this video is sponsored by Squarespace hello I'm
0:07
Jeff there's the contractually oblig go obligations go this is Bal on Q as well
0:13
amazing well done and I'm Patrick and welcome to the Payton phas
0:19
go on then off your go don't get on your couch or sit on the floor and stare at me one or the other perfect oh what
0:27
youve been up to this week um what have I been up to this week I've had quite a nice nice relaxing weekend I
0:34
was like I'm not going to come into the office I still did but only for like five minutes and then I left um playing
0:41
lots of Guitar this week oh good because you you've had quite a while off playing guitar oh like like ages yeah yeah um so
0:49
that's been really nice too so you did Stairway to Heaven Smoke on the Water I did what did I do um I did all
0:57
sorts L like my musical taste when electric guitar is concerned is firmly
1:04
rooted in in like metal uh so I kind of went through some of the old Metallica
1:09
tunes that I used to play and Iron Maiden but then some more modern stuff as well Trivium and so on and so very
1:16
good fun myself I used to listen to yeah C from getting ill so yes anyone that
1:21
normally says oh the breathing's a bit heavy on this show you normally right and often it is me and it's cuz I'm
1:27
normally carrying some version of a cold cuz I have children and they're just walking Petri dishes so today will be
1:33
sniffs and coughs and what sounds like horrific gaspin for air so I apologize
1:39
in advance for those listening through headphones I'm really sorry uh what have I done uh wife's birthday so comedy went
1:46
off for a meal went to see some comedy went off for a meal that was nice um did a bit of painting this week wonderful um
1:54
um currently uh on a mission at the moment because it's not like I haven't got enough to do uh I'm on a mission of
2:01
this week to really try and see if I can figure out um light directional light on
2:08
um the metallic Marines and Payton oh I mean this is where this is where you
2:14
know if you want the true direction of light you're going to have to do non metallic yeah I know I'm not doing any
2:20
of that nonsense I'm 52 pass I haven't got enough time
2:26
left start L than that can I'm in bad sheap B yeah I'll be dead before I
2:31
figured that out so would that would this be true metallic metal true metallic metal so that is using metallic
2:38
paints to then do this bits dark this bits light so what I did was I just sprayed it black put it next to to
2:47
natural light coming through a window and photographed it yeah and try to figure it and so I'm using um one of my
2:54
favorite colors being uh AK uh I'm not
2:59
sorry a li valo um black metal black metal yeah which I do love covered the
3:07
whole miniature in that and then I'm starting to and then I'm you going up to uh
3:12
gunmal okay from AK and then AK keep saying that Vallejo and then also then
3:18
moving into vallejo's um aluminium and so on and do some blending of between
3:23
paints to try and get some of that and then with the gold I've been um using the streams here with regards
3:31
Rangers have been using um scale 75's decayed metal as a starter
3:37
that I've been going in with uh a Vallejo uh gold yeah and then I've been
3:42
using um I can't quite remember the name of it
3:47
but it's a monument color that uh proac color so that looks it's um it's like
3:53
silver with a hint of gold oh right oh can't remember what that's what it's called it's just bright gold might be
4:01
really bright gold but but it's it's literally almost like a it's almost like a silver so I've been using that as a
4:07
final highlight white gold that's the fella white gold yes I've been using that to finish off so trying to figure
4:13
it all out a little bit at the moment um I just trying to just wanted the I'm
4:18
always trying to make the commanders look like they pop a little bit a bit more you know yeah that's interesting
4:25
like I um I did use some of these on um on our uh Dark Angel successes yeah so I
4:33
was like oh I haven't um I haven't used proc metallics in a in a long time and
4:39
you can see the cap on this one is completely clean yes so that means I've never used it yeah cuz you never the cap
4:45
never goes back to being completely clean once you opened the bottle yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah um and it's it's so
4:51
interesting like I is it so interesting um I'm quite used to using um like my
4:58
favorite metallic to use are the um yeah Vio um game air series yeah um just cuz
5:05
they just go on so smooth and the coverage is incredible like that put it
5:11
on a dry pallet load up your brush dab it off on a paper towel a little bit and then go to town yeah and it's um and
5:17
it's like perfect every time you still use them frge highlighting and all that sort of thing these These are so much thicker they are they do need to be thin
5:25
and and I like I put it on my wet palette and I was like oh God that's really thick and gloopy and then I thinned it down too much and I was like
5:31
a I had a bit of a May with them actually um I'm not going to go as far to say that like oh I don't like them
5:37
they're not very good um they're just different and I and the thing is is they do have their own Medium as well so you
5:43
know that helps you with the you know PR do their own metallic medium which helps you break things down a little bit more
5:49
as well so yeah so I've been trying to um figure that out um the the funny
5:55
thing is is that I've been having enough success with it that when I've been sh people there they've not been able to
6:01
see what I've been doing because then they assumed that's just the light yeah
6:07
hitting the metal so I've then had to move out of the light when I'm showing them cup me hand round it and then go
6:14
now look and they go look there's no and they go oh and I'm like 10 the minutes you go look this side's dark that side's
6:20
light I've done a good enough job over it that people can't tell what I'm talking about I that would have done such a bad job of it no one can tell
6:26
what I'm talking about like have you if you were trying to explain to a non
6:33
miniature painter like what you'd done and like you know that I'm
6:39
not it's like are you wasting your time if if like someone looks at it and they
6:45
go I don't I don't know what you mean wait come over here into this really dark corner like this is the problem
6:50
because I because I painted the barber shop and people are generally V Po and if they've got enough minutes between
6:56
haircuts I'll carry on painting and people come in um probably 50% of the people come in and go what are you doing
7:03
and I go I'm painting this uh I'm painting this miniature and then they'll go you've got a lot of different color
7:09
Metals out and I'm like yeah cuz I'm doing this thing where it looks like it's being lit from one side and and as
7:15
I'm saying that the person looking at me starts to just hear the tune from Magic round about playing and just sees my
7:22
lips moving nothing else is going into their brain so um yeah so it's trying to
7:27
explain it to people who AR in the is a bit difficult and CU I'm an overe explainer as well I am then walking into
7:35
a dark and bit of the shop with the Min coping me hand round and say something if you imagine the light was coming from
7:41
that side and now we're at you degree we're now in some level of Darkness yeah I think uh I think what will happen is
7:47
that with every person who comes into the shop who says what you painting if
7:53
they go through that it'll eventually dwindle away where nobody ever asks again yeah that's it like you know bring
7:59
it up to to in in the nicest possible sense dumb it down yes um just like I'm
8:05
painting a sword yeah I'm just painting this yeah got a lot of paints out Jeff yeah it's a complicated sword yeah fine
8:11
done but me and my obsession were like oh you know sh you know well have you ever heard of true metallic metal and
8:18
you be like what as opposed to imaginary metallic metal like what it's
8:23
such a slippery slope isn't it yeah yeah um because I mean I've I've never I've
8:29
never really done anything remotely sort of interesting with with metallics um
8:35
because I I generally go base coat wash highlight a very straightforward sort of
8:41
way um I have been messing about with what I've been using to shade them a bit
8:47
more recently because I've I've like I think I'm I'm looking at my metallics that I've done and I'm like I don't
8:53
really don't really like them that much yeah um like I want to put a bit more into them
8:59
um and like I feel like i' I've been going through my streaking Grime phase
9:05
as as watch of the channel might know um and I've been kind of doing the
9:10
metallics washing with streaking Grime or like putting like you know a mat sort of wash on them or something like that
9:16
and not really liking the results cuz you just get this weird like dirty gray like it just looks a bit weird and then
9:22
you highlight it again you're like okay this kind of looks like metal now um so I've been going back to using null oil a
9:29
bit and see what that's like um and some contrast paints like thin down and and that kind of thing so they kind of still
9:36
maintain the sort of brightness a little bit um but I'm still not Mega happy with
9:43
it so yeah maybe I'll try like building it up that kind of like with gold yeah
9:50
like decayed metal and El is it Elven elv and gold I think and sort of mixing
9:55
them and and bringing them up um that way as opposed to to washing them um
10:04

phase for 10% off your first purchase of a website or domain I mean yeah it's
11:39
it's just trial and error isn't it and seeing what you like I I do really want to try I want to try non- metallic metal
11:46
more than I do true metallic all right um so that might be a another video I'm
11:53
scared of non metalic um seven videos later I'm still scared of non metal
11:59
yeah yeah seven videos later oh I've won a golden demon I mean no that's pure by
12:05
accident cuz everybody knows if you do non metallic metal you win a Golden demon that's how that's how it works
12:12
yeah yeah so so you have a controller in your hand I have a controller in my hand and um we have a camera on the table
12:18
here pointing at something that the viewers can't see power wash simulator you head of
12:25
this vaguely my son uh younger son has been on a mission for about 3 or 4
12:32
months now to clean Vans houses Pavements
12:38
using uh a pressure hose in a simulation on a PS5 okay I've mocked it
12:47
relentlessly my wife has got angry at the thought that he wants to clean other people's houses but W clean his own
12:52
bedroom to which he's replied you won't let me take a power washer up there which is a good answer and I took no
12:59
real notice of it and then my interest was sparked when he came to me and said
13:05
they're doing a Warhammer 40,000
13:11
DLC I I initially laughed and then uh it came out he
13:17
downloaded it on Friday and it to be fair it was the grand total of about £650 okay and uh I've watched him over
13:24
the weekend cleaning numerous vehicles and uh and enough if I bring it up uh
13:30
one of the vehicles that he he can clean okay let's cut to to monitor c yeah if I
13:36
go into free play so we've got four vehicles currently we've got a land
13:42
Raider which is uh it's Forge Temple ring ofine Mars is where the cleaning's
13:48
going on I think it's a bit annoying that that um Space Marines have to lose
13:53
their vehicle take it all the way to Mars just to get a wash oh yeah and then bring it back you go in the middle of a
13:59
battle go that's got really dir start start cleaning cleaning a night and then we'll we can um well we can start
14:04
cleaning a night or we could start I was going to say we could go redemp to dread North and then it looks like it's been
14:10
you with your uh going crazy you going crazy with your um removing the streaking Grime
14:17
yeah so so this is this is something of Interest I think with the kind of like
14:23
the a trend at the moment like Workshop specifically 40K is is definitely like
14:30
penetrating into or like you know normal society
14:35
yeah yeah that's it so outside of the hobby um
14:41
and like we had Space Marines and Orcs on stamps yes fairly recently um and and
14:49
this is something really interesting that I find like licensing at Games Workshop is a relatively small
14:56
department but they make millions and millions I think the last the last Financial year they made 25 million quid
15:05
on licensing um they made 25 million quid by saying yes and from what I understand it's a
15:12
it's a small Department yeah the vast majority of that money will be profit oh
15:20
absolutely yeah if it's if what like if four you know three four people might
15:25
might work in in said Department you might have 100 Grand 150 Grand on on wages and then
15:34
and then you've got over 24 and a half million profit um
15:39
which is you know obviously incredible it makes them a lot of money um I get the
15:46
impression they may have to sort of say uh and this comes from actually from someone whose hair I cut once or a long
15:53
time ago where when they um they do sometimes have to go that
15:59
not um that's not quite 40K enough can you add more skulls more skulls on it do
16:06
this and stuff like that so so I think they do I think they must have to be a big bit of input from um don't get me
16:14
wrong for all we know power wash simulator has got a lot of 40K fans who work there which wouldn't surprise me no
16:21
no but um so uh if we look at this for a second it looks like you've gone heavy with that that green that sort of green
16:27
streaking stre and grime is like a greeny brownie sort of color I mean it does annoy people that AK keep changing
16:34
the recipe yes I've heard that but there's uh someone else oh is it um
16:40
pre-ordered them for the life of me I can't remember the name um there's uh Grim dark compendium potentially right
16:48
YouTube channel he's bringing out his own enamel washes and one of them is is kind of like what similar to what
16:54
streaking Grime used to be like that sort of greeny brownie sort of tone
16:59
um which is really really interesting um but yeah this is this
17:05
is so ridiculous I like the fact that the adeptus mechanic is have an entire department just dedicated to just giving
17:12
stuff a wash yeah yeah I mean this is Cannon obviously do you think at the end of it though like because you know I
17:17
occasionally go and get my uh my while our two Vans Washed by somebody else
17:24
instead of doing it myself my main question is now you know at the end of this M will they give this like a little
17:30
dangling air fresh just to put on it like it would like you know it would want to go to my one the car wash I used
17:36
to go to um before I moved it would give me like a heart one a that's very sweet
17:42
oh wait that's that's was it that's the millennial heart and then that's like the Gen Z one they do it with different
17:48
fingers that one's just like looks really painful yeah I don't think my friend fingers would bend like that
17:54
anymore now you don't know that I'm I'm early onset arthritis yeah yeah but this sort of stuff I I find really
18:00
really interesting so 40K obviously the Amazon TV show is going to
18:07
happen yep which will be massive for Warhammer and I think there's such a
18:14
market for it like I I rewatched the first season of the Halo TV series
18:20
fairly recently oh yes which I've not seen any of and and season 2 is a lot
18:26
better um but season one is
18:32
interesting like the chief like really has his helmet on and it is the same in
18:37
season two to be fair um but they've tried to you know here here is like this power armored
18:43
um character who doesn't talk in the game yeah like he does a little bit um
18:50
never takes his helmet off you never see his face you don't know sort of what he looks like or anything like that but and
18:56
and we talked about this a little bit as well like with the Series going like oh if they if they follow a Space Marine
19:03
yes like they're going to have to humanize them a bit more and they've done that with Master Chief they've gone
19:09
like oh You' had a behavioral chip put in so you don't really feel stuff all
19:14
you do is follow orders yeah um but he's taken it out so now he's a bit more
19:19
human he's a bit more relatable and and I can completely understand why they've done that from a TV series perspective
19:26
it has to be Halo it has to like you have to have Master Chief um but if he's
19:32
a really boring character that doesn't have any like struggle if he's just like
19:37
yeah I'll go to point A and B and just kill Covenant like fine that's really
19:43
quite dull to watch but then what they've done is kind of like it's again it's it's better in
19:49
season two than it is in season one but I think a lot of fans felt like they' kind of gone oh here's all this law and
19:56
everything that's been built up over 20 years years yeah 25 years and then they just
20:01
went yes new stuff MH um so there's there's such a market
20:07
for a fan you know something like like a
20:12
Warhammer series but that is taken like you know there's enough cool characters
20:18
in Warhammer that I don't think you have to go Marines are super cool and quirky
20:23
now excuse me to apologize so like
20:29
I it's it's really good this I like I have zero interest in I can't imagine
20:35
myself playing it like it looks it looks kind of fun we know what we know what chapter that uh we do now yeah that
20:42
dreadn is um I think I made have gone over mentally some of the streaking Grime in the grooves and stuff I think I
20:47
might I think I've used you can always put more on yeah maybe that's just reactivates with white Spirit see I've
20:53
just looked through the settings of different types of nozzles and all the rest of it but there doesn't seem to be wool bu and white Spirits terrible
21:00
that's maybe maybe try enamel thinner maybe um and I think this is a perfect
21:07
example of um you know if you don't like it it's it's not designed for you like
21:12
you said your son got this yeah my my youngest boy who's 10 who's um becoming
21:18
uh he's a 40 a 40K fan but only law yeah he doesn't if I've said to
21:25
him do you want to let do you want to play and he's like not really yeah um mainly because he said oh it looks a bit
21:30
complicated but he's he's my youngest boy's extremely bright I think he'd cope but he's not massively interested but
21:37
he's devouring even though they can be quite violent he's devouring because there's plenty of knocking around the
21:42
house he's finding and devouring the books like nobody's business yeah so he's enjoying them and um he's really
21:49
likes the models and he's interested in what everything looks like so to go from cleaning some American house and a van
21:56
and an SUV to been able to clean dreadnots Knights land Raiders go dawn
22:01
yeah it's you know it's ticking all of the boxes for him so um so he's really
22:07
he really likes it it's not would I sit and play this myself no I I find it a
22:12
likable odity yeah you know uh but it does feel like it feels like 40K
22:20
especially because I think when you look at oldw and AJ Sigmar to some degree
22:27
they just see to fit into the pre-existent troopes of of of fantasy
22:32
fantas dwarfs as well I know a lot that still exists in 40K as well but um the gothic and the
22:39
weirdness of 40K seems to be sort of seeping out a little bit and it does
22:46
feel that unless there is really like I say some 40K fans at power wash simulator HQ that it's just feels like
22:55
it's the beginning of the ball Rolland doesn't it yeah yeah I I think like there's there's a couple of of
23:02
interesting things about this like 40K is like it was on South those it was a
23:07
South Park episode like last year um where the kids are just playing and like
23:13
they like oh Mom's away for the weekend we can do whatever you want and and then they're just playing 40K and the dad's
23:19
just like what um and it's starting to see and and to be fair to him I don't want to feel like I'm hijacking a
23:26
concept from another um another um content creators show but squid M did
23:31
this a couple of weeks ago he looked at um wargame and chaining up in things oh
23:36
right okay and you know and it was like in one of the houses they passed through in the last of us two there is a whole
23:41
Dusty War gaming table laid out interesting and yeah and it's starting just starting to feel like it's becoming
23:48
more current and CU there's there's yeah a couple of things I guess worthy of
23:54
note is something I've I've sort of heard and and perhaps been more aware of
24:00
the more the longer I've been in the hobby is Warhammer is maybe less quirky now um
24:10
yeah and is is you know your your primaris Marines look more like your
24:15
master chief kind of thing like when you when you look at the old uh like Rogue Trader and and have like kill and and
24:23
this that and the other on them whereas now they're sort of like yes brother I'm stoic and I'll save Humanity like
24:30
there's there's that sort of element to it um like you as we said before we started recording like the Jean Steelers
24:37
used to be you know there isn't a word in the genan stealer language for consent
24:43
should we say um like that whereas now
24:48
they're sort of like they still don't know what that is um but they there's a little scar on the side of you and they
24:55
implant you with stuff um right rather than do a business yeah um so it it's it
25:03
it seems like but they do still suggest that afterwards the human race starts to get really busy with it yes yes yeah but
25:09
the initial hope but but that's all you know with their partners and consensual all totally fine yeah um you
25:17
know Mr Mr John uh Soldier yeah um gets
25:22
implanted and then goes back to his loving wife and says let's make a jean Stiller
25:29
the rest of the week off Mrs Soldier yeah yeah or um you know we can still
25:36
keep it Grim dark he then cheats on his wife with another implanted lady and
25:41
they make Jean Steeler babies um and it's horrific because he's destroyed the sanctity of marriage that's the main
25:49
problem yeah yeah horrific um but it's all consens imagine the early days of having to be the marriage counselor who
25:55
didn't realize there was a gene Steeler cult work on their Planet i s of going and he just went off with this other
26:01
woman that's a spinoff show isn't he yeah and what led you to feel he always wears hats now yeah and what led you
26:07
what you felt led you to do that John I don't know I don't know just did do you love your wife yes but I love
26:15
the forearm oh no no no yes I love my wife um so that's a show another show um
26:23
I was have got so busy so is yeah I I guess like there's elements like that
26:28
they run the risk of of like the disn ification of 40K well they did it a
26:34
little while ago didn't he I talked about this um because that was always something that has always been extraordinarily grim and then they were
26:41
even they went back and changed it didn't he was the fact that they used to be that the cherubs were all dead babies
26:47
and then they went oh no not anymore oh no no that's not the case they grown in a V yeah like uh death cor Creek they're
26:55
you know they're grown for the job sort of thing and you're like yeah you know I'm not
27:00
saying that's a bad thing cuz like I've said before how horrific would be if you were just walking the streets of Terror
27:05
and some priest walk by you having his his cloak being held up by you know your
27:11
dead child is C Wings would be awful so yeah so I think there is sort of
27:17
rounding of the edges I think a little bit within in it going forwards and I think as well like again cuz you can't
27:25
see it coming up in 40K t is like you go where exactly the services come from you
27:31
know and they go the criminals in some cases if I remember rightly and if I'm wrong please do tell me and some cases
27:38
I'm sure Services used as well were sometimes Space Marines that had failed
27:44
oh right okay all like the implantation gone and they went yeah stick a stick some forklift truck arms on them and put
27:50
them in put them in a hanger you know what I mean so all of it's a bit it's all a bit Yeah mentioned it before like
27:57
is um in one of the Warhammer crime novels they go to a ctor factory oh that must be yeah that must be pleasant and
28:03
because I think there's some ctors that are killing people um and they go to the factory where they're made and it's like
28:11
they they're not insanely graphic with what they do but
28:17
they are enough that you can imagine what's going on I don't you don't need to tell me any more than that I cringe
28:23
just thinking about it like it's it's horrible and you know as well as like you know there no life for the um for
28:31
the for the astropaths like you know in the first eyes and Horn novel they've got that really blessing sweaty man who
28:38
can't be any more than about 25 who's just covered in plugs you never see him outside of his cabin they all die really
28:44
young and they all die really because he just bearing them out and you know and and Eisen horn never talks about him
28:51
with any fondness no like everyone everyone hates astropaths and like they're a bunch of weaklings and and
28:57
it's like you like if you're a psychic and you stub your toe and you go ah and
29:02
you're like and then a footnote at the end of the and the page of that black Library novel it's like yes eisenh horn
29:08
stubbed his toe and his psychic scream killed 17 astropaths like they're just so
29:14
feeble like the way the way that they're written like it's it's hilarious the disdain that they have um it's like you
29:22
know I I use my microwave 23 hours a day and then eventually go g up the the
29:28
ghost so I shot at and then swore at it and blamed it you know and it's just think they really
29:34
feel sorry for them you know and you know like the the the night lws trilogy I I won't do the spoilers because it's
29:41
in book three but some horrific things happen to to astropaths um they are
29:47
treated as like subhuman um but it's it's the skill that they have that everybody needs but they're just like I
29:54
hate you yeah it's yeah it is the massively relied on but no one likes them and no one trusts them you know
30:01
what I mean you think yeah so um yeah so I think that you know I think when they go
30:07
forward I think it' be very impressive if they because obviously I know everyone's talking about t a TV show
30:14
that's a long way from being ma but some of these elements you think if you bring them in you've really got your air cut
30:21
out to make you you make your Heroes look like Heroes when there's a whole sub
30:28
element of humans that are are just getting a really rough time for a really
30:33
really desirable skill yeah you know yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah like people only put up with The Navigators because
30:40
of like they're like burn the mutant apart from them they're useful yeah the one with three eyes we need them because
30:46
because they can fly our ships and stuff that's fine um so that's that's really
30:52
interesting so this back in the day in this country we don't want you in this country anymore since brexit oh hang on
30:57
a minute have you got HTV license remember that yes it's a very similar sort of Aid
31:03
is it yeah oh yeah yeah that's it yeah good at good at driving yeah space
31:10
trucks um yeah so I think like I think this game is kind of like
31:17
a I I would look at it almost as a as a gateway drug I think for getting getting
31:24
kids hooked into playing it that sort of stuff and as much as it isn't for me it
31:29
does expand the the universe and Warhammer and it will bring more people into it I think with the licensing stuff
31:37
the other question is like we we had a a game like we it's getting to a point now
31:44
where there's so much licensed stuff yes that you kind of think is it any good is it is it like relevant uh and and that
31:52
kind of thing so we we brought out the Warhammer Monopoly we did yes um and
31:57
and spoilers one of us had a far better time with it than the other yeah and like does that bring
32:05
anything to Warhammer I imagine it will bring them a lot of money yeah and
32:10
that's what's important does it improve the brand of 40K or does it cheapen it
32:15
well you know I was saying this because after uh I played it I was round of bestie besty Tim's house and Tim if he's
32:24
watching does he watch I don't know I I he he's very sketchy on that um I think
32:30
he I think once a week on a Tuesday is enough for him I don't think he needs to see more than once a week anymore you
32:35
already bought a smaller house to try and get rid of yeah he yeah still not giv in um but he was like horrified
32:43
literally horrified that they hadn't changed the houses and the hotels he said cuz I said oh they're called
32:49
Outpost and fortification instead of houses and hotels yeah and he was like so they like little thought was like no
32:57
he said you know the little green houses and you went yeah well the little green he was like no he was literally yeah
33:03
lied with regards to the idea that they had they hav't changed them yeah so so
33:09
yeah 4K Monopoly is I keep pointing over there because that's where it is um
33:14
congratulations um Audio Only listeners um there is to my right or you know
33:20
camera left um it it seems like a bit of a chem scrap oh yeah like I
33:27
I don't think it like it's no different to well and then there's 40K risk yeah but in 40K risks
33:35
defense all of the figures and the vehicles are correct yeah so you can play Jean Steelers and Jean Steeler
33:42
Cults I should say and they do have little trucks which are actually really cute oh right so they you know they've
33:47
done a bit more with that and they um they seem to have leaned into the the
33:53
law a little bit better than Monopoly it's a very thin mon 40K Monopoly is a
33:59
very thin skin isn't it over over Monopoly yeah yeah yeah you know you can't Monopoly is such a legacy game you
34:08
you can't reskin it no really or I mean I mean they have reskinned it you can't change the mechanics you know because
34:15
they haven't got go to jail you know that could have been go to go to a Blackstone Fortress couldn't it it's like no just like it's like it seems to
34:22
be designed so people that don't understand the 40K Universe can still play and pretty much understand what's going
34:29
on go what's a black stone Fortress no just keep calling the jail and the fact that there's still free parking for what
34:35
for what you land ra right whatk you know so it's it's a bit
34:41
bizarre um and then you've got also as well we don't see them quite as much as here in the UK but
34:47
um game uh GW give all the required bits over don't for license and for these
34:53
weird little games that a lot of the time exist in things like Barnes and no oh yes yeah but I think they have like
35:00
say there was the Space Marine game that was released you get like the one Marine fig be in and then a load of uh nids
35:09
yeah um and yeah I've bought I haven't bought that one I bought um another one
35:16
somewhere um it's hiding um it's where you get like one Marine from each
35:21
faction comes on like a colored a colored sprew so it's kind of like you don't have to paint them if you don't want to they're more boxed games than
35:30
that kind of thing um and they seem to be designed to be played by the casual or non 40K player rather and and again I
35:37
guess that's I just get the impression they bought by people who play 40K to then play with a mate in the hope of
35:42
trying to coax them in yeah again sort of Gateway Games yeah that's it so I think um I guess that you know this and
35:51
power wash simulator 40K Edition are very are very similar because like board games are massive yeah um like my
35:59
partner and I like we play a lot of board games um and of a variety of
36:05
different genres like you know you have your exploding kittens and um and uh a
36:12
bunch of other things that I'm so terrible at thinking on the spot flux and you know easier ones but then you
36:17
have like wingspan and this that and the other where it's like oh I've got I've got this bird um but because its
36:23
wingspan is over this certain length I get to put an extra egg on and and like
36:30
oh it's this kind of habitat are you making that up or is that a real game no no no is totally yeah yeah and um don't
36:37
don't even get me started on the uh the the the European expansion um and then
36:44
and it you have like because it's in the US there's going to be a 40K version that where the main bear to try and go
36:50
be a double head of the eagle yeah um so those games like insanely
36:57
popular loads of people pick them up and play them um so if you can get Warhammer
37:02
into that more like casual board gaming market and then go oh that's actually really interesting um like yeah we we
37:09
picked up a a Lord of the Rings game it's like a book uh and you fold it out
37:15
and you have some PVC plastic minis right um for some of the main Fellowship
37:22
characters um that are in like every every one and it's kind of like a a story book and it's like oh you have to
37:28
get here before blah blah blah blah blah um and the Miniatures are crap like they like Aragon sword is way too short and
37:34
bendy um and and but they're they're good enough like you look at it and you
37:40
go that's gimy that's Frodo that's marry and Pippin that's legal ass um you know
37:45
they're not as detailed as as like Workshop does but they're still really
37:51
really popular you've got like zombie side yeah um with godam that box is
37:57
massive and that's full of zombies and then a few Heroes um and the figures
38:03
aren't bad for zombie size no no and but then I think GW they never do something
38:09
like that because they're multi-part plastic they you you'd have all your sprew wouldn't you yeah um comes a bit
38:16
of a problem doesn't it yeah so I mean they do color plastic um but I think if
38:21
they if they did a if they managed to get into that market I think I think
38:27
that would be way more beneficial than cleaning off a Redemptive dreadn
38:32
and the funny thing is is that when they do their own board games they never seem to have that much faith in them themselves to the like they you know
38:39
space Hulk does extraordinarily well for them and then they bring it back every
38:44
now and again yeah and it's loved and they won't keep it on a shelf yeah they
38:49
just do it as and when you know and K City had it run and cuz yeah cuz K city
38:55
was the demand for that was utterly insane yes um and that is is more of a
39:02
all-in-one sort of board game experience isn't it so CU I think that that portion of the
39:08
market potentially is is bigger than playing full games of 40K possibly if
39:15
they if they had a that that would appeal to me more I think um cuz I I
39:22
very much like the law I love building and painting um and then the gaming element of it if is is out out of the
39:30
three prongs of Warhammer I think gaming is my my third one and it's not to say that I don't like it I like building and
39:37
painting and hearing about body gloves more uh which is bizar but there we go
39:44
um yeah so I think if if they released like here's a game here's you know s
39:49
like black stone Fortress or whatever like here here 10 unique Miniatures um and this board game I be all over that
39:57
like um yeah and and this is it isn't it is the fact like you know they did they ran Blackstone Fortress for a while and
40:03
I know you can still get the main game still seems to be knocking about but getting the expansions is extraordinarily difficult okay um and so
40:11
you think you know it's not they sort of release them and then don't really support them for very long and uh it's
40:17
not like their Core Business is it no no no and then you s they get them out there and then s go well that that was a
40:25
thing and then we're done now you it's and know you think I think if they I
40:30
think if they really I think if they they I personally think they could pretty much keep space Hulk on the shelf
40:35
and they keep going yeah all the time you know and especially you know if they were to do spacehulk again now I went
40:43
right new size Terminators yeah all badged up as blood angels yeah oh it'
40:49
fly after the shelves yeah you know cuz then them um them blood Angel Terminators from the last edition of it
40:55
were massively sought after on eBay oh yeah I I um I found them all I think I
41:01
could find them all apart from like one yeah um and priced them all up and it it they're so expensive yeah um to buy like
41:08
the set of of I can't remember how many Miniatures is yeah I don't know around 10 might be might be as much as 10 yeah
41:15
and then you've got and then you've got that librarian you've got the dead the dead Marine on the throne yeah and
41:21
you've got a little robot that's in there it's Madness how um how much of it
41:26
is and how and then also as well all the Jean Steelers are unique yeah they're not just the running forward Jean
41:31
Steelers from the older additions of space hog they're like hanging from the ceiling and some of them are coming then
41:36
coming off the ground and you know so it's a phenomenal set but you think
41:41
you could keep that on the shelf and it just keep going yeah but you know they seem to like to just do these things in
41:48
fits and starts yeah the other thing as well which is um a game that's really uh
41:53
popular at the moment uh since it's released late February hell div was to
42:00
so I've heard of this but only sort of you know a little bit in the fact
42:05
it's sort of like it's the buzzing game around at the moment I I see bits of it on Tik Tok and I'm like okay fine
42:12
although it's not 40K because you know you can say oh well you know you can't
42:18
you can't just go anything future war is 40k yeah but you can see it seeping in
42:25
yeah you know it's like um I think hell divers 2 with regards to 40K is like
42:32
maybe one step down from 40K with Rebel Moon you know you can see that he's just
42:38
hints of it feels of it you know the fact that the baddies are called uh
42:44
termin I love that do you think games re was go was been go it's extraordinarily
42:50
close for a lawsuit but just not quite close enough yeah and they look uh
42:56
especially when you play a lot of the time you're on planets in the dark or planets which have like a a very big fog
43:02
on them so you know I think mainly designed that way because it is a it's not a a a
43:08
massively um built game you know it's not like playing one of these you know really top
43:15
level games it's it's Avail it's only it doesn't have a it doesn't have a um a
43:21
campaign you you have to play online in four and up to like groups of four so I think this oh it's in the dark oh it's
43:28
foggy it's the idea so they're not having to do mountains way off in the distance you know so it keeps it quite localized but
43:35
um but when you look at it some of the things in it you just go oh God there's just real little little hint you know
43:42
it's got that very slightly Nazi Nazi sort of thing going on you know a lot of flags with wings on and you know that
43:49
sort of and then a lot of the it comes up when you're loading up to to go to planets and drop you has lots of like
43:56
little um like little like uh the the war equivalent of those you know those
44:02
posters that have people having officers you know they they're like two two dolphins jumping over the moon and they
44:09
have like some inspirational Co but they're all military ones so and they all feel quite 40K yeah and I do think
44:16
it's I do think it's starting to feel like it's it's just as you said it just
44:22
feels like it's just seeping into the zist now it's just becoming a little more of a thing you know it wasn't it's
44:28
just come to mind it a while ago now I can't remember which of the big three it was I don't know if it was s be ASO or
44:35
tesos but it wasn't that long ago they were doing 40K t-shirts really yeah with
44:40
Space Marines on yeah oh yeah I can't remember which one of the big three it was but so it feels like cuz they
44:47
haven't gone oh we've had so many people come into the shop who are 40K players
44:54
demanding t-shirt yeah yeah they must that's somebody somewhere in an office is starting to go that thing with them
45:01
Pig chunky soldiers things seems to be taking off a little bit they were on stamps recently and my youngest likes
45:07
cleaning them on PS5 yeah yeah yeah when do you put them on a t-shirt from your
45:13
husband yeah yeah that's it and and and so that that's a very yeah that is a very interesting point cuz it's like as
45:19
as much as like me saying like I think this
45:25
would be better thinking about it from a very me Centric point of view I think like casual board games and and you know
45:32
making it accessible that way but then also yeah for for someone else like I like my mom was like oh yeah I saw that
45:39
Games Workshop were on stamps and they've been going for 40 years and this that and the other and it's like oh yeah cool like like you know people are sort
45:46
of outside of the hobby uh uh taking taking note and so yeah that maybe
45:52
that's you know the the long game is you know you're on a stamp you get cleaned up and then you can sell
45:58
your t-shirts in a supermarket because if KY like if ASA picked up Warhammer
46:05
t-shirts like or Tesco I think that pardon me they're the biggest aren't they so if they if they picked up
46:10
Warhammer t-shirts like how many they would buy yeah um is like the the volume
46:17
of of like the scale of it is so much bigger than than say just selling a few
46:23
in Warhammer World cuz even 5 years website even 5 years ago you wouldn't
46:28
have forecast um 40K t-shirts being in a supermarket no you just wouldn't no you
46:35
know and the fact that and you know and like other ones like I um like I was
46:40
having um I I know they're not Nationwide but you know the brand wios yeah which is like a household shop for
46:47
those yeah that not everyone knows them because I know they're not they're obviously unique to Britain and they're
46:53
not even unique across all of the British Isles they they're sort of regional and um and they have like a
47:00
household store well the biggest one nearest me uh is a town called Arnold
47:06
big up the Arnold massive for anyone that's listening who's from there um and there one shut down and it's reopened as
47:12
a B&M oh right okay and B&M is one of the stores of all the weird places to
47:19
have it that sells um mcfar and 40K oh right okay yeah cuz I was in there the
47:25
other day they had um a black uh Raven guard obviously
47:30
black but a raven guard um assault Marine yeah from and they you know the
47:35
amount of people I've seen on on Facebook going found this and especially that uh what was that is it dark tide
47:44
yeah there was like people going oh I found the dark tide um cultist um treat
47:50
of God in bnm yeah just next to the half half price pans yeah you know so you
47:55
know so it's weird that these places that get these licenses and then you know someone somewhere must go in an
48:02
office somewhere going how big is the visibility on these yeah to sell them
48:08
yeah that's it because every single bit of shelf space is money isn't it yeah it's all to do with money and how much they'll sell yeah definitely or like the
48:14
stock is you know crazy uh cheap or something like that but it's it's really
48:21
really interesting so it would be like right you know where we were 5 years ago where we were sounded like I'm a
48:28
football supporter where we were five years ago yeah we always try and walk in um is a
48:35
ludicrous display um like five years ago you like right where's the hobby going to be um but I think yeah the
48:42
interesting thing is like right how like trying to predict how far along the curve of popularity like
48:49
Warhammer is like where could it end up like the Amazon show is going to be massive I'm bearing in mind a lot of
48:55
this beginnings of this curve is before the Amazon show was really sort
49:02
of properly into you know when the t-shirts were in the shops which was you
49:08
know probably about 18 months ago two years ago I don't know how long ago it was now we go I don't think you ever
49:13
said yes to them went well we've heard Whispers yeah cuz if they'd heard Whispers they'd go yes we will but can
49:20
we hold off on them till such point in time as the show lands yeah that's the one just going well there's enough of
49:25
that yeah you know and I think that's it's really uh it's really interesting to
49:30
think that that's you know someone was going well this is this
49:37
is important enough that or it's big enough that it's worth spending the money having these printed onto t-shirts
49:43
maybe it's maybe it's just everywhere in Notting them maybe it is maybe yeah
49:49
maybe cuz we are at the epicenter it the miniature Universe um so every Shop
49:56
sells sells Warhammer something yeah it'll be interesting to see it will be interesting to see if the uh if the TV
50:04
show does well how how much it affects yes cuz I don't feel like
50:10
um I don't feel like I've seen a sudden upturn in things for the rings of power
50:18
I wasn't suddenly like felt like there was rings of power toys everywhere yeah no that's that's a fair point I guess
50:24
that's a tricky one because is Lord of the Rings already had its Trilogy and it was already perfect yeah um so nothing
50:32
else was going to be as good and then like the TV show although like you know
50:38
incredibly High budget and what have you wasn't insanely well received was it no um but it's already on a very
50:45
established IP yeah you've had Lord of the Rings you've had The Hobbit and and then here come Amazon
50:53
being like oh we're going to you know do this this thing and it's like does does it does that story need to be told like
50:59
everybody knows is yeah kind of roughly what happens like I guess you had the
51:07
whole like who's um who's saour on like that that kind of like question or what
51:12
have you but you know the Rings get made you know there's some deceiving involved there's there's a load of cool things to
51:18
happen along the way like if like if it's a great show um I mean KY like you
51:24
know the Dune films if people read the books they know what's going to happen yeah yeah but the films are still
51:29
amazing yeah um so there we go I proved myself wrong um I don't know what my point was maybe rings of power just
51:35
wasn't like but yeah like you're saying though you didn't feel like they was um it didn't feel like they there was like
51:42
enough confidence and I didn't suddenly cuz I Potter in in and out now now and then it wasn't like when the rings of
51:47
power was made then that suddenly though Forbidden Planet was full of rings of power action figures oh yeah yeah you
51:54
know what I mean it didn't feel like even they didn't seem to preempt it
51:59
being successful with the load of merch the merch for it didn't seem to be hugely yeah anything of any major
52:05
interest so it felt a little bit like nobody really wants to have a major punt on if no before it sort of landed anyway
52:12
you know and I think yeah it's like you know and it feels now like that
52:18
um it feels now like that thing's just sort of especially with streaming but I think 40K is immune to this things just
52:26
get made now and go out and and pass some people entirely by like the other
52:31
day I wasn't aware aware it was even a thing but there is a TV series starting in the next few days on Netflix which is
52:39
being made by the two guys who are behind Game of Thrones oh right called
52:44
the three body problem it's based on a um on a Chinese science fiction novel Series yeah TV first series is Eight
52:53
Episodes two $200 million budget oh wow which is like crazy money that's money
53:00
yeah you know what I mean and you going didn't even know it was a thing I read about it accidentally oh right yeah
53:08
I I didn't even I didn't even know that was uh that was a thing and you go $200 million and you go why isn't that on
53:14
like Billboards on the side of buses and you know what I mean and all the rest of it and it's it's an alien invasion
53:20
show okay so like where's me where's me alien from the three problem in a
53:26
blister on a c piece of cards in Forbidden Planet you know what I mean it seems to be I mean maybe for Netflix
53:31
they're just not that fust about it yeah so I'm hoping that 40K will be the one
53:40
that can straddle because it's so established already and there's a wealth of toys and a number of different sizes
53:46
already available because the merchandise is already there yes um yes it's not like they you know the only
53:52
thing there'll be could be is more merchandise yes it's not like it's going to get less merchandise I just hope that
53:58
unlike say like Warhammer plus when you know they had the the uh angels of death
54:04
and you had your your blood Angel like Squad of Marines yes it would be I would have absolutely bought a box of those
54:13
those Marines but then I guess the issue is like they were firstborn I think not
54:18
primaris and and this that and the other and you can Ki bash them and and someone
54:23
did at the time for like a battle report um that we did but it's kind of like
54:30
that that tie tying in of stuff I think would be really important like you know if you can't buy a miniature of Henry
54:36
cavell's character like come on Workshop sort your [ __ ] out like that needs to
54:41
happen absolutely um yeah it'll be interesting to see it'll be interesting
54:46
to see this is the bit I'm really looking forward to is especially obviously selfishly because we got a
54:52
YouTube channel but is just um how much of an impact it it has for all the
54:58
pre-existing things it would be really really interesting yeah you know because um you know I would imagine especially
55:06
because they they very cleverly got involved in it early on if you think about
55:11
um the early days of the Marvel movies when it wasn't Marvel it was Spider-Man being Sony which it still is and to some
55:19
degree and then um 20th Century Fox was uh X-Men yeah but then to gain New View
55:27
to gain new readers Marvel did Ultimate Marvel Universe where they scratchbuilt
55:34
the entire universe for Spider-Man and the entire universe for the X-Men and
55:39
then very quickly after that followed it with the Avengers from scratch yeah and made some of the powers and how it
55:46
happens more palatable and more realistic oh okay and like there is even
55:52
before he before the Iron Man movie came out there was a joke in um they were in
56:00
Ultimate they were called the ultimates but they were basically The Avengers which was a brilliant bit of
56:05
foreshadowing as they decided to redesign Nick Fury from being white guy
56:12
with gray and temples oh ey patch and stuff yes and shaved head and made him
56:17
look like Samuel Jackson right and there's a whole bit where the ultimates are all sitting
56:22
around and going who would play if they made a movie out of us who would play
56:28
and someone goes to goes to cap oh Brad Pit would play you and cap being not
56:33
long woke up goes who's Brad Pit you know and then someone goes who would play you to Nick Fury and Nick Fury goes
56:40
well there is only one badass Mother Lover on the planet that could play me
56:46
and that would be Mr Samuel Jackson like d mons down the line there he is at the end of Iron Man you know and I think you
56:52
know so but they designed it to what I was getting at was basically the design this to bring people who'd gone the
56:59
cinema gone do you know I love Spider-Man enough I might take up reading it or I haven't read Spider-Man for 20 years 30 years however long and
57:06
then he went here it is again from scratch but makes a bit more sense in our world okay and he's got you're not
57:11
reing it with 30 years of baggage yeah to know you're reading it from scratch
57:17
that'll be that'll be very I wonder if um they in the Amazon show if they do if
57:24
they do like a slightly altered timeline of things and then it pisses off a load of
57:30
people well this is the thing this the Gat keeping the Gat keeping is going to be crazy well this is this is the in
57:35
Henry We Trust element that we have to really rely on yeah yeah I just think that if they if they set it like sort of
57:42
like as all of the current belief is is from Eisen horn if imagine if they
57:48
starts with Like a Star Wars crawl the call will be crawl will be about 30 minutes long they yeah yeah yeah yeah
57:53
yeah yeah or they should do it the other way you know like um did you watch much of the Clone Wars yeah you know the way
58:00
it starts with like like the the the news reporter from the 1940s war and then it just goes you know I think maybe
58:07
go a bit like that I don't know I'm just telling like a you know a little brief snippet of what's going on in this
58:12
particular area yeah but um yeah I don't I don't know I think um as I've always
58:18
said I think you could almost read read Eisen
58:23
horn from scratch without knowing the 40K universe and especially if you're a very very well read science fiction
58:29
reader who whose ability to take on unusual Concepts as high yeah you could
58:35
probably go I could you know I always say I always say the only thing you really need for 40 to read Eisen horn is
58:41
um a website with photographs of all of the things that get mentioned yeah yeah I think infinite and the Divine you
58:46
could do that as well yeah um because that's that like just a standalone really great sci-fi novel yeah um and I
58:55
think so that's what makes me think Eisen horn as well especially because it's one of the ones where
59:01
you're not having to do absolutely enormous M battle you can just
59:06
go there's some Space Marines in it later on yeah or some weird aliens later on and some cultists and and one or two
59:15
I can't remember not many chaos Marines and you can just sort of tell
59:20
that story but not having to go we need shedloads of Marines not having to go
59:25
we've got to put a Titan in it we need to start designing you know rhinos I think you keep the CGI budget more and
59:32
basically getting that relatively low in places I think yeah I think don't it's a
59:39
bit Sherlock Holmes isn't it a lot of yeah yeah yeah yeah I going be really really good I don't know if like because
59:45
they put out the logo didn't they of like the Aquilla and half of it's like knacked and then the other half's like
59:51
gleaming and golden yeah um so I think it'll be more about the
59:56
Imperium as a whole and the factions inside of it all trying to figure it out
1:00:01
the brave thing would be to just do nothing we've seen yeah to just go yeah all right you're going to have to when I
1:00:07
say nothing we've seen it's going to have to be from a human point of view cuz when we're doing the fair series and
1:00:12
it's about orc people just wouldn't buy that so it's going to have to be from a human point of view um but you are you
1:00:20
know you might just go right we're just going to do it about this squad of guys in an imperial guard regiment and it's not going to ghosts or going to do this
1:00:27
or going to do that I feeling though will possibly go I think he's got the legs to to have like a massive Cinematic
1:00:34
Universe yeah um like movies and TV shows and and this that and the other
1:00:39
and I think like with the Advent of streaming you can take a punt on that kind of stuff a bit more cuz like superhero fatigue at the minute I I
1:00:45
haven't watched a Marvel film in the cinema since like The Avengers I don't
1:00:51
think so I think the last one I went to cinema to see uh uh not too long ago
1:00:56
Guardians 3 was the last I think I would see in the cinema and that was a a family outting me and the wife didn't go
1:01:03
oh we know cuz you know we used to do the thing where we would go and watch the Marvel movies as a couple and then
1:01:09
make it when the kids were a bit younger make a decision on the level of violence and then decide whether they were all right going to see it you know I
1:01:15
remember you know the kids didn't go to the cinema to see um Deadpool yeah
1:01:21
Deadpool uh did didn't go to the cinema to see uh the second Captain America oh
1:01:29
right okay which is one of my favorite Marvel I think that's my favorite Marvel film great film but um winter soier yeah
1:01:34
Winter Soldier thank you yeah they didn't go to ca see that but then they had they you know as they got older they they did go to see others but um yeah so
1:01:43
I don't know it'll be interesting to see how to go back to the original points how much of a push on license and this
1:01:50
all this all has yeah I think like the show had obvious be a massive one and
1:01:56
again like you know they'll they'll license stuff that personally I will go
1:02:01
why on Earth are they done that like Warhammer Monopoly doesn't he like the world is not a better place for that
1:02:08
existing no I don't think I'd argue slightely worst place yeah like I don't I don't think one of 40K Monopoly and
1:02:16
curtain got in common they both make the world a slightly darker
1:02:23
place and it we should probably end there you
1:02:29
never going to top that um yeah but they there'll be games there'll be toys you know like senent and candles Cy we
1:02:36
talked about them on the first ever show yes um and what a ridiculous concept yeah what a bazark but they're still
1:02:42
selling them they still make them so they they keep making new versions of keep keep adding to them don't they you
1:02:48
know nurgle's Ro it's delicious um yeah edible candles what a wonderful
1:02:55
um well yeah it is really really interesting as a concept as a company
1:03:01
you know people people obviously want to buy into it or they are licensing things
1:03:06
out how much of that is you know they might have targets to me well do you think they F you know taking the
1:03:13
nonsense of of cleaning dreadn aside yeah their their video game industry is
1:03:18
massive isn't it yeah you know and uh I mean there potentially some issues I
1:03:24
mean Space Marine got delayed a year yeah which was shame like there I I saw
1:03:29
a headline recently I think I don't know the specifics of it but
1:03:34
um the uh the parent company of the studio is
1:03:39
like selling the studio or looking to or something along those lines so I'm like oh I hope space marinees safe like I do
1:03:48
like I think feel like video games like a you know that that would improve the 40K Universe you you can you bulk gun
1:03:55
did quite well didn't it a lot of people quite like bulk gun and I think dark Tides was quite successful yeah yeah
1:04:02
there we go close closeup dog Camp oh there she is um so even though I'm I
1:04:09
don't know I'm going to talk we'll just keep the keep the camera on the dog um yeah so so it will be very very
1:04:16
interesting like how long until you get a Space Marine Launch Box I mean it probably exists already yeah and like a
1:04:23
thermos down you're probably downstairs on the floor when you first walk into war am world right next door to your 40K
1:04:30
dressing gowns yeah yeah but it you're tired it might be it might be interesting like you know if the TV show
1:04:36
comes out and it is um true to 40K and you see some Space
1:04:44
Marines do some like messed up stuff um would parents like want little Timmy
1:04:53
to be wearing a t T-shirt with a Space Marine and you just like oh I just saw like him or someone that looks like him
1:04:59
I think it was a Space Marine but it had like horns on it and stuff and like you know he like disbaled someone like I
1:05:08
wonder if they'll if we'll get to a stage where they'll be you know a 12 certificate series but also a 15 or an
1:05:15
18 well they know the interesting thing as well potentially might be where there is the crossing of the streams between
1:05:21
uh Warhammer plus and and Amazon the fact that Amazon seemed to be reasonably
1:05:27
keen and Netflix are as well um reasonably clean keen on relatively
1:05:33
grownup animation yes cuz you've got Invincible from which is from the same
1:05:39
stable as the boys really to some like blueeyed Samurai and then you've had um
1:05:45
quite violent and then one at least one of the uh g g because I think Gan signed
1:05:51
a deal with Netflix didn't he and I think um uh I think it's super Crooks I
1:05:56
think was uh went out as an animation which had been like a small run comic of his yeah so I think the you know the
1:06:03
idea of maybe like some and and as has been shown for Disney the wh ifs do really
1:06:09
well oh right okay yeah yes you know so you know you could I wouldn't be surprised if you had like you know Tales
1:06:15
from the 40K Universe a little bit in the same way that hammer and Balter yeah
1:06:21
yeah made their way over for for hammer and Balter sins I.E it's barely ever
1:06:26
released um like going be a shock horror wmer
1:06:31
plus is still terrible um like yeah hammer and Bolter I think that was was
1:06:37
like some of the animation in the in the first few episodes was a bit Yeah and then as they got had a bit more time
1:06:43
like they they really did improve um and they had some really cool stories and that was like a good insight into that
1:06:49
kind of that kind of stuff I I think that's like a good use if they did like the IP yeah if they did a different
1:06:56
animation every week from like a like you know a 10p part thing like a bit like what what if where every story is
1:07:02
different you know you you could quite happily watch an episode just about an um just about a an Imperial assassin
1:07:09
wouldn't you going about their you know on a mission and things like that you that sorts of stuff you know where no one in it is a major character yeah just
1:07:16
more you know the the background characters and give them their own they give them their own episodes and be quite cool and you know and you know you
1:07:24
could do one about a Blum and adeptus mechanicus accidentally switching on yeah AI robots that have been in the B
1:07:31
and then it being HED hunted through you know the black library or something by something he's accidentally woke up you
1:07:37
know them sorts of things would be quite cool because the great thing about them is that they're IND cool little individual stories but they're also a
1:07:43
way of going here's what the adeptus mechanicus is and here's what the Assassins are and just keeps rounding it
1:07:50
out and building more layers to it all do he so when eventually you know you you know potentially a movie or a series
1:07:57
in and someone and then you know a vinder assassin turns up with his 9 foot long rifle and you don't you go oh one
1:08:04
of them was in the cartoon you know I mean you know what they are so you know be quite you know I hope it works cuz I
1:08:10
think I mean there's insane um developments in AI uh open AI demoed
1:08:17
something like a little while ago now I think like or a few months was it Sora
1:08:22
um and it's they you much like chat GPT but for
1:08:30
video you type in make me a movie trailer for this that and the other like there was an AI Warhammer movie trailer
1:08:36
that came out recently that's got like millions of views yeah um because it just captures that aesthetic of it um
1:08:44
and there's lots of debates with like yes it's AI but the inspiration it's used is human made so it's like global
1:08:53
massive amounts of plagiarism and and all that sort of stuff but it's um like
1:08:59
you go make me a movie trailer shot on 35 mil uh in the style of Wes Anderson or or well yeah well there I've watched
1:09:06
a couple of them W Anderson anation will be um that for animation will be like
1:09:12
completely gamechanging in that you know you you you could have um you know you
1:09:20
type in characters and this that and the other and it will just be so vastly different in how quick he'd be
1:09:26
able to get all these things out um yeah it'd be interesting to see you know how
1:09:32
much they lean into that side of things but like I say the AI now is ridiculous because I've watched those two I've
1:09:38
watched the Wes Anderson um remake of Star Wars trailer which is amazing yeah and the uh the one
1:09:45
for them doing Wes Anderson doing um uh Lords of the Rings as well oh right yeah
1:09:52
and you know and the thing is is that you know because they're so heavy in the he has such a unique style they already
1:09:58
I think AI didn't struggle too much with them because you go pastel colors they people stand at a certain
1:10:04
distance away from camera which is very West Anderson thing you know every one of them in the the trailer as i' like
1:10:10
what we need is this this this and you go which is obviously the captain um Fantastic Mr Fox thing you like putting
1:10:16
a plan together and stuff so I think someone like but you know if you said to AI make me um a a trailer for a film and
1:10:25
in the style of Steven Spielberg I think it'd really struggle cuz he doesn't have a style you know every movie Spielberg
1:10:31
makes is very quite unique to the other you know so I think you know but it'd be interesting to see if they can you know
1:10:37
how much of AI will be leaned into by the time they get to putting the anime putting the effects together for 40K
1:10:44
yeah quite cool cuz that be very interesting yeah there we go um uh I'm
1:10:49
not sure how long we've been uh we've been going on at the minute um but yeah there was uh very briefly I
1:10:55
guess we can touch on new releases on Warhammer day oh yes yes yes let's do that yes there there was mechor which I
1:11:01
thought looked pretty cool Mech do you think the mechor looked a little bit like it had um borrowed that suit
1:11:07
borrowed a suit off Tom Cruz from The Edge of Tomorrow oh yes Ste his big rig
1:11:12
his legs and been gone into like the boots for it and all the rest of it I thought it was really I thought that orc
1:11:18
was really cool and I thought um the closed not shouting mouth
1:11:24
I thought was very on Games Workshop for all cuz he looked really deadly serious there was no comedy to it yes and and
1:11:31
because he was he had quite he has quite a pointy chin as well so I I think he
1:11:36
looks like a bit a bit more like an Ur yeah like from from um sigar like there
1:11:44
there's a version of it where you can put the metal jaar on yes and that like that looks more 40K yeah very much so
1:11:51
like definitely um but the yeah the the the other one just looks quietly
1:11:56
Sinister doesn't he yeah yeah which is not very a he looks pretty cool with all the bolts and stuff coming out his mouth
1:12:02
but um yeah I thought that was that was quite an interesting um it's I think it's a lovely miniature it's very busy
1:12:08
there's loads going on but in that way that orc should go you know if I can fit a gun on here I can fit five on so let's
1:12:14
just go with that you know and I like that that that childlike Simplicity of going if I can carry this and I'm strong
1:12:20
enough to carry that like carry the one that's 9 foot long inad of so I like that I like the I think it's a really
1:12:27
nice miniature but then our short King oh what's going on
1:12:34
there um so this sh I'm hoping it's a matter of perspective yeah so we have a
1:12:40
standalone Shi Captain miniature and this was um shown in silhouette at the start
1:12:48
of the year in a in a video wasn't it and at the start of the spin like like
1:12:53
with that sort of I don't know what the proper term is like PL thing that comes up at the top um my immediate thought
1:13:01
was oh like it's a reposed like votam miniature but then as it turns around you see the guardian Spear and you're
1:13:08
like oh that's interesting but he I think hopefully it's like his shoulders
1:13:15
are super wide his legs seem pretty short maybe it's cuz he stood on a tactical rock or something along those
1:13:21
lines looks better with a helmet on I think um it just looks a bit weird just
1:13:27
a bit look he took that milit and and laid it on its side I think it'd be as I
1:13:33
think it'd still be the same height yeah yeah it's very Square yeah he seems to be as literally as wise as
1:13:40
he is tall yeah it's a very it's a very odd thing I I I wonder whether the the
1:13:45
problem I know all of the custodies look a little bit squat cuz their armor is very wide yeah cuz someone someone on
1:13:53
Instagram I think it might have been like I think it might have been Maverick's paint and he put a poll on
1:13:58
one of his stories was was it just like should custodies have primaris um like
1:14:03
proportions and so many like the vast majority of people have said yes I've never I've never really looked at the
1:14:11
custodies and gone like oh they look really squat like
1:14:17
I think the wardens like with the ropes and stuff look amazing I like I look at Tran valores OB like them otherwise You'
1:14:23
have never picked him as an army yeah and and like you know the the characters and stuff like yeah Treasure of law you
1:14:29
look at him and you're like yeah he looks like the boss like he looks really cool whereas this one I like yeah I
1:14:35
don't know just looks um just like just looks off yeah it just looks a little
1:14:41
bit a little bit off um well I've said this before and I'll probably say it again in the future about Miniatures
1:14:46
where I've gone oh I'm not sure and then you see them in the flesh and you go oh actually they're all right yes and and I
1:14:51
think I think that that that might potentially be it in that um like you
1:14:57
know when you see him on the cover of the Box um the oric Champions box he
1:15:05
looks you know a bit more in place to be fair um but I think the wardens the
1:15:11
wardens look so much better I think the shield is a bit weird that they've given him like it it just it's not really
1:15:19
doing it for me quite as much like you know it it definitely has that sort of Roman yeah um that Roman Vibe um but
1:15:29
maybe it you know it's it's leveled up that little bit more um like I
1:15:35
definitely would not buy that box to get that miniature yeah go old Games Workshop you want this guess where it is
1:15:42
yeah I'll give you a clue it's three figures away cuz I've already got all of those Miniatures uh anyway and building
1:15:49
those bikes um I think i' I've built like six of them and I never want to build another one again um and they've
1:15:56
done the same with the orc as well haven't they they've put him in a box as well yeah and but then um cuz that fit
1:16:02
like you know that's a custodi army that's that's a big custodes army probably probably 2,000 points um
1:16:09
where's the O I feel like with the Oaks like you be like oh yeah get some more boys so they they've announced an all
1:16:15
codex then on it way hav yeah so or codex and the um cod cod are on their
1:16:21
way cuz they give you a Stomp in the orc box yeah which I get the I often get the impression from from what I understand
1:16:28
of a lot of people who play Orcs it's not something they take no I wonder whether it's just like God we've got
1:16:33
loads of these in the w i stick them in a box that that could be it yeah that that absolutely could be it I I always
1:16:39
said terrible I always look at the West I do Wonder those sometimes I go yeah there's loads of these no one buys them
1:16:44
yeah stick them in and hopefully that new miniature will be enough to convince the sale yeah yeah um and then we have
1:16:52
our um um dark o Savages which which looked
1:16:57
great saying like the sigma it's just they knock it out the park um every time at the moment isn't it it did it did
1:17:03
make me giggle in the trailer um they had to put in the clips from the hammer
1:17:09
and berler episode that was on Warhammer plus because they were like look it it still exists
1:17:14
yeah um yeah so yeah I think I think they look great again like the sigma
1:17:20
Miniatures I think are always um yeah you they've been pretty much on on it
1:17:26
for a good couple of years now having the Sigmar it's always been whatever they brought out has been really really
1:17:32
cool yeah oh and we' got gnomes in blood ball as well i't I haven't looked at these yet but those look hilarious oh
1:17:38
you yeah you were talking about the goose yes there we go yeah yeah yeah yeah in in a previous episode um oh and
1:17:45
the badger and this are the badges is it the really angry looking Badger um yes
1:17:51
yeah that's great miniature that yeah that looks amazing and you got the foxes there's a fox with a with a ball in its
1:17:57
mouth like I mean these are yeah and I mean they they're like how can you look
1:18:04
at this like the most British miniature range ever are isn't it yeah and and
1:18:11
it's so funny looking at these and you're like is this the same company that makes them like space
1:18:16
soldiers um it's so it's so twe yeah in a beautiful way yes and there to be Fair
1:18:23
as well whoever's painted them done a wonderful job with them they're really nicely yeah they're they're exceptional aren't they but they painted in in a um
1:18:30
sympathetic to the Miniatures they're they're not massively over the top they're nice and soft colors that sort
1:18:36
of suit the countryside it's nice put together like yeah the bright green grass on the bases and and all that sort
1:18:42
of stuff those foxes are are amazing um I yeah I think they're they're such
1:18:49
they're such fun like that to me like I I I would expect to find a miniature like that if if I was you know some
1:18:57
one-man band Yes seller at a convention has said like oh yeah I make these
1:19:04
little gnomes and geese and badges and foxes yeah and I'd be like they're so cute I will buy some yes um but to be
1:19:11
done by to to be done to by the overlords yeah to be done by Workshop is is yeah like that's that's quite
1:19:17
surprising like that's a throwback to to like old Workshop I guess it seems I would say so I think that poor custody's
1:19:24
Captain is he's going to be meeme bound for a long time isn't he probably maybe
1:19:30
no nowhere near as much as desolation um Marines or stil boy oh God
1:19:38
yeah um but you might not be in trying to fix him soon
1:19:44
Roy yeah Pete no you know they the chap I can't remember his name sadly they know the guy who does the conversions
1:19:50
but does it through Photoshop oh yes yeah yeah yeah yeah I can't remember his name I do apologize if you're watching
1:19:55
but he he'll be in there soon giving him about two more inches of thigh yeah bit the shoulders in yeah yeah so I mean
1:20:03
that yeah that's that's I guess like Prime for Prime for KI bashing I want to see it I'd like to see it in person I
1:20:10
think on its own it the pitcher isn't doing it any favors no um which which is
1:20:19
a shame our are your friends and mine kilio wasn't uh particularly
1:20:24
impressed yeah you said of feel like I've seen one of the best Miniatures of the you know of the last year uh and one
1:20:29
of the worst of the last year all one weekend yeah yeah that's yeah it's a very good point um and as well with
1:20:35
these releases I I always think like oh it's it's this special anniversary day
1:20:41
thing and you I always assume that oh this miniature release will be massive
1:20:46
and and it always a little bit underwhelming Yeah like the Deathwing release I really liked um and I guess I
1:20:53
always go in wanting to really like it so our next one then uh will probably be I think there's miniature there's is the
1:21:00
miniature releases again for adepticon I think the releases for
1:21:05
adepticon don't do you think yeah yeah so uh we might be there for that
1:21:12
um uh see as it happens but um think you have to get tickets for it yeah yeah so
1:21:18
I don't know but uh yeah so the next one will so the next one will probably be only about a a mon way you never know
1:21:23
that might be the one death core of cre going to mention cuz it's increasingly looking more and more like death cor of cre are getting a full range now so I
1:21:31
think um I mean it's rumored I think I saw VX say that blood angels are getting their um yeah they're getting there
1:21:38
they're going to get some specific Terminators yeah they I would they might get specific Terminators they'll definitely get um they'll get the
1:21:45
sanguini and guards and and then they'll probably get an upgrade sprew and you know they'll get they'll get all of the
1:21:50
bits that are unique to them get the dark Angel's treatment CU I mean black Templer treatment yeah they
1:21:56
got the knights which is which is cool so I can expect that like yeah it be nice to see
1:22:02
if to do something for the Terminators but generally blood Angel Terminators are a bit like uh everybody else just
1:22:08
having Terminators it's really more down to the Dark Angels who have that more unique thing going on with them you know
1:22:14
sadly CU I'd like I'd like um not robed but I'd like tabard level um black
1:22:20
Templar ter but anyway one can dream so have we
1:22:25
anything else I think that's Happ this week yeah right then I'm going to go back to um cleaning the crotch on this
1:22:32
redempt red oh yeah get right in back get right in right in the grooves bye-bye everyone goodbye bye
