you go for uh i think i only went for terminator so yeah let's let's start by reviewing the minis yes so

year one vindica assassin yeah i loved you got you got the assassin a few months ago i

did yes because i'd been um an existing subscriber to the army builder yep

um so that was i think a pretty popular choice because it can go in any imperial parallel right so

um really good with that i went for the orc mainly because you got the assassins so i thought hey you know what variety

is the spice of life i think it arrived uh last week and i'm probably less enthused with it than i was a year ago

when i picked it i'm sorry to spare that one i don't like i don't like anybody getting a mini they're not that

interesting well i i mean i i i have the dominion box because they were

selling them off dirt cheap yeah um and that's the only ios stuff i have so i have one random aos orc

um okay it's not even the same orcas them is he no no they're borics so yeah you can't even not even like you

can blend them into what's in there which is a bit of a shame so there we go might find some use for it might send

him to space camp or something like that um yeah well the thing is basically that's

the big armored um aos orcs it doesn't take much to make to turn them into you know 40k oaks really to be honest so you

from last year i do like him um and the the terminator well we'll see

what happens he may well end up being painted on the show we will see he might be some sort of life for him

not into chaos yeah absolutely right i you know i play chaos but i play death guard so my terminators don't look

anything like him yeah they don't wear the uh the chaos um sigil in most of the cases they don't

wear the star so he not really looks like he can fit in and yeah you need to shitload more

tentacles and a load of maggots and something yeah sprouting off the top of his head and yeah he's a he's a

showpiece he is he's very you know don't get me wrong i think if you've got something about you if you could if you

started scour on ebay and you you're a reasonably good converter you could probably make a reasonable chaos team

out of just one yeah there's lots of other chaos terminator bits you could be using to convert into me

but uh yeah it's a lovely model and i really love how faithful it is to the original art that it was from a frontal

white uh issue of white dwarf 1802 people have said but um yeah so it's nice that he's

he's a faithful looking miniature based on a piece of art which i know that increasingly doing more yeah

yeah yeah yeah yeah now they're all design work can handle that yeah not massively of any use to me no and like i

said and it's a bit it's literally it's like if you play chaos you can have him and if you yeah and if you play an age

a chaos have a year yes um yeah i mean i remember they marketed it as the year of

chaos uh 2022 which with all the uh price rises and the bills and everything

the the mini is if you if you expect to pay 25 pounds for it for a mini like

that yeah and that's quite a large chunk of the subscription and if you don't like either of them the value of it is

is is stripped away and 100 plus is now quite significantly more expensive but i suppose if you were to get if you you

know you didn't linger and you got that terminator you could potentially get him on ebay and yeah probably because

backfired and i didn't make any friends oh no um no it just never was politics when it

comes to blood bowl it's never good that's it everyone got really busy it just didn't happen so i think this is uh

you know i've got ten of these guys and i think they're primo um models to uh practice some more

schedules and i can mess them up and i'm probably not going to use them so these are just my test menus that's cool so um

essentially instead of painting these up in my own free time i'm going to do it and talk at the same

to carry on peyton i've now moved away from all of the flashy uh the flashy characters and uh elites of my sons um

of my son's army so i've started moving more towards just the interceptor rank and file of these

guys that we've been calling knights of the forge you carry some iconography very similar to

black templars and we sometimes play them as as black templars from the codex so this is the one i'm working on but

then i just thought i'd show you some finished ones who i just brought along for moral support

i think the fact that they included mini was it was a great idea um because it certainly made everything a bit more

generally a lot of the time we've been quite down on on um warhammer plus but in a way mainly

i think it could have had a stronger start but not all starts are strong and

sometimes they improve with time and so i i feel like i'm giving them the benefit

of the doubt on year one i think that it was a big undertaking to try to do what they've done yeah and so

my sort of thinking about it is is he's pretty much the same i think um

you know having having worked there for sort of like the first six months of uh of one plus and working on that report

um like seeing how some relevant elements of it were

managed i think it could have been differently seeing the inner workings of it um but i think i want 100 plus to

succeed because that means warhammer succeeds absolutely um i want more animations like do i want longer ones uh

more frequently yes yeah um but i think in general

100 plus is is a positive thing rather than negative and maybe it hasn't been the storming success that they wanted it

to be and we wanted it to be yeah yeah and maybe that's it maybe people had higher

expectations than um and i think that was in the marketing i think there's a lot to answer for

um with gw and how they marketed it at the beginning of things i think you're right yeah

yeah so it started off i remember there was a a live stream with adam choke and i think it was eddie eccles who the usual

live stream bros and they said we're going to have all of

these animated shows and those were like the the tent pole of warhammer plus yeah

um and there was a post on facebook recently saying this is what you have to look forward to in year two and going

through the comments on facebook like it was overwhelmingly negative um and i think when you add it all up

you think you have a miniature for 25 quid they gave you a 10 pound voucher so that's 35 out of your 50 already

absolutely right um so you're paying 15 pounds

for and i know it's far from perfect but if you were already a user of the army

think perhaps some people think they were led to believe um every new new shows every wednesday yeah um

but paying 15 quid for what we have um i think if somebody said do you want to give me 15 quid and you can have all

these shows now i'd go yeah sure yeah i think it's just been quite painful

watching them come out really slowly over the course of a year well i think on some levels i think it was watching

them come out really slowly and then some things that i found myself getting really excited about the prospect of

turning out to be what turned out to be less eventful and i'd hoped and turned into very small little things you you

know um looking at that the what was it called the tower one

oh excellent the exudate which you know i was really looking forward to and then and then it arrived and then i was like

are you gone and it was is that it not even 30 minutes of animation yeah yeah yeah you know and you think you know

that they built that up to make it look like it was going to be some amazing yeah long-running thing and you know and

it was like you know it was basically the same length of as an episode of friends

you know what i mean the one where yeah the one where we thought we were getting

yeah so i think i think that the animation in parts i think was was

very good and but just infrequent i think as well yeah yeah i i think like

what hammer plus lives and dies on the on the animations yeah i think they will have had quite a stern

wake-up call to sort of the negative aspects that they've received um it's it

if i log on to warhammer plus and i think oh there's a battle report oh there's a law masters yeah um

maybe i'll watch them maybe i'll wait um i'll always watch the animations yeah

and then when they're not there you you notice it yeah yeah absolutely yeah they're definitely conspicuous by their

absence aren't they it just feels like a very shallow week if there's yeah isn't that yeah isn't there and the i

think they they released one press release

and they i think it was in march this year yeah um where there was some

delays to exodite um and

they put out a little post that said hey we're aware that people want more animations and they want to know when

the animations are coming so here's what's coming out in march and april and it was like three

episodes um and i was like hey cool like at least we know that's that's good but they've

stopped doing that again so you're kind of like you wait for the little um what's on warhammer plus this weekend

and um it would be nice to know further in advance i think i think people expect

something either like netflix either like being dropped all at once yeah or

um released every week yeah i think see i think what made me sort of decide

to give them the benefit the doubt was i think to myself well you know if you if you're honest and you backtrack

far enough back i don't know that they are in some ways very similar animals in other ways completely different animals

netflix heritage yes and and it's kind of not great now

you know it's potentially because everybody has a streaming service now yeah um even warhammer has one

get big words out um like netflix are kind of having to rely more on themselves like they put a big

push into making their own content yeah but anyway we're getting off track animations not enough of them

infrequent more communication would be ideal yeah which i i found especially with uh interrogator

because the episodes are quite short and they you know there's a mid-season break so you get an episode every two weeks

and then there's like a month off i've i watched the most recent one and i was like what what happened in the previous ones

i've forgotten i've do you know what i really struggled to stay interested as an ontario yeah

yeah yeah i think it started really strong started so strong you know what though as well i know it

sounds terrible and you know i like her conflicted and i like her conflicted and

and battered good guy and all of a sudden yeah but you know what i it just starts to get all a bit well with me and

yeah there was that lady and she's alive and you're a drug addict and

struggled to like him yeah he was one of the major issues yeah absolutely yeah absolutely right yeah i it started off

that first episode um i was probably my favorite individual

um episode of animation on warhammer oh really i think i i really really enjoyed

it i was like hey you know everybody everybody likes like a a broken anti-hero yeah uh who can come good

but then he's just just kept drinking oh i know um and and

doing his drugs and and it became less engaging as the season went on i think yeah yeah i think

well i mean what was your least favorite series and what was your favorite series

they said and the thrilling finale of on week three and you were like no

i know it's ridiculous isn't it can you have a thrilling finale of something that's been on in like three ten minutes

like i couldn't relate to um the lead

no in that one because for the most part it was a ball it was the ball um and and

you know balls can be a motive our two's easier everyone loves yeah um but i think like the voice was very

monotone yeah um they didn't really show a lot of faces which i imagine was due

to budget and time yeah i think so all that kind of stuff they only ever really animate them and the face the the

animation you know i don't want to like rag on the artist that much because

like you know they were was like fan fan animators and and they would have said hey do this really important thing

in this time um and like when it's like oh no and it's just like

it's like going back to ps playing ps2 games um it's just like here's this really emotional thing

it's like a fish opening its mouth um yeah i like to anyway my one of my favorites was uh

was because it was a female character what was it yeah a female character talking to a boss but

to a boss but you'd never see their boss like the shoulders up yeah yeah and and you could tell the way they shot it was

like oh here's this like secret mystical leader of the towel and it's like we all know you can't afford

so yeah i think um because i was hoping for so much more yeah

and i loved how tech and you know and how you know how different they look to the imperium and the orbs and yeah and

everything yeah uh i was quite looking forward to that and uh it was just a bit

episodes um when i got back this afternoon and things like the start of episode three

there's some g steelers just like and the chaplin like smashes through a

wall and he's like burn the heretic kill the mutant then his voice goes all

raspy and you know what i'm not just were they

great but gene steeler called were a really great bad guy for that way that

and in their own way being um you know in their own way being utterly fanatical like the marines or from a

different view because i know i just thought they were a great bad guy yeah yeah and it worked so well together i

think like as as far as i'm concerned like as as as a

relatively new fan of of of everything that had all like some really cool moments like i

know um exodus for example had warlord titans in it yeah and that was really cool but

then these towel guys in like the jet packs were just but they were like good look

and then it the animation kind of let it down and they just look like a few flies

um just kind of and then a titan just like swats them out the way yeah well you know you've

working yeah i think i think that really did a service to like the really cool

moments so you had shipshape combat you have drop pods you have like a cool ambush he gets shot

was uh waking the dreadnaught up yes i was yeah seeing seeing the dreadnought um

in fight in uh in ango was awesome seeing the tech marine yeah

in his arms just like picking people up and all that kind of stuff um i think what it did which i think i i liked

the thing i liked about it was i found i didn't

when i was watching it i didn't go oh if it went back the spaceship i found the spaceship

and the tension of what they were going through yeah because season two is based on

like the ship and and i found the tension of what they were going through on on the ship yeah you know on the the

the imperial navy guys trying to do their best to repel it and yeah one thing another i found that tense enough

that i didn't go oh give me more marines i was happy for it to flip back and forth i think it worked and like when it

came out like we had it was i mean they were quite short episodes

they were quite sure yeah they came out every week they had a mid-season break yeah and

then and there was what ten episodes yeah i think it was time yeah around ten yeah um which is the most complete

series that they've done yeah um and and it had its its issues i think like the the look

of it covered up a lot of sort of um elements of bad graphics and stuff like

the black and white would cover up some sins but you know what though i or you're absolutely right but you know if you've had enough money that it would

have been color yeah but at the same time but at the same point in time i thought it was effective yes yes it does

yeah that's it like it draws your attention to what they want you to look at and that's where they've put the time

yeah so i think like you know that they had a budget they had a style and they went right let's make it work together

and have something really creative um and i like the some of the sound design everyone uh said that the heavy bolter

sounds like a potato gun um because like the guys with the bolt is like and then the guy with the heavy bolt is

just like um but he absolutely had some really cool

moments yeah um and i think people sort of ripped on it a little bit at the time

and but then it's like oh if only we knew yeah that that that that would be

you know yeah yeah absolutely that would be the best of what you would get yeah and i wholeheartedly agree with that and

and it for me the animations apart from the first episode of

interrogator uh haven't got better no um and and i think the family also were very yeah hammer and bolts i feel like

they're improving yeah the um the aj sigma ones the recent ones like

the the most recent one that came out i thought was really good nicely animated it worked really well

whereas the initial ones were like i remember i want a comment on youtube that's just drilled into my head

it's like where are you going oh hammer and bolter the world's best powerpoint presentation it's so good

so good um they they are improving i like that they can tell different stories and and all

that kind of thing but yeah sometimes the quality has been a bit hit and miss i remember the um

was it cadia cadia stands where they're all yeah in the trenches fighting the knits and um they're like

there's a camera pushing down a trench and it's a 2d image and they're just zooming into it yeah but to try and give

you the illusion that they're walking past someone they they've put like people

on there and they've tried to scale them but yeah it doesn't work quite much down it just pulls you straight out um

so for the most part like so like where he followed those chaos terminators into like um

is it tracing the infinite oh yeah into his thing and that was really cool and um

they are i think if you if you if you treat them

as a moving comic book and not as an animation mm-hmm i think you know it you if you go into

it like story first yeah you go into a story fest and and you know as opposed to going why doesn't

this look like angel's death i think if you take them for what they are and like you say center on the story they're not

bad no they're not bad at all so yeah they were okay um

but yeah but angels are death healthy for me for for for animation if i'm being

if i'm being honest i've got to be honest i didn't devour much of the law

no i've watched maybe two two or three

lore episodes yeah in full um i tried watching the bowtown one

and uh got maybe five minutes into it how long is this half an hour and i'll watch

and i know that it sounds ridiculous because warhammer plus is telling you the law

but at the moment i just find some of the guys knocking around on youtube at the moment for me are just

telling it a bit better yeah yeah you know i i don't and i don't know i can't put my finger on what they're doing

better at it i think it's because so i think like that established personality yes yeah i think i'm telling you bits as

opposed to i think an issue with that gw you have is you know this is my head cannon yeah you

pretty much however long the episode is they might do a couple of takes so if you have a 20 minute episode

people chatting about stuff um but that got shot down

um but essentially kind of came back in the guise of deep strike but we'll talk about that yeah um so yeah save the best to last i

would say yeah yeah yeah law masters i just don't i don't connect with it so i keep telling you about a youtube it's a

youtube show podcast called the depth just ridiculous yes and they it's it's

uh it's two guys one of them doesn't know a great deal about warhammer which is amazing that he still doesn't

now yeah how long that's gonna go kinda like myself and then he is told

ridiculous things about warhammer law by someone that knows a hell of a lot and they're american they're over the

top but like you like they come across as good mates and they're having a laugh and they're

enjoying it and that makes me enjoy it and i listen to it um in in the car on the way to work yeah

um and i love it i think it's brilliant and they they can i know

you know i learned about the horus heresy from those guys i listened to an eye warrior's podcast and

i was like yeah maybe i'll paint my chaos guys i am worried yes um it talks about gilman and space

depression and um all that kind of thing and and it's it's

just great and there and you can see how successful they are and

how and how well that works and then you go to law masters and you're like yes it's official

but guys guys on youtube are talking to camera and then put pictures up on the screen

and that's exactly what gw doing but just less enthusiastically yeah so i have no interest in watching lawmakers

it almost feels like doesn't it that the guy whip which it is the guy doing it on on lawmaster is

is going to work and doing a job whereas some of the people who are doing
