hello everybody it's peachy here today
0:02
I'm going to be showing you how to paint
0:03
a Clone Trooper Of The 501st Welcome to
0:06
the painting phase
0:08
[Music]
0:12
so I'm a big fan of Star Wars and most
0:14
specifically the Clone Wars TV series so
0:16
what better than to take you through on
0:18
how to paint a clone trooper most
0:19
specifically a member of the 501st
0:22
Legion one of Anakin's own if you like
0:24
so in this guide what I'm going to do is
0:26
first of all take you through on how to
0:27
paint a standard clone at the end of it
0:29
we'll then show you how to do the 501st
0:31
markings and then move on to some Basin
0:33
as well we're gonna go for a nice
0:34
geonosan theme with the Basin now before
0:36
we begin painting our claim the first
0:38
thing we need to do is undercoater I've
0:39
used White Scar but to be fair any white
0:41
undercoat will do the job or even an
0:43
airbrush if you have one with that
0:45
undercoat and outer eye what we're now
0:46
going to do is we're going to apply a
0:47
soul blight grate all over the model now
0:49
thin this down one part water to one
0:50
part sole black gray I'm also using a
0:52
dry brush here because it gives a nice
0:54
softer effect as you start applying it
0:56
over it's going to go in the recesses
0:57
but also it's not going to look too
0:58
blotchy on those panels after the clone

from
1:01

1:04
[Music]
1:14
Grace thoroughly dry now what we're now
1:16
going to do is do a dry brush over the
1:18
arm just to help pick out those edges
1:19
now here I'm using bold titanium white
1:21
from procreel but any white will do the
1:24
job
1:24
remember to remove as much of that
1:26
pigment as possible and just gently
1:27
flick over those edges
1:33
[Music]
1:37
foreign
1:43
moving on from our dry brush what we're
1:45
now going to do is get black Legion
1:46
we're going to apply this into the
1:48
undersuit areas of our Clone Trooper
1:49
around his visor as well and also we're
1:51
going to coat it over the gun now
1:53
something to bear in mind here is when
1:55
I'm doing this stage it's going to be a
1:56
bit messy and you're probably going to
1:57
get some of that black Legion over your
1:59
white not to worry you can always tidy
2:00
back up in a moment
2:08
as you can see here there's a big black
2:11
splodge on that visor so all we're going
2:12
to do is get Bolta titanium white and
2:14
just tighten it back up again check over
2:15
the model just to make sure there's no
2:16
other splodges
2:19
now this is optional you don't have to
2:21
do this but what I'm going to do now is
2:23
add a little bit of battle damage to our
2:24
clone by getting some skaven block dinge
2:26
and sponge that over now again just be
2:28
mindful of how much you get onto that
2:30
sponge try and dab off as much as you
2:32
possibly can it's a little bit like dry
2:34
brushing and just gently dab over the
2:35
armor
2:40
now any sponge will do I've used figure
2:43
case sponge I mean you can use that or
2:44
if you've got a household sponge you can
2:46
use that I got on my eye
2:51
where did that go where did that go
2:54
next up is to pick out that Blaster
2:56
using iron Warriors now the great thing
2:58
is we're just gonna be coated over that
3:00
black Legion so you don't have to go to
3:01
all the edges in those nooks and
3:02
crannies and just to finish that Blaster
3:04
off what we're going to do is get our
3:05
black Legion and really thin it down so
3:07
you're probably looking at like two
3:08
parts water to one part of that Legion
3:09
and then carry that all over if however
3:11
you have a shade that's black such as
3:13
non oil or even basilicon and gray it'll
3:16
do the job just as well so with that gun
3:17
now done our Clone Trooper is pretty
3:19
much finished so you can leave your
3:20
clones at this point and then just play
3:22
games with them and if you're enjoying
3:24
this video do make sure you like And
3:26
subscribe also check out our patreon for
3:28
some more interesting details you can do
3:30
with your clone troopers
3:32
however we're going to carry on right
3:34
now and show you how to take your Clone
3:36
Trooper into the levels of the 501st
3:38
Legion so first of all we're going to be
3:40
using stormfiend when we coating that
3:42
straight from the pot over the armor
3:44
details that we need to pick out now the
3:46
clone troopers markings can be quite
3:47
complicated so in this case I'm just
3:49
applying some iron motion ah on own nose
3:52
now the clone troopers markings can be
3:54
quite complicated so if you wanted to
3:56
just make your life a lot easier you can
3:57
just pick out those shoulder pauldrons
3:59
those shoulder pauldrons done what we're
4:00
now going to do is pick out that chest
4:02
marking so here I'm just going to use
4:04
some storm fiend and if I make any
4:05
mistakes so it gets a bit wibbly wobbly
4:07
don't worry just use some white paint to
4:08
tidy back up
4:10
[Music]
4:15
so next up all we need to do now is
4:17
start picking out that design on the
4:18
helmet on the knee pads and on the
4:20
on them there are officially some that
4:22
go down the side of the legs but I'm not
4:24
going to do that because it's just too
4:25
much and I don't like it
4:26
[Music]
4:45
[Music]
4:55
so the last thing to do to finish off
4:57
our marking is to pick out that what is
4:59
better described as the letter i in the
5:02
center of it so I'm just going to use
5:03
some white paint and then just tidy back
5:04
up a little bit of stormfiend
5:08
[Music]
5:10
also on the other what we're going to do
5:12
here as well is get some of that bold
5:14
white titanium and just gently chip the
5:16
arm you could use a sponge if you wanted
5:17
but it's a little bit inaccurate so I'm
5:18
just using the tip of a brush here just
5:20
to pick out some of those chips just to
5:21
make it again look a little bit worn and
5:23
battered
5:25
yeah
5:27
so next up is to base the model like we
5:30
said at the start we're going to go for
5:31
a gene ocean theme just to make it time
5:33
with that blue blue and orange look
5:34
really nice together so it made sense
5:36
here so I'm going to do first is get
5:37
some fondier brown and apply that all
5:39
over the base so when we apply our next
5:41
paint which is martian iron crust when
5:43
that cracks you'll see some brown
5:45
showing through as opposed to a horrid
5:47
white which would just look weird
5:52
[Music]
5:54
so next up is to weather our clone
5:56
trooper and match him in with his base
5:57
and the best way to do that is to
5:59
actually use the base paint that you use
6:00
to base the model so I'm going to do
6:02
here is just thin that down with a
6:03
little bit of water and then apply that
6:05
over those grease to make them nice and
6:06
dirty whilst it's still wet I'm just
6:08
going to get an old brush I can see here
6:10
I've got an old medium base brush I'm
6:11
just going to start Feathering that in
6:13
and that'll just dry it off with the
6:14
Martian Iron Cross now done what we're
6:15
now going to do is get Sarah from
6:16
seeping and we're going to apply that
6:18
all over the base and also a little bit
6:20
onto his feet as well
6:25
and then last up and we're just going to
6:27
bring out the texture on that base by
6:28
dry brushing it with a little bit of
6:30
screaming skill to be fair any bone tone
6:32
would work and I really love the term
6:33
bone tone
6:36
[Laughter]
6:44
and there we are our 501st Legionnaire
6:47
is now completed I've also painted the
6:49
rim of the base in steel Legion drab
