hello i'm patrick and i'm jeff and if you're too connected to glee blenders we make one good squat
0:09
[Music] right then it's been a while it has been
0:14
a while i can't remember your name yeah it's all right i've been on all of you i can't remember that
0:21
may have been too much croatian beer may well have been drunk hey you just got to enjoy yourself when you
0:27
can well absolutely right and you have been working like a mofo haven't you something like that because there's a
0:33
lot of weddings everyone gets married in august sort of it bends out but it burns out
0:38
with a with a bright star doesn't it and they go supernova
0:46
yeah i think i've had as many nights and travel lodges last month as i slept in my own bed if
0:53
you've had any more nights and travel lodges you'd be talking like alan partridge
0:58
oh yeah so yes not conducive to uh getting videos out there no unfortunately not but we're on the other
1:05
side of it now pretty much aren't we yeah i think we are so more regular scheduled content absolutely right i'm
1:11
talking about that all of you that have been remaining watching us while we've been a bit of a pair of sketchy
1:19
especially i could think of putting it bad sorry thank you for um still subscribing and
1:24
tuning in and keeping the videos going it's been very kind of it's nice that people have got a bit of faith in us
1:29
potentially or they like the uh terribly painted space marine it could be that
1:35
it definitely could be that so we're over the 6 000 subs mark we are 6000
1:40
thank you so much to all of you that have helped get us there it's been fantastic so
1:45
we're gonna have a bit of a special show tonight aren't we i think i think it's uh yeah it's an auspicious day
1:52
yeah instead of our normal review show we're going to just review one thing which is
1:58
the previous 12 months of what's been warhammer plus that's it we're one year in
2:03
our subscriptions have auto renewed and we collectively went oh yeah
2:09
so you're getting it next year and you're like i do have a bald gun sized round hole in
2:15
my wallet and a figure on the way that i'm not that hugely interested in which one did
2:22
you go for uh i think i only went for terminator so yeah let's let's start by reviewing the minis yes so
2:29
year one vindica assassin yeah i loved you got you got the assassin a few months ago i
2:35
did yes because i'd been um an existing subscriber to the army builder yep
2:42
um so that was i think a pretty popular choice because it can go in any imperial parallel right so
2:49
um really good with that i went for the orc mainly because you got the assassins so i thought hey you know what variety
2:55
is the spice of life i think it arrived uh last week and i'm probably less enthused with it than i was a year ago
3:02
when i picked it i'm sorry to spare that one i don't like i don't like anybody getting a mini they're not that
3:07
interesting well i i mean i i i have the dominion box because they were
3:12
selling them off dirt cheap yeah um and that's the only ios stuff i have so i have one random aos orc
3:20
um okay it's not even the same orcas them is he no no they're borics so yeah you can't even not even like you
3:26
can blend them into what's in there which is a bit of a shame so there we go might find some use for it might send
3:31
him to space camp or something like that um yeah well the thing is basically that's
3:37
the big armored um aos orcs it doesn't take much to make to turn them into you know 40k oaks really to be honest so you
3:45
never know you might find a space from somewhere along the line yeah so i was quite pleased with my mini
3:51
from last year i do like him um and the the terminator well we'll see
3:57
what happens he may well end up being painted on the show we will see he might be some sort of life for him
4:04
yeah yeah i think i think this year's minis somewhat less appealing yeah if you're
4:09
not into chaos yeah absolutely right i you know i play chaos but i play death guard so my terminators don't look
4:15
anything like him yeah they don't wear the uh the chaos um sigil in most of the cases they don't
4:21
wear the star so he not really looks like he can fit in and yeah you need to shitload more
4:27
tentacles and a load of maggots and something yeah sprouting off the top of his head and yeah he's a he's a
4:33
showpiece he is he's very you know don't get me wrong i think if you've got something about you if you could if you
4:39
started scour on ebay and you you're a reasonably good converter you could probably make a reasonable chaos team
4:44
out of just one yeah there's lots of other chaos terminator bits you could be using to convert into me
4:50
but uh yeah it's a lovely model and i really love how faithful it is to the original art that it was from a frontal
4:56
white uh issue of white dwarf 1802 people have said but um yeah so it's nice that he's
5:04
he's a faithful looking miniature based on a piece of art which i know that increasingly doing more yeah
5:09
yeah yeah yeah yeah now they're all design work can handle that yeah not massively of any use to me no and like i
5:15
said and it's a bit it's literally it's like if you play chaos you can have him and if you yeah and if you play an age
5:22
of sigma you'd be playing chaos it's like yeah there's no yeah yeah yeah it's
5:28
a chaos have a year yes um yeah i mean i remember they marketed it as the year of
5:33
chaos uh 2022 which with all the uh price rises and the bills and everything
5:40
yeah yeah massively fit and naturally but yeah i mean if you're if you're a die-hard space marine fan and
5:47
the the mini is if you if you expect to pay 25 pounds for it for a mini like
5:52
that yeah and that's quite a large chunk of the subscription and if you don't like either of them the value of it is
5:59
is is stripped away and 100 plus is now quite significantly more expensive but i suppose if you were to get if you you
6:06
know you didn't linger and you got that terminator you could potentially get him on ebay and yeah probably because
6:13
yeah probably could probably cover two-thirds of the price of warhammer plus i would say yeah probably yeah yeah yeah but you need to you need to get
6:19
your skates on for all the other people salomon that didn't wonder yeah the chaos terminator either yeah yeah but i
6:25
think he will be the one of the the well i say two the other the other one the uh the chaos sorcerer
6:32
it's about five minis in total yeah i mean i i was tempted to get that purely because there was a cauldron with
6:38
teeth yeah which was very cool um which which looked really cool that that kind of had like crab vibes yeah um
6:44
i i think surely later in the year we're gonna have to like review our favorite miniatures oh absolutely right anyway
6:51
we're getting off track already getting off track so as always with this show even though this is a special show yeah
6:57
pat what you're painting so i'm not painting my blood angel i uh calm's out focus he's not finished
7:05
there would be a big reveal at the end of the show um i for my next sort of pile of shame
7:11
video um i'm gonna try a bunch of different ways of painting orc skin um and i bought this bloodball team
7:19
one of the first miniatures that i ever bought because there was gonna be a um there was supposed to be a bloodball
7:25
tournament in the office yeah uh so i bought a team to join in try and make friends but then uh you know that
7:32
backfired and i didn't make any friends oh no um no it just never was politics when it
7:37
comes to blood bowl it's never good that's it everyone got really busy it just didn't happen so i think this is uh
7:43
you know i've got ten of these guys and i think they're primo um models to uh practice some more
7:50
schedules and i can mess them up and i'm probably not going to use them so these are just my test menus that's cool so um
7:57
essentially instead of painting these up in my own free time i'm going to do it and talk at the same
8:03
time and then hopefully my next pile of shame video won't be so far away excellent what are you uptight i'm going
8:10
to carry on peyton i've now moved away from all of the flashy uh the flashy characters and uh elites of my sons um
8:18
of my son's army so i've started moving more towards just the interceptor rank and file of these
8:24
guys that we've been calling knights of the forge you carry some iconography very similar to
8:30
black templars and we sometimes play them as as black templars from the codex so this is the one i'm working on but
8:36
then i just thought i'd show you some finished ones who i just brought along for moral support
8:41
there's a finished sergeant for for the army looking good yep thank you very
8:46
much and one of the other ranking files to go with it as well which is
8:53
this guy here yeah so i'm just painting them up to look like this one be beating this guy up to look like this one so i'm going to
8:59
try and crack onto his bowl for a little bit tonight and see if we get anything else done
9:05
so fantastic so that's that we've talked about the minis from last year perhaps more persuasive to buy 100 plus
9:13
i think the fact that they included mini was it was a great idea um because it certainly made everything a bit more
9:18
palatable absolutely um so one year in yes or no
9:25
was warhammer plus worth it i'm gonna say
9:34
yes but just likewise yeah which is quite funny because if you've
9:39
obviously been keeping up with this show and this is the this is probably our fifth maybe our fifth review show yeah
9:45
generally a lot of the time we've been quite down on on um warhammer plus but in a way mainly
9:51
because we wanted the best for it really yeah but i think uh
9:56
i think it could have had a stronger start but not all starts are strong and
10:01
sometimes they improve with time and so i i feel like i'm giving them the benefit
10:07
of the doubt on year one i think that it was a big undertaking to try to do what they've done yeah and so
10:13
yes i'm gonna say yes but just yeah i think i think yeah
10:18
my sort of thinking about it is is he's pretty much the same i think um
10:24
you know having having worked there for sort of like the first six months of uh of one plus and working on that report
10:30
um like seeing how some relevant elements of it were
10:36
managed i think it could have been differently seeing the inner workings of it um but i think i want 100 plus to
10:41
succeed because that means warhammer succeeds absolutely um i want more animations like do i want longer ones uh
10:48
more frequently yes yeah um but i think in general
10:53
100 plus is is a positive thing rather than negative and maybe it hasn't been the storming success that they wanted it
11:00
to be and we wanted it to be yeah yeah and maybe that's it maybe people had higher
11:05
expectations than um and i think that was in the marketing i think there's a lot to answer for
11:11
um with gw and how they marketed it at the beginning of things i think you're right yeah
11:18
yeah so it started off i remember there was a a live stream with adam choke and i think it was eddie eccles who the usual
11:24
live stream bros and they said we're going to have all of
11:30
these animated shows and those were like the the tent pole of warhammer plus yeah
11:35
um and there was a post on facebook recently saying this is what you have to look forward to in year two and going
11:41
through the comments on facebook like it was overwhelmingly negative um and i think when you add it all up
11:49
you think you have a miniature for 25 quid they gave you a 10 pound voucher so that's 35 out of your 50 already
11:55
absolutely right um so you're paying 15 pounds
12:00
for and i know it's far from perfect but if you were already a user of the army
12:06
builder yep that was thrown back in yes so your however much that was a month two three pounds whatever yeah
12:12
yeah that's been negated into you yes there as well so the value i'm in around
12:18
about sort away is decent if you're pragmatic about it the value actually wasn't bad no yeah i
12:24
i fully agree so is we you know we haven't had loads of shows um like i
12:30
think perhaps some people think they were led to believe um every new new shows every wednesday yeah um
12:38
but paying 15 quid for what we have um i think if somebody said do you want to give me 15 quid and you can have all
12:44
these shows now i'd go yeah sure yeah i think it's just been quite painful
12:50
watching them come out really slowly over the course of a year well i think on some levels i think it was watching
12:55
them come out really slowly and then some things that i found myself getting really excited about the prospect of
13:02
turning out to be what turned out to be less eventful and i'd hoped and turned into very small little things you you
13:09
know um looking at that the what was it called the tower one
13:15
oh excellent the exudate which you know i was really looking forward to and then and then it arrived and then i was like
13:21
are you gone and it was is that it not even 30 minutes of animation yeah yeah yeah you know and you think you know
13:27
that they built that up to make it look like it was going to be some amazing yeah long-running thing and you know and
13:33
it was like you know it was basically the same length of as an episode of friends
13:38
you know what i mean the one where yeah the one where we thought we were getting
13:44
more than we did [Laughter] you know so it was
13:50
yeah so i think i think that the animation in parts i think was was
13:56
very good and but just infrequent i think as well yeah yeah i i think like
14:03
what hammer plus lives and dies on the on the animations yeah i think they will have had quite a stern
14:09
wake-up call to sort of the negative aspects that they've received um it's it
14:18
if i log on to warhammer plus and i think oh there's a battle report oh there's a law masters yeah um
14:25
maybe i'll watch them maybe i'll wait um i'll always watch the animations yeah
14:30
and then when they're not there you you notice it yeah yeah absolutely yeah they're definitely conspicuous by their
14:36
absence aren't they it just feels like a very shallow week if there's yeah isn't that yeah isn't there and the i
14:43
think they they released one press release
14:49
and they i think it was in march this year yeah um where there was some
14:56
delays to exodite um and
15:02
they put out a little post that said hey we're aware that people want more animations and they want to know when
15:07
the animations are coming so here's what's coming out in march and april and it was like three
15:13
episodes um and i was like hey cool like at least we know that's that's good but they've
15:18
stopped doing that again so you're kind of like you wait for the little um what's on warhammer plus this weekend
15:24
and um it would be nice to know further in advance i think i think people expect
15:31
something either like netflix either like being dropped all at once yeah or
15:36
um released every week yeah i think see i think what made me sort of decide
15:42
to give them the benefit the doubt was i think to myself well you know if you if you're honest and you backtrack
15:49
far enough back i don't know that they are in some ways very similar animals in other ways completely different animals
15:55
netflix heritage yes and and it's kind of not great now
16:00
you know it's potentially because everybody has a streaming service now yeah um even warhammer has one
16:08
so it's um
16:15
get big words out um like netflix are kind of having to rely more on themselves like they put a big
16:22
push into making their own content yeah but anyway we're getting off track animations not enough of them
16:27
infrequent more communication would be ideal yeah which i i found especially with uh interrogator
16:34
because the episodes are quite short and they you know there's a mid-season break so you get an episode every two weeks
16:40
and then there's like a month off i've i watched the most recent one and i was like what what happened in the previous ones
16:47
i've forgotten i've do you know what i really struggled to stay interested as an ontario yeah
16:52
yeah yeah i think it started really strong started so strong you know what though as well i know it
16:58
sounds terrible and you know i like her conflicted and i like her conflicted and
17:03
and battered good guy and all of a sudden yeah but you know what i it just starts to get all a bit well with me and
17:09
i was getting a bit bored yes yeah you're just constantly complaining yeah just like
17:14
yeah there was that lady and she's alive and you're a drug addict and
17:20
yeah you're a bad person then that massive guy is trying to help you out but you're a deviant yeah um yeah i just
17:26
struggled to like him yeah he was one of the major issues yeah absolutely yeah absolutely right yeah i it started off
17:32
that first episode um i was probably my favorite individual
17:38
um episode of animation on warhammer oh really i think i i really really enjoyed
17:43
it i was like hey you know everybody everybody likes like a a broken anti-hero yeah uh who can come good
17:51
but then he's just just kept drinking oh i know um and and
17:56
doing his drugs and and it became less engaging as the season went on i think yeah yeah i think
18:02
yeah i think that's a very good um and one thing i think
18:08
well i mean what was your least favorite series and what was your favorite series
18:15
um my least favorite series of animation
18:22
was the ecstatic yep and not so much because
18:28
i thought what we got was bad there just wasn't enough of it yeah and
18:34
it was hyped up it was yeah and i think if the the hype hadn't been as mental for it is what it was i think
18:41
um i wouldn't be quite so distressed by it i think finding out um that it was three episodes long when
18:47
they said and the thrilling finale of on week three and you were like no
18:54
i know it's ridiculous isn't it can you have a thrilling finale of something that's been on in like three ten minutes
18:59
yeah yeah yeah yeah um and i i struggled to connect with
19:05
like i couldn't relate to um the lead
19:11
no in that one because for the most part it was a ball it was the ball um and and
19:17
you know balls can be a motive our two's easier everyone loves yeah um but i think like the voice was very
19:26
monotone yeah um they didn't really show a lot of faces which i imagine was due
19:32
to budget and time yeah i think so all that kind of stuff they only ever really animate them and the face the the
19:37
animation you know i don't want to like rag on the artist that much because
19:43
like you know they were was like fan fan animators and and they would have said hey do this really important thing
19:50
in this time um and like when it's like oh no and it's just like
19:59
it's like going back to ps playing ps2 games um it's just like here's this really emotional thing
20:07
it's like a fish opening its mouth um yeah i like to anyway my one of my favorites was uh
20:13
was because it was a female character what was it yeah a female character talking to a boss but
20:19
to a boss but you'd never see their boss like the shoulders up yeah yeah and and you could tell the way they shot it was
20:25
like oh here's this like secret mystical leader of the towel and it's like we all know you can't afford
20:30
to give them a face
20:38
so yeah i think um because i was hoping for so much more yeah
20:43
and i loved how tech and you know and how you know how different they look to the imperium and the orbs and yeah and
20:49
everything yeah uh i was quite looking forward to that and uh it was just a bit
20:54
yeah yeah bit of a let down a little bit down i fully agree with that i was going to say my least my least favorite
21:00
animation was was the extra yeah my best for me
21:06
was angel's death yeah mine too yeah yeah yeah angels of death for me because
21:13
no matter what we dress up no matter how cool or clever or smart i try to be just
21:18
space marines rocking is yeah is what yeah it's about yeah i i think like these means punching holes and walls and
21:25
putting bolters through it yeah just like when um i i re-watched a few
21:30
episodes um when i got back this afternoon and things like the start of episode three
21:36
there's some g steelers just like and the chaplin like smashes through a
21:42
wall and he's like burn the heretic kill the mutant then his voice goes all
21:47
raspy and you know what i'm not just were they
21:52
great but gene steeler called were a really great bad guy for that way that
21:58
and in their own way being um you know in their own way being utterly fanatical like the marines or from a
22:05
different view because i know i just thought they were a great bad guy yeah yeah and it worked so well together i
22:10
think like as as far as i'm concerned like as as as a
22:16
relatively new fan of of of everything that had all like some really cool moments like i
22:23
know um exodus for example had warlord titans in it yeah and that was really cool but
22:28
then these towel guys in like the jet packs were just but they were like good look
22:34
and then it the animation kind of let it down and they just look like a few flies
22:40
um just kind of and then a titan just like swats them out the way yeah well you know you've
22:46
got to be sad with um [Music] the the
22:52
the scale or in um the scale in in angel of death just
22:57
working yeah i think i think that really did a service to like the really cool
23:03
moments so you had shipshape combat you have drop pods you have like a cool ambush he gets shot
23:10
by a tank and then just like shakes it off yeah um you have the chaplin doing
23:16
awesome chaplin things um my favorite bit was the um
23:21
was uh waking the dreadnaught up yes i was yeah seeing seeing the dreadnought um
23:28
in fight in uh in ango was awesome seeing the tech marine yeah
23:33
that was probably called character
23:40
in his arms just like picking people up and all that kind of stuff um i think what it did which i think i i liked
23:47
do you see me fisting as well right yeah i think you do too like you see like the kind of vampire guy yeah yeah yeah the
23:53
the thing i liked about it was i found i didn't
23:59
when i was watching it i didn't go oh if it went back the spaceship i found the spaceship
24:04
and the tension of what they were going through yeah because season two is based on
24:09
like the ship and and i found the tension of what they were going through on on the ship yeah you know on the the
24:16
the imperial navy guys trying to do their best to repel it and yeah one thing another i found that tense enough
24:23
that i didn't go oh give me more marines i was happy for it to flip back and forth i think it worked and like when it
24:29
came out like we had it was i mean they were quite short episodes
24:34
they were quite sure yeah they came out every week they had a mid-season break yeah and
24:40
then and there was what ten episodes yeah i think it was time yeah around ten yeah um which is the most complete
24:46
series that they've done yeah um and and it had its its issues i think like the the look
24:53
of it covered up a lot of sort of um elements of bad graphics and stuff like
25:01
the black and white would cover up some sins but you know what though i or you're absolutely right but you know if you've had enough money that it would
25:07
have been color yeah but at the same time but at the same point in time i thought it was effective yes yes it does
25:13
yeah that's it like it draws your attention to what they want you to look at and that's where they've put the time
25:19
yeah so i think like you know that they had a budget they had a style and they went right let's make it work together
25:27
and have something really creative um and i like the some of the sound design everyone uh said that the heavy bolter
25:33
sounds like a potato gun um because like the guys with the bolt is like and then the guy with the heavy bolt is
25:39
just like um but he absolutely had some really cool
25:44
moments yeah um and i think people sort of ripped on it a little bit at the time
25:51
and but then it's like oh if only we knew yeah that that that that would be
25:57
you know yeah yeah absolutely that would be the best of what you would get yeah and i wholeheartedly agree with that and
26:02
and it for me the animations apart from the first episode of
26:08
interrogator uh haven't got better no um and and i think the family also were very yeah hammer and bolts i feel like
26:16
they're improving yeah the um the aj sigma ones the recent ones like
26:21
the the most recent one that came out i thought was really good nicely animated it worked really well
26:27
whereas the initial ones were like i remember i want a comment on youtube that's just drilled into my head
26:33
it's like where are you going oh hammer and bolter the world's best powerpoint presentation it's so good
26:39
so good um they they are improving i like that they can tell different stories and and all
26:46
that kind of thing but yeah sometimes the quality has been a bit hit and miss i remember the um
26:52
was it cadia cadia stands where they're all yeah in the trenches fighting the knits and um they're like
26:59
there's a camera pushing down a trench and it's a 2d image and they're just zooming into it yeah but to try and give
27:04
you the illusion that they're walking past someone they they've put like people
27:10
on there and they've tried to scale them but yeah it doesn't work quite much down it just pulls you straight out um
27:17
so for the most part like so like where he followed those chaos terminators into like um
27:23
is it tracing the infinite oh yeah into his thing and that was really cool and um
27:29
they are i think if you if you if you treat them
27:34
as a moving comic book and not as an animation mm-hmm i think you know it you if you go into
27:40
it like story first yeah you go into a story fest and and you know as opposed to going why doesn't
27:45
this look like angel's death i think if you take them for what they are and like you say center on the story they're not
27:51
bad no they're not bad at all so yeah they were okay um
27:57
but yeah but angels are death healthy for me for for for animation if i'm being
28:02
if i'm being honest i've got to be honest i didn't devour much of the law
28:09
no i've watched maybe two two or three
28:14
lore episodes yeah in full um i tried watching the bowtown one
28:21
and uh got maybe five minutes into it how long is this half an hour and i'll watch
28:26
something else see i i don't mind law
28:31
and i know that it sounds ridiculous because warhammer plus is telling you the law
28:37
but at the moment i just find some of the guys knocking around on youtube at the moment for me are just
28:43
telling it a bit better yeah yeah you know i i don't and i don't know i can't put my finger on what they're doing
28:51
better at it i think it's because so i think like that established personality yes yeah i think i'm telling you bits as
28:57
opposed to i think an issue with that gw you have is you know this is my head cannon yeah you
29:05
know i think duncan left yeah they're all very hurt
29:11
and um he he was a personality yeah um
29:19
and he took that personality and he left so i think the reaction to
29:24
that is okay let's have loads of presenters which they do yeah um and
29:31
it's less personable um so like everything that they put out
29:38
is quite dry i i find so law i know how they film it it's in front of
29:44
a green screen reading a teleprompter yeah and they'll just rattle off an episode yeah in
29:50
pretty much however long the episode is they might do a couple of takes so if you have a 20 minute episode
29:55
it might have taken them an hour year and a half a morning you know yeah um a bit of set up time taking it down time
30:03
um it was initially lawmaster was supposed to be uh
30:08
people chatting about stuff um but that got shot down
30:14
um but essentially kind of came back in the guise of deep strike but we'll talk about that yeah um so yeah save the best to last i
30:21
would say yeah yeah yeah law masters i just don't i don't connect with it so i keep telling you about a youtube it's a
30:28
youtube show podcast called the depth just ridiculous yes and they it's it's
30:34
uh it's two guys one of them doesn't know a great deal about warhammer which is amazing that he still doesn't
30:40
now yeah how long that's gonna go kinda like myself and then he is told
30:46
ridiculous things about warhammer law by someone that knows a hell of a lot and they're american they're over the
30:52
top but like you like they come across as good mates and they're having a laugh and they're
30:58
enjoying it and that makes me enjoy it and i listen to it um in in the car on the way to work yeah
31:06
um and i love it i think it's brilliant and they they can i know
31:12
you know i learned about the horus heresy from those guys i listened to an eye warrior's podcast and
31:17
i was like yeah maybe i'll paint my chaos guys i am worried yes um it talks about gilman and space
31:24
depression and um all that kind of thing and and it's it's
31:30
just great and there and you can see how successful they are and
31:35
how and how well that works and then you go to law masters and you're like yes it's official
31:41
but guys guys on youtube are talking to camera and then put pictures up on the screen
31:46
and that's exactly what gw doing but just less enthusiastically yeah so i have no interest in watching lawmakers
31:53
it almost feels like doesn't it that the guy whip which it is the guy doing it on on lawmaster is
32:02
is going to work and doing a job whereas some of the people who are doing
32:07
it on youtube it's that they literally love this yeah you know they're living it yeah and and you know and i think it
32:13
does show so yeah a lawmaster didn't get lawmaster doesn't got much out of me
32:18
unfortunately i've not got much out of it really um which is a bit of a shame but it
32:24
you know you can't you can't digest every bit of what you watch really can you no no and
32:30
and it like i think something that perhaps we uh
32:36
forget a little bit sometimes and and definitely other people you don't have to like everything no no um so again
32:42
like it's effectively a magazine show you don't yeah yeah yeah yeah you know every article so if you watch law
32:49
masters and you really like it good good that means that your warhammer plus
32:55
subscription is more valuable than mine yeah because there's there's a show that i don't watch yeah um
33:01
yeah so that that for me is law masters yeah i'm not not a human fan i'd rather watch something on youtube
33:08
right then uh how were you with battle reports
33:15
well having worked on battle report since its inception
33:20
um i feel like it is improving
33:26
uh yeah i i think the most recent one with peachy which is hands down the the best the
33:34
best battle report that they've ever put out yeah i wholeheartedly agree with that i think for me
33:40
for the first thing for me from for that one was the fact that me thinking hey i'm getting to see an army that
33:46
isn't out yet being played yes being the leader we've talked about that before haven't
33:51
we like um and i said this is how it should be yeah yeah i said you shouldn't be
33:57
watching guys on youtube who are who are on the influencer program yeah getting their
34:03
their their toy soldiers and their codex and putting together a battle report
34:10
faster than gw yeah and gw has finally got it right they are i don't know because we don't know
34:16
exactly when they're coming out but at least three that battle report is at least three weeks four weeks ahead of
34:21
the game yes and they should be that's how bloody should be yeah you know this this shouldn't be a
34:28
one-off no this should be the norm they've done it with horus heresy haven't they uh yeah
34:34
they put out some horus heresy back reps before anybody else um so and i feel like over time
34:41
the the the quality of the video has improved like the first ones that we did you look back there and you're like god
34:46
that's terrible like the lighting was crap um and like i uh like i was mainly in push
34:55
towards like the editing side of things um but like on like the uh
35:02
the kilting game about angels of death i was like come on we really want to push like me and pat price like we really
35:07
want to push like some dramatic lighting and we did it there and i think it worked quite nicely as like an initial
35:13
step yeah and it's been flubbering around a bit by like whoever is the videographer for for
35:20
bat rip now the the most recent ones the kill team into the dark uh this
35:26
that looks great yeah i think i think the the the quality of it is is getting there um like you can't can't really
35:33
fault it the lighting's nice and all that sort of stuff um what i think battle report falls down on is
35:40
the format yeah and i've talked about this before i think with these big two thousand point
35:46
games like the brief we were given is two thousand one game it has to be under an hour um so you have to cut loads of stuff out
35:53
but they were like we don't want we wanna know everything that goes on so you have to fill it in with interviews
35:59
so it just turns into two people telling you about a game of warhammer
36:04
that they played and they show you one or two cool bits to turn
36:10
and it's not it's not enough again like law masters it was a bit dry and i think what
36:17
in the game that they did with peachy and simon is they were only i presume only showing
36:24
the squats leads to otan that were in like the army
36:29
set that's going to be yeah absolutely right and because they they played it carefully because they
36:34
they had to do two things which was only show you a small amount of them yeah and also
36:40
which you can see by the fact that the game was 1500 points or whatever however many yeah
36:46
2025 power 25 power yeah thank you and
36:51
also the fact is that they couldn't majorly they didn't want to majorly explain the rules of
36:58
of them too much because you know they didn't want people sort of getting too much of a head start on the
37:04
code i think i think there's a bit of sketchiness the codex is leaked now yeah and and everyone i mean sent the space
37:12
marine centre and is going to delete this but the all the memes at the moment are like
37:17
space dwarf have duck gun
37:26
yeah oh is it because it it's something comes something else isn't it
37:32
yeah and everyone's just shortened yeah yeah um but
37:37
so the format for this because it was a smaller game yeah they could show more
37:43
across the table interaction with the players and keep it on the time schedule yeah and then um
37:51
the interviews and stuff were mainly to catch you up on as they should be unimportant bits yeah
37:57
whereas i feel like in some of the horus heresy things um i can't remember his name his long hair
38:03
one of the new presenters oh yeah i know the champion very enthusiastic uh and he was telling telling me through
38:09
the screen oh my god it was amazing like this dreadnought blew up and then this
38:14
dreadnought blew up and oh my god i've never had so many vehicle explosions this is incredible i'd be like yeah i wish i could have
38:21
seen it i know yeah you don't want to be getting told about it after the fact yeah whereas i think with this because it was
38:27
a shorter game that worked in the favor of the former oh you leak in there i think
38:35
maybe oh no it would have been off your brush oh yeah sorry you're just hosing me down
38:41
with me come gun i need an adult
38:48
yeah your girlfriend's on all of you [Laughter]
38:53
um yeah i didn't do slots the photography on it was really nice with regards to the one
39:00
with uh peachy and i remember the other shop's names simon thank you peachy and simon and it was lovely the other thing
39:06
that was nice was it was it was fun which was really nice you know they both they both look like they
39:13
were enjoying themselves yeah the other thing that was lovely was the fact yes that was this studio
39:19
um or or army painter vol fans that they were
39:24
using but on the other side you had peachy's own little guard army i i can't remember it'll kill
39:32
me um but i can't remember the name of of the uh of them
39:37
but they they look great they were really because it was nice to see a converted army instead of just one of
39:42
the standard stock armies it was you know um but yeah i thought that worked really i
39:48
thought it was lovely to see two really nice pictures oh well done
39:54
well done venturi and nobles that's the very fellas but yeah it was really done it was really well done i yeah i really
40:01
like that one and some of the comedy remarks that we got out of peachy oh brilliant yeah and and
40:08
that was where the the two camera sort of interview things worked really really well it did
40:14
and i thought i thought they were very very well used as opposed to just like i rolled this and then i did that
40:20
yeah um trying to catch people up so it was worth it just for the names of some of the characters and peachy's army okay
40:29
i wish i could remember what the name off the top of me had i remember what the name of his uh his female rogue
40:35
trader was but i remember at the time geforing massively when he yeah he said it and the fact that everything was
40:40
revolving around how many feathers he had on there yeah it was a really lovely
40:45
really really lovely um battle report that i really liked yeah and i think it felt
40:52
yeah i've said it felt fun i think it felt authentically fun yeah um like
41:00
that and that's that's for me that's what i would prefer to watch rather than like a dry technical
41:06
game um and i think that's in general what youtube has
41:12
over warhammer plus in the battle report uh standings is the youtube battle reports
41:19
like if i watch one because i don't really play i don't play yeah i i sit
41:24
and paint and edit lots of videos um i think
41:30
like the that one with peachy and simon wanted me to like i wanted to play i was like hey
41:36
playing warhammer looks like great fun yeah whereas i've been sat in that studio um i remember we filmed the
41:44
garden of iax narrative battle yeah and that took from
41:50
nine in the morning till 8 pm in the evening something like that we were filming for like 11 hours it was
41:57
brutal um and we were under strict instructions has to be done in a day and and that did change over time because
42:03
you're like this just isn't working um but uh but yeah so i think the youtube
42:10
back reps in general have the tick mark over warhammer plus
42:15
one plus you have the uh you know the production quality is a bit higher yeah but the um 40k in
42:21
40 minutes guys their production quality is really good um tabletop tactics they have a large group
42:28
of people they all seem really fun and friendly and and they know all their stuff um
42:33
and they have like a really big community around them now so that's really cool to see well you have that with um
42:40
uh winter's winter's seo yeah you know it's it's not filmed on anywhere near you know it's basically filmed on
42:47
on a phone yeah but just the enthusiasm for the game yeah between
42:53
him and his numerous different guests works yeah really well you know
42:58
and this is this will be interesting because there might be people watching that think that most recent black report they'd be
43:05
like i didn't like that because it was fun and it wasn't like here are the new squats and here's like
43:11
it's not it wasn't maybe they really like all spectastics tactics and number
43:16
crunching and statistics and all that kind of thing like i said you can't you can't you're never going to please
43:22
everyone no but at the same point in time if that's what you're getting out of warhammer
43:27
that you know if you want to get that out of warmer heart harmony then then yes you obviously should but not at the expense of fun being the first yeah most
43:35
important thing you know yeah i'd rather watch two people not explain
43:40
statistics and of of how likely they are to pull something off yeah versus the funnels rather the phone was the thing i
43:47
was watching you know yeah yeah so yeah yeah i'm not on board with with the idea
43:52
of it being people getting upset about about they didn't get enough you know
43:58
stats with regards how that army's gonna play i'd rather see two people playing and if that army was fun for simon to
44:05
play with as a new army i'd rather take that away from it than anything else personally
44:10
yeah you know so um but you know one of the things i've got to say even though at this point in time
44:16
i'm not yet somebody who plays this game as yet although i've got lots of it um
44:22
i think some of the battle reports i've enjoyed the most going back through them and having a a bit of a look for this retrospective
44:29
was um i think i really like the kill team ones yeah because i find because kill teams
44:34
quick and punchy yeah i think some of the kill team battle reports i think are some of the ones that work yeah the best
44:41
i think yeah i think so you know because you don't need to do these big
44:46
interview sections about what went on because the game is so quick i think you can literally just get on
44:52
with playing the game in within the a lot pretty much within your lots of time with the show i think yeah
44:58
so i enjoyed i've enjoyed going back and looking through them again and like i say yeah it's not yet a game
45:04
i'm really up i'm up to speed with but like the christmas special was really fun yeah it was really yeah it was space
45:09
balls and uh was it the squigs and uh and orcs and everything um like that was
45:16
yeah themed and just like hilarious yeah yeah really really fun so yeah they've
45:22
been so they they've been pressuring more than i thought they would so yeah um
45:31
if i had to if i had to say a down a battle reporter didn't like
45:36
wasn't massively fit it wasn't massively a big fan of nick pretending to be an orc
45:41
oh yeah i found yeah yeah no please don't don't do that nick
45:46
um and i i don't think i could roll but i mean fair play to him uh
45:52
putting on an orc voice for like the entirety of a battle report um that must have been an absolute
45:58
challenge uh hats off but uh yeah yeah like that that sort of
46:04
extent of role play i don't think it's for me no um but i think i think he i think you're absolutely
46:10
right i think the most recent one with uh with mr peach and simon was uh yeah
46:16
was by far the best for me i think yeah yeah so that's that covered that reps yeah hopefully they they uh
46:24
stick to yeah whoever's filming of the moment the videographer's doing a good job yeah and
46:30
uh they're improving yeah you know less less narration to camera and more of the
46:36
game would be good but i understand the time constraints but but still yeah i
46:42
want to see it more than i want you to tell me about it yeah you know yeah yeah so you know but generally not bad to be
46:48
fair yeah uh onto masterclass yeah i've got yeah i've got yeah i've got some things to
46:55
say about masterclass but i'll let you go first if you like yeah can do can do so it started off i feel like i feel
47:01
like there was a shift in masterclass when aiden joined yeah um like the
47:09
the palettes the palette shots are no longer real they're set up afterwards and
47:15
you're just mixing paint and all that kind of thing um and i i feel like say
47:22
i'm fully aware that they not necessarily aimed at newbie rubbish painters like myself
47:28
um but i i no longer think of masterclass as tuition
47:34
i think of it as watching really good painters
47:41
paint stuff um like the well i i used one of suggs videos
47:48
recently to uh paint my first plasma pistol yeah um and and that that was
47:53
helpful um but i feel like there was quite a lot of prior knowledge um
47:59
that you kind of had to know like what a glaze is and all that kind of stuff and i'm still
48:05
crap at it but i managed to fudge my way through it but not showing the paint
48:10
consistencies essentially they are the youtube painting videos
48:16
with less help and more expected knowledge so aiden painted the avatar of kane three
48:22
three-part video series absolutely massive the um
48:27
the mini that he produced at the end of it stunning incredible yeah um i always
48:32
say aidan is an absolutely phenomenal painter he will be a much better painter than i will ever
48:39
be yeah ever um but i feel like master class
48:46
isn't it's hard to follow and
48:51
it's becoming increasingly unhelpful yeah i think
48:57
i think masterclass works at its best when it's
49:03
small bits of information yeah on how to do a particular thing yes and
49:09
i will say now absolute hats off to louise on
49:15
pretty much all of them yeah i think she's done a phenomenal job i would rather watch
49:20
louise show me how to paint words in a book yeah then so then aiden paint a whole
49:26
miniature yes you know aidan did a phenomenal job of painting that um
49:32
one of the 30k captains called praetors yeah he did that he did that um yeah
49:38
horus wandered needed the the sons of horus one it was amazingly painted yeah
49:44
but i feel like i get much more obvious how to do the bend on the end of a flamer or the end of a gun or however
49:50
liquid in glass bottles yeah which you know that is there now and i know at some point in time
49:56
i've got a death guard character covered in glass bottles and i know that's there as a resource
50:02
that stuff is really useful and i think louise really threw a heart and soul
50:08
into a lot of them like the um doing the camouflage cloaks for the eldar yeah really good yeah so them bits
50:16
have in the past been massively useful but i have felt with more of the recent stuff yes it's me watching someone who
50:23
can paint better than i yeah and the thing that i think which i thought was shocking
50:30
considering um how good a painter even is if we rewind back to last christmas
50:38
that's sort of thrown together in 10 minutes i'll have to paint the space marine yeah was that awful that video
50:44
wasn't great yeah no it was like step one it was like the back of the box
50:50
base coat it add some details heavy metal yeah um and and
50:56
it was almost like aidan forgot that he was meant to be teaching somebody else to do it yes and then at a similar time
51:02
um someone that we are both a big fan of infernal brush dave perriman put out his
51:08
ultramarine video christ yeah way more detail um equally unaccessible for someone like
51:16
me yeah but loads of explanation yes yes and and say like putting an edge highlight on
51:22
like you know every metal it's two edge highlights and he was like a good idea for putting your first one down is do it
51:29
as thin as possible and then double it yeah and i was like hey that's a good way of approaching it
51:35
i would have never thought of that um and that was what was lacking in in
51:40
that one yeah it's like how to paint what made that worse as well
51:45
was not only was that not particularly great it was the only thing on the episode
51:51
that week yeah yeah you got about seven or eight minutes of content yeah yeah you know
51:57
yeah which was pretty shocking it was tumbleweeds at christmas last year yeah so i think if i'm picking a
52:03
highlight for me i couldn't pin it down to one particular thing but it would be the lots of little
52:09
helpful little segments that louise done because some of them were really really good and some of them are sitting there
52:15
in the bank for me to use on things when i get to when i get around to it yeah so they were really
52:21
good um if i had to give a waste and i've talked about it previously on
52:27
the show and you did as well that their degree episode where it just didn't remotely match what was being
52:33
shown as the end product um we're shocked because they got the heavy metal night abominant they did and said
52:40
we're going to do this and then they painted it and then at the end they showed the 360s of the night abominant
52:47
yeah that had already been and it was quite mismatched yeah it wasn't good at all yeah i feel like that
52:53
is like a gw let's get a video out this week let's do
53:00
it really fast aiden you probably painted that when you're at heavy metal yeah but with the schedule
53:06
probably like 12 18 months ago can you can you do it again but in a fraction of the time yeah um so
53:12
so i'm not i'm not ripping on aiden i'm ripping on sort of what's been
53:18
thrown at him to do it yeah you know however the the schedule and all and he has gone back he has gone back to every
53:24
mountain now he's no longer yeah which which is a shame because he's a phenomenal painter yeah
53:29
um but he's a phenomenal painter but i'd rather
53:35
watch louise show me 25 bits of different
53:40
things yeah i think i think masterclass is she kind of cornered a niche that not
53:46
necessarily anybody else was was doing um i feel like she covered some stuff that i was like hey that's
53:52
really cool i i've never thought about it and the funny thing is is if it's reflective now to some degree
53:58
of if you look at some of the good painters are out there on youtube are doing what she do does but even in
54:05
an even shorter time they're doing a short ago so i mean after after
54:23
like i think available mouth put one out maverick paints yeah um midwinter minis he's done one recently
54:30
um doing the one on his titan maybe there's some fortunate timing but there i feel like there was quite a bunch that
54:37
yeah that came out yeah i think people realize segmented bits of just little parts of it he's really helpful he's
54:43
really helpful and i think louise to be fair to a sort of
54:49
you know because even led the way with that because even duncan and roger
54:54
um when she was like here's his a 30-minute video on how to paint a face
54:59
yeah um and then here's how to do this here's how to do that here's how to do white armor and then say like the likes
55:06
of duncan and roger who i mean you got to give them credit because they
55:13
came up with the youtube warhammer painting format and then yeah they've taken it and done it themselves
55:18
warhammer of games workshop have carried it on but with different staff um
55:25
they only ever painted full miniatures previously i believe and then warhammer
55:30
plus came and it's like here's how to paint a face here's how to paint this weapon he's had to paint this cloak like
55:36
you say and then here they are going here's three ways to paint faces here's some
55:43
energy weapons that was here's three ways to paint orcskin i felt really sorry for um i did feel sorry for games
55:50
workshop because they'd obviously put a lot of effort at time and effort and louisa put a lot of time of effort in
55:55
yeah and it was almost like duncan went what are they doing this week right okay we'll do that but we'll do it
56:01
you know potentially in a more lay man's way and we'll show a number of different ways to do it yeah yeah they they
56:08
they nailed that they nailed that in really quickly yeah and i felt a bit sorry for uh i felt a bit sorry for
56:14
warhammer plus the fact that they'd sort of uh that uh duncan had come out and come in and gone
56:20
i'm not gonna do one i'm gonna do three and i'm gonna do that really which is is like is more efficiently he's more
56:27
accessible he's more helpful like i i would look at it and go okay i could definitely do one
56:33
maybe i'd give two a try a few times and it is it's like it's somewhere to start and i can see some
56:39
progression yeah whereas masterclass which you know to be fair is called masterclass it's meant to be every metal
56:45
standard of painting um it's just like face and i'm like new
56:51
no no i i i tried louise's and i in fairness to it it was a really really
56:57
good looking space marine face yeah but it wasn't my skill set couldn't get there it had about 14 paints in it for a
57:03
start yeah you know yeah obviously you know i thought i think my i think my paint collection
57:09
almost doubled when i just went and bought all the pinks to try that face you know yeah yeah yeah yeah it was just too difficult i was probably she was
57:16
using paints i didn't even know existed yeah you know but um i took it wrong the end result was great
57:22
but um it was just a bit too much for me so yeah i'm not going to pull out a single video from masterclass i would
57:29
just say um the smaller like bite-sized videos yes louise's how to do this particular
57:35
bit of something just the bits that i thought worked best for me i thought it worked well yeah and the west one was uh
57:43
possibly the very degree or maybe fighting for that spot with the uh the christmas ultramarine just you have to
57:49
put the bristles in the paint
57:56
thanks aidan that's where we go wrong
58:01
no wonder that marker pen has not been doing the job yeah yeah so um
58:06
oh i think we can pretty much round up there i think we've covered pretty much all the bits we need to talk about
58:12
the vault i haven't loaded up the vault no i have another vault so that is another chunk
58:17
of change that i'm losing um i haven't been using the app i probably
58:23
will do i use the app on and i use the app on and off yeah the app
58:29
i like the fact it's got all photographs of the i like the fact that it's got all photographs of the things that you want to put in and and
58:35
you know and all of their equipment is there and all the rest of it it just sometimes just literally just
58:41
falls over and it's really irritating because you're going come on guys you're the
58:47
people this is your stuff yeah you know and and and yeah there is there's another there is
58:53
another very popular one out there that you don't pay for and and and works very well yeah
58:59
but that's a bit dry you know because it's like it doesn't have any images it's
59:07
you know sometimes the glance things are a little bit easier on the game's workshop on just to look through yeah
59:12
but the other one it has so much more information and you're not paying for it and it's not
59:18
expecting you to have bought a book first and you know and then put the code in to be
59:23
able to access that yeah it's all there and then i'm sure that one drives games workshop up the wall
59:29
and i think if my information was from all the books that you know i
59:34
was producing and expecting people to pay for was just coming in willy-nilly off this site i'd probably
59:41
be annoyed with it as well but yeah you know if if you don't want people to
59:46
use that one make your own better yeah make yours work as good as it can work you know and that's the problem so
59:53
yeah so i do use it but uh intermittently when i can get it to work
59:58
yeah is um it's what i would say there so i feel yeah i feel like the the general
1:00:06
outcome of this is is is warhammer plus worth it that's
1:00:11
specific to you and what you can get out of it yeah absolutely yeah as we talked about
1:00:17
before if you do the maths with regards sell on that miniature or keep in that miniature if you love it and how much
1:00:22
that miniature would cost if you have to go and buy it yeah and if you are already using the army builder and now
1:00:27
you don't have to pay for it because it's rolled into that other bit are you getting out of that and if you know how much of what you you what you
1:00:34
take in or use for painting or you really love the law it's literally it's a hard one to say
1:00:40
because it is so personal isn't it yeah yeah um hopes for next year hopes for next year
1:00:48
uh started i started two which is what everybody everybody who's reviewing
1:00:54
warhammer plus is gonna say i mean well it's true i think year two should be because classic gw style
1:01:01
they only so astartes the guy that made it his
1:01:07
name escapes me um they announced that they sort of bought him
1:01:13
like maybe a month or two before yeah uh 100 plus
1:01:19
kicked off so if you think he he would have started from scratch then
1:01:25
yeah or there probably will have been months of no we need to get this story right and
1:01:31
make sure everyone's got the right squad markings on and this that and the other like it's slow pro progress i don't
1:01:36
think we get a star i'm going to be as bold to say is i don't think we'll get a starters two this year
1:01:42
oh christ no i think it will know 20 25 and i wouldn't be i if you know if i should before march i'd be surprised
1:01:49
um i think there's like a they released some like um 3d renders of some black templars i
1:01:54
think that's going to be chaos and that was a long time ago they released those that's going to be one there's going to be one with the iron warriors i think
1:02:01
and the quality looks to be improving the quality looks to be which is a big wedge because it looks great
1:02:06
anyway yeah what we what people expect it to be i think
1:02:12
maybe this year is kind of like hey we've got the fan animators in
1:02:18
um we're allowing them to work full-time and put content on warhammer plus
1:02:24
okay the episodes are really short and you've done what you can and this that and the other hopefully the money they invested last year will pay dividends
1:02:32
this year yeah there's a few things i i'd like to see like um weren't we meant to be getting
1:02:38
like exclusive tickets to events if you're a warhammer plus yeah and i don't unless that went by me i don't remember
1:02:43
that no i i don't either i i think that so this little exclusive club that we
1:02:49
were meant to feel like we were part of did you really seem to appear yeah i think now i wanted like a warhammer plus
1:02:55
members only day or yeah at least like advanced notice on getting tickets for golden team and in case you'd wanted to
1:03:01
put greg in good old greg and and that's an interesting thing so golden demon people
1:03:08
have been really struggling to get tickets yeah and warhammer plus was meant to be you know
1:03:14
some kind of exclusivity yeah what happened to that if you had one plus could you have gotten early release
1:03:19
tickets for goldman demon yeah um that i imagine could i i bet there's people that would
1:03:26
have bought warhammer plus just to get an early ticket that absolutely yeah we it's also got dressed
1:03:31
up as being you know this special little club and it's not really felt like it so far no i
1:03:37
think i think all of the problems with warhammer plus have come from how it was
1:03:42
originally marketed yeah and how transparent the marketing department or the lack of transparency
1:03:49
with when stuff's going to be released how frequently it's going to be released i think they they let people believe
1:03:55
that there was going to be a new episode of animation every week and that just hasn't been the case that
1:04:02
wasn't the case they would have known that going forwards yeah um and i think angels of death
1:04:08
well i mean christ deep strike everyone's favorite show
1:04:14
everyone loves weight c3 oh you finished i see now i know i am like deep striking moment to drink
1:04:20
pretended to stuff it see it's see-through well it's dripping a table stain all over you um
1:04:30
with me fake mug of coffee so we got four or five episodes into the
1:04:35
release of angels of death and it went on a mid-season hiatus hiatus because
1:04:42
they had said hey they just aren't going to be ready that was yeah and then they went right
1:04:48
what can we do what how can we plug a gap um because
1:04:54
the battle reports were like going down the toilet at that stage
1:04:59
yeah um they were taking a really long time to film
1:05:04
even longer to edit yeah um like i was the sort of primary editor
1:05:10
um and it took a lot of me saying this is too much for one person to edit in a week yeah uh with the format and how it
1:05:17
was and how it's been filmed and all that kind of stuff and the the computers that we were editing on and so on and so
1:05:23
forth and i remember like one of my i had a hard drive that exploded and uh
1:05:28
it was a it was a age of sigma battle report with um
1:05:35
guys on like mammoths and stuff oh yeah yeah yeah um i remember that and um
1:05:41
they got a rule quite they got a really important rule wrong
1:05:46
when they were playing it so they had to film it twice yeah they had to film the
1:05:51
second half of it twice i edited it we're getting towards the end
1:05:56
my raid drive blew up because i was editing off a raid drive i
1:06:02
found on the floor all right um so i was editing off my own hard drives and i was told i couldn't because i could you know
1:06:09
take it home because they were mine yeah i had to edit and i was like well could i have a hard drive i don't have enough space on my computer and there was just
1:06:16
some on the floor and it was oh try one of them it might work okay simon's editing off of that
1:06:22
and long and behold it gave up the ghost oh it's so funny um so yeah deep strike
1:06:30
happened um it was the idea of it was floated um
1:06:36
on like thursday of one week it was filmed monday and released on thursday so that
1:06:42
was like a week and that first episode was like the epitome of dry games workshop sort of drivel yeah
1:06:50
for me it was like we've got a fake mug we're relatable humans who also drink
1:06:56
liquid what was your favorite part with the red people and the baddies
1:07:05
i really liked it when the red person shot his gun at the baddie yeah
1:07:11
yeah i don't i do you know what i'd rather about the gap than just the uh yeah the company or
1:07:16
company organized circle jack that it was yeah yeah and and long behold they did three of them and
1:07:23
they haven't touched it they just take the breaks now yeah yeah they just take
1:07:28
deep strike was was like ill-conceived poorly received um it wasn't enjoyable
1:07:35
to watch no um adam trope bless him
1:07:40
i don't know like he's not like one of the presenters i'm not really sure why he was there
1:07:45
um yeah it's just a bit of a of a bizarre show and everyone saw
1:07:52
through it oh they're trying to keep us located you know placid whilst whilst we're
1:07:58
waiting for for another episode of animation yeah right then i've been giving it some thought as what i would
1:08:04
like for year two yeah okay right i've gone on about it nearly every bloody time i've talked
1:08:10
about warhammer plus yeah subtitles for deaf people yeah 10 seconds forward 10 seconds backwards
1:08:17
oh massively useful for when someone is painting yeah and you didn't hear what they said my special little ticket for
1:08:25
things for me to go to because i have a really fragile ego and i want to feel special
1:08:31
all right let's you're honest yeah here's a really throwaway crate i'm going to throw in one of them really
1:08:37
crazy bizarre fanboy ideas that i know we're not going to get oh but you know when we have
1:08:43
um when we have angel when we have season two of astartes yeah here's an idea
1:08:51
how about a transfer sheet yeah yeah yeah or even go crazy some helmets
1:08:58
and some shoulder pads you now own these marines they're yours games workshop
1:09:03
when we love them we all think they're cool with their little sargenty stripes on their helmets and one thing or
1:09:09
another how about letting us in on it yeah
1:09:14
i think own them own them and let us own them i was quite surprised so we we filmed the um
1:09:22
kill team angels of death yeah and the army painter uh for warhammer plus um
1:09:29
his name has been have been in a few articles it's out there you'll be able to find out who he is but i don't want to sort of like name him in case he yeah
1:09:36
doesn't want us to um he painted um the
1:09:41
like kill team and made them look exactly like the show and i was like why haven't they
1:09:49
made their own models like specific mod because he didn't kick bashing and changed a few bits around
1:09:55
and all that kind of thing i was like why didn't they release like a like a kill team box with angels of
1:10:01
death and who knows maybe in the future you never mind you never know maybe they will do a bit more planning that would be great
1:10:06
so apparently the terminator for year two was designed five years ago
1:10:12
wow yeah apparently aiden it was on a live stream of inferno brush and they
1:10:17
were they were chatting about it and they said apparently aidan painted it uh in every metal and it's nicely painted
1:10:23
as well like four years ago wow apparently the promo stuff is made so far in advance
1:10:29
well you'd never know that potentially could have been made for like a games day or something like that and then or would have been like uh instead of the
1:10:36
anniversary inquisitor yeah you got it that might have been him yeah and the last one is something to add to
1:10:42
the show what i think he did this show i think what i think warhammer plus desperately needs
1:10:48
is it needs a five minute long ten minute long however long it needs to be
1:10:54
tactics show where you just go yeah have you ever thought of using this stratagem with
1:11:01
this action and doing this have you ever thought of this or let's give you a good
1:11:06
example of how crossfire works for gene steeler cult yeah how the best how to get the
1:11:12
best melee out of your black templars people are playing the game they are
1:11:18
already in they're playing the game give them right
1:11:24
higher the guy who every year is scoring pretty much the highest in the tournaments
1:11:32
throw the codex at him and get him to teach us a 10 minute little how to trap
1:11:37
your body in a thing how to get this why have we got it's great that we've
1:11:42
got a battle report but can we maybe just have a small little tactics show
1:11:48
this is just it just strikes me as the really obviously missing thing how to get the
1:11:53
best out to your trans human physiology because nobody's going to get the best housing nobody does that
1:11:59
like at all because everyone's let's do it because if you don't i'll start reading the books and i'll do it yeah yeah
1:12:04
i i think i think like easily digestible tactics shows yeah i can't believe
1:12:12
nobody's doing them because it's it's it's either full battle reports or bust yeah it's not like a ten minute one yeah
1:12:19
yeah just do one go how to get you know here's how we think it's the best way to
1:12:25
get your whatever's in the tyranids army across the board here's how the best way to do this
1:12:31
and you know what people i think people would lap that up and especially think of lapra because i think what it would
1:12:37
do i think it would cause a lot of discussion as well and i think that's you know is always useful yeah i think he missing
1:12:45
games workshop i know you're obviously watching maybe they're not but i'm gonna say they
1:12:51
are um yeah i do you know what
1:12:57
release release law master every time you're releasing a new codex do something on that and then the rest of
1:13:02
the time can be just on a tactic show yeah it wouldn't be that hard even if you even if the tactics you're showing
1:13:10
is from the battle report you're putting out that month yeah just go take them
1:13:15
aside and go here's a particular trap that works really well because they have
1:13:20
they've got the space they have the set they've got the presenters they the chances are they have the videographers
1:13:26
as well um i i think yeah that is because i mean even when i was there warhammer plus had
1:13:32
launched and they were like hey what what do we do for for year two and i know me and me and pat put
1:13:40
together a big list of ideas and and nothing was actioned yeah i
1:13:45
think i genuinely don't really think any warhammer
1:13:50
original shows are gonna be added which is a shame i think they're just
1:13:56
getting it to a level where they can just keep doing it and and that will be it forever like the the
1:14:02
intro to battle report i had a very
1:14:08
strong arm in yeah editing it obviously like you sent it off for feedback and
1:14:14
a manager says i need to feel like my job's important do this you're like okay mr middle management um
1:14:21
and then there's a bit of a generalization and oversimplification but
1:14:26
everybody throws in the bits i edited it into a thing and would be in the studio and they'd be like right pat what what
1:14:33
bit do we need to do now well i'm like right in the edit we go to this but there's
1:14:38
360s over it so we don't have to video record it we just need to get the audio of okay so next up is this guy and he
1:14:45
has this gun blah blah blah that intro that format hasn't changed
1:14:51
since i came up with it a year ago since we we developed it as team year ago i think it's just going to stay the same
1:14:57
have you got anything you'd like to see them out for the year too i think the tactics show's uh a really
1:15:03
big one um i i think that was something we we floated the idea of
1:15:09
getting a tick tock account um which we was pushed back on and then we were like a year ago and i feel like tick tock is
1:15:16
well it's the most downloaded now isn't it yeah and it was like why on earth aren't you on ryanair has an amazing
1:15:21
tick tock why can't warhammer have one it's because everything they everything has to be really dry and serious and well we
1:15:30
proved by not being dry and not being serious with our beautiful yellow painted space
1:15:36
marine that patio did greg 2.3 million views on tick-tock
1:15:42
positive i'm a visionary because it's a bit of fun
1:15:48
you know what i mean i think i think it connected with people i mean i mean that
1:15:54
was a retaliation to people going to us you guys are crap painters and it's like yeah obviously yeah
1:16:01
it's not it's not used oh it makes it really makes me giggle when people come i mean it maybe it's my fault for the way that
1:16:08
i edit them but you know the videos were released i had edit down a short and and this one was you know 30 minute
1:16:16
challenge it has the countdown timer at the top um and it spins around and and we count it
1:16:22
in and then it has the 360s and then someone was like come on lads let's be honest that's not very good
1:16:29
and i was just like well done on commenting on what was just really
1:16:35
obviously clear for everyone yeah to see of course they're not very good we've got a clock at the corner we did it in
1:16:41
30 minutes we're not great yeah yeah we're really not great in 30 minutes yeah we're we're already handicapped and
1:16:48
we're tying another hand behind our back yeah and and um yeah we just have a laugh and and yeah people were like
1:16:54
you're crap so i was like i'll show you crap
1:16:59
and it's the most successful thing we've ever released but yeah so
1:17:06
for me to round up because i feel like i've been positive and i feel like i've done like one of
1:17:12
them what they call a [ __ ] somewhere i've done positive negative but i'm going to end on a positive yeah i think we have to yeah
1:17:18
i'm glad warhammer plus exists yes i really do i think it just enriches the
1:17:24
hobby more it just needs to get better it just needs to be
1:17:31
you need to look at what people are going into all the bits of youtube to find
1:17:37
and just add more personality
1:17:43
look at what people need out of the hobby like the tactics elements of it yeah yeah you know i think that it's
1:17:49
just just it it's it's you know the annoying thing is i i'm giving a plus as
1:17:54
opposed to a minus for the year yeah but it's just like oh it could just if you're just a bit more yeah yeah yeah
1:18:01
you know again like like i said christ i mean we've been going in an hour and 20 minutes yeah like i said i think a lot
1:18:08
of the faults with warhammer plus down to how it was marketed at the beginning and what people were led to believe it
1:18:14
would be rather than what it actually was well let's hope in the second year it is what it's meant to be yes i yeah i
1:18:23
i think i think that's a good idea i think we should end on if you live in the east midlands
1:18:30
and you're up on your tactics send us send us an email
1:18:37
first copyright yeah 10 minutes tactic shows we've got to do it man that's such a good idea yeah yeah if you know what
1:18:43
you're talking about yeah i mean call about the game but i can make a
1:18:49
good video about anything there you go there there is the there is
1:18:54
the gauntlet thrown down for any of you if you think you know what you're talking about send us your cv and i will
1:18:59
pay you potentially nothing because we don't earn anything from this no wait wait
1:19:04
we've got 50p from tick tock yeah well we're in credit with tick tock it's better than us as though we don't
1:19:10
know we take top money but they have they have a minimum amount um a minimal withdrawal amount that we're not
1:19:17
currently at um so the 50p is purely just a made-up 50p it's like
1:19:24
yeah it's like crypto i like the idea the fact that it's not enough to buy a mars bar and even if it was we wouldn't
1:19:30
let us have the money to go buy one anyway [Laughter]
1:19:35
right then so that's our year in review of warhammer plus ah let's see
1:19:43
subscribe like share notifications all of them that would be really nice yeah if you're still here
1:19:50
bravo yeah it's been a long one yeah good on you for uh sticking with it yeah and we
1:19:56
should just give them that final little bit of information oh you're gonna tease them jeff you're gonna tease them
1:20:03
within a month the painting phase will never be the
1:20:08
same again just keep watching
1:20:13
we might learn to paint and we might learn the tactics it could all be better in a month's time
1:20:21
yeah yeah we're just going to quit
