1:19:58
hints and tips from him or full-on tutorials from at the very least it's worth just tuning in to just admire
1:20:04
somebody at the top of their game and enjoy it just for the sake of of art because you know it's not just
1:20:10
pushing it's not just pushing paint around a 3d image it is in its own in our its own way a piece of art yeah it
1:20:17
is you know yeah even at our stand and you're still producing art if you were if you were
1:20:22
wearing great at watercolors but you're putting on a canvas anyway you'd still be producing guards
1:20:27
so to see somebody at the top of their game doing art at that level yeah be it a toy soldier or not a toy soldier
1:20:35
it's still great to watch any yeah it's just such a really got a lovely placidly back way
1:20:40
about him as well as well you know like like with with a lot of the videography for uh like these the youtube tutorials
1:20:47
i mean i mean yeah he shows his palette yeah yeah
1:20:52
well done richard you show the consistency of your paints which means as an educator you have my
1:20:58
respect um as someone yeah i i just live off of those uh
1:21:05
those sort of tutorials that's like my my bread and butter but um yeah like
1:21:10
it's i mean you don't you don't see like him but like no no i've only ever seen him in by info
1:21:16
i tell you the first time i seen richard gray was a photograph of him when he came in when there was a buck my box of
1:21:22
artist opus brushes there was a picture him on there ah what's that yeah there's a list of artists that used his stuff
1:21:27
and he was there was a photograph yeah that was the only time about the only time i think i've ever seen him it's quite interesting on the uh like the
1:21:33
heresy uh videos that uh games workshop released with the interviews with the yeah he was there wasn't he because um
1:21:40
yeah he he was there and put you like seeing lots of the voices for the first time like say like
1:21:47
pete the war gamer yeah like seeing him for the first time and i was like you're younger than i thought
1:21:52
you would be he's got a he's got a really like mature voices peaked the war game wasn't it yeah yeah yeah
1:21:58
but um yeah richard sort of looked exactly like i thought he was going to look if i was being honest that's sort of yeah i can't
1:22:04
yeah well there you go in the nicest possible way just a really
1:22:09
ordinary sort of you know yeah so it's a guy you know just sort of with a quite a laid-back way about things but yeah
1:22:16
he's definitely worth your time go and have a look and if you if you're that way inclined he has a patreon as well so here's some
1:22:24
imagine there's some real juicy goodness behind there i may uh i may have a cheeky little sign up just to sit there
1:22:30
and gasp and realize how awful i am at my uh my hobby i mean it's like there's um
1:22:36
i can't remember the name of the guy but um there's a curve where you start doing something and you think
1:22:43
oh i'm i'm like doing really well at this like i'm really good and then you continue to improve but
1:22:51
then as you learn more you realize how good
1:22:56
people are and i i had it well like when i played guitar and when i started climbing like you learn wonderwall and
1:23:03
you're like oh my god i can play like a really famous pop song i'm great oh yeah
1:23:08
and i was like 11 at the time um so please call me some smack um but then you're like oh actually like joe
1:23:15
satriani exists and like all of these other incredible act like guitarists and then we're climbing with all these
1:23:20
athletes and and and you think like oh i've progressed from here to here in this time but then
1:23:26
to progress from there to there is like astronomically bigger and i think yeah
1:23:31
like just watching somebody that good um with such a command of like all the
1:23:37
colors well is that that sort of expression isn't it i'm probably slightly amazed with the model and it
1:23:42
makes me realize how little i'm now yes yeah that's it that's it and and i think like
1:23:47
that's why i mean i'm always quite quite critical of my work and and i say like i'm crap it's because i'm like comparing
1:23:53
myself to uh to to the richard grey's in the world i just think if you know if youtube
1:24:00
didn't exist you would only compare yourself to what you've seen in the cabinet of of your local uh games
1:24:05
workshop shop and you might be feeling quite happier about your work interestingly when when we were there um
1:24:11
we went to warhammer world and and i had a look at some warriors and i was like
1:24:17
i mean there was a full army there but i was like mine aren't any more than that yeah oh yeah
1:24:23
absolutely and and like you know i've done my hat yeah oh i put a bit more effort into my hands and stripes than
1:24:29
that but that's an entire army and i'm just paying like one thing yeah um and all that sort of stuff like i mean and
1:24:35
it's taken me bloody forever to paint it um but um yeah i think yeah like even if
1:24:43
i'm not gonna replicate one of those tutorials they're done in such a way that they're engaging they're
1:24:48
informative and even if i'm not gonna paint that miniature there's something i can take away from it yeah um
1:24:54
and yeah he's great i think he's fantastic yeah he really is he really is he's he's just it's just
1:25:00
there's just such a there's just a richness to the work isn't he yeah he's a real richness no
1:25:06
and and a warmth to what he produces and he and just this just stippling on some
1:25:11
light effects that just looks like he makes it look like the easiest thing in the world and you know it really really isn't but he's
1:25:18
yeah he's he's like i said last time with marco you just want to go and appreciate the arc go and have a look at him and if you can
1:25:25
go there and get some hints and tips out from them well done you but richard gray yeah definitely gets a
1:25:30
recommendation from us absolutely go and check him out yeah yeah yeah yeah he is uh sublime that's a good choice to wear is
1:25:37
i like that it's a very good choice a word so then we've um we've gone to town on warhammer plus
1:25:43
yeah we've made we've made our own warhammer tv show yeah we've done pretty much it now i'll learn obviously ours are
1:25:49
going to be way better than whatever they can do i'm just going to go i'm going to phone netflix because if you watch netflix it thinks it's just green
1:25:54
lights anything have you ever seen that episode of um have you ever seen that episode of south
1:25:59
park where they phone netflix yeah i think he goes he goes hello hello netflix you're
1:26:04
green you're green lit that's the way to go yeah um
1:26:10
yes we've had a little bit of a go at warhammer plus um because mainly we've we've give you a number of goes now when
1:26:16
you haven't pulled your finger to you were doing a bastion tonight at what point do we stop i mean this is
1:26:21
this is it when when jeff stop it
1:26:26
um and and we're just gonna be oh let's tune in to jeff and pat and they're just gonna bash one plus this week if you
1:26:34
look you know we do this show for you we do for our like our opportunity to have
1:26:39
a good natal because you know yeah me and pat don't see each other all week other than when we come here for this so
1:26:44
you know we have a good matter about these things your hair and us pouring our brain out to each other it's not rehearsed it's not scripted
1:26:50
if you want to write it and go full of a god stop talking about warhammer plus i'm not saying we will but we'll take it
1:26:55
on board yeah yeah oh if you want the show to be 45 minutes
1:27:01
shorter getting touched and tell us to stop talking about whatever plus every time every time i feel a bit down i just
1:27:08
like click on warhammer plus and then instantly just feel better i feel better about my own life well at least it's
1:27:14
doing a service for you at the very least it could be worse i could be warhammer plus or even to
1:27:19
you know if there's something we don't talk about and you would like us to talk about get in touch and we'll do our best if it's within our
1:27:25
our sphere of awareness our wheelhouse any other sort of life coaching cooking
1:27:31
um all that stuff you know how to set up a good only fans
1:27:37
page any of those things you know so i think that's pretty much on that i
1:27:44
think that might be done as we always say just paint your next miniature better
1:27:49
than the last one and again thanks for all the subs and the comments and goodbye bye see you later
1:28:16
you
