Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 20: Issues 75-78 Review – Introduction

Once again, we find ourselves nearing the very end of another spectacular collection from Hachette. Even though it was a good few years ago now, it feels like Imperium only ended yesterday. Instead, we’re on the cusp of the launch of the next Warhammer 40,000 collection: Combat Patrol, and find ourselves already into the next edition of Age of Sigmar.

With only a handful of magazines left to go, let’s dive right in and see what other fantastical goodies there are still on offer with Stormbringer.

In spite of its high value, there’s not actually all that much in Delivery 20. Alongside the usual selection of magazines, there are only three miniatures (but they are pretty cool – and more on them in a minute).

The Magazines

Issue 75, which will net buyers the awesome Orruk Warchanter, has, er, absolutely no lore in it whatsoever. We dive right into the nitty-gritting with the model itself, ebfore dedicating a lot of the magazines to painting guides and getting both the Warchanter and your scenery finished off. There’s also a collection of rules-related stuff, but given that we’re into the opening stages of a brand-new edition of Age of Sigmar, this stuff is fairly useless now (unless you’ve deicded you prefer AoS V 3.0 over 4.0).

Issue 76, which nets you the first bit of the Stormdrake Guard, contains a short story about orruks and Stormcast Eternals for your reading pleasure, as well as the construction guide for the Stormdrake Guard. There’s also more rules stuff but, as mentioned above, this is now out-of-date.

Issue 77 contains the next chunk of Stormdrake Guard, a story about orruks, some info about Troggoths and Stormdrake Guard, and a ton of stuff for painting. There’s also a techniques fold-out included with this issue, which will serve as a useful reminder for any less-confident or more inexperienced painters.

Finally, Issue 78 sees the Sylvaneth face off against the Ironjawz in another story, then a large painting guide for the Stormdrake Guard and some rules information for them.

Miniatures

Issue 75 comes with the awesome – and very, very fun – Orruk Warchanter.

Easy to build and a fun little model to boot, this chap was, I believe, the first Orruk miniature I ever painted when I started collecting the army that would earn me a feature in White Dwarf magazine (you can even see him in this picture). That you can snag him for under a tenner is an absolute steal.

Know what else is a steal? Two Stormdrake Guard for under thirty pounds.

Across Issue 76, Issue 77, and Issue 78, you’ll be able to build these two impressive models. They look absolutely spectacular, and will look even better painted up and soaring over the Stormcast Eternals that you’ve collected across the course of this subscription – because this is it for them now. With only one final delivery to go, we are waving the Stormcast Eternals goodbye.

It’s a pretty great note to end on though, let’s be honest.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Delivery 20: Issues 75-78 Review – Final Thoughts

The GoodThe Bad
Really nice models
Stormdrake Guard, in spite of their size, are relatively easy to build
Good savings
Not masses in this delivery, in spite of its value

In spite of the Stormdrake Guard, I’m not quite as excited for the contents of this delivery as I was for the previous one. Don’t get me wrong, this is still a great selection of miniatures, albeit that there are only three of them, I’m just not quite as excited for two dragon-riders and an Orruk with two huge drumsticks (which feels weird to say) than I was about a pile of brand-new Ardboyz and the insurmountable Bastian Carthalos.

With only one delivery to go, the end is in sight. Make sure you take full advantage of the issues that are available via Forbidden Planet whilst they last (buying also helps us out)!

If no news, bad news about issues 81-90, right? It would be nice to have another extra issues of this collection.

With Warhammer 40,000: Imperium, subscribers received a letter (if i recall correctly) saying that they were automatically included in the issues 81 – 90 at the base price.

As there has not been a letter in the second to last delivery about stormbringer continuing, I’m 95% sure that the series will end with the 80th issue.
