hi I'm peachy and I'm Jeff and as much as you'd like you to think that we come
0:05
here every week to make these videos and Waffle about 40K and major Sigma and other things in actual fact because
0:12
electricity and gas is so expensive we just come here to make the use of of past lights must be very well very warm
0:20
up starting to get feeling downstairs again it's great my legs some people like saving myself a
0:27
fortune every Monday but he's not and that's a reason to support patreon
0:34
[Music] so it's been requested and Pat's working
0:39
on it this could be the first Audio Only podcast that goes out oh imagine the series of that listening to me talking
0:46
he wants to listen to me talking I can listen to the both of us on a treadmill oh if you don't know what that's like
0:52
that's I mean that's like a torture you could just use like one terminal bake on me as a driver to get moving faster than
0:58
it really on that feed mill just like oh God they're still following me they're still talking God moving faster there's
1:05
a montage in there or like you know listening to it in the car and they go and for some reason he just carried off
1:10
the M1 straight into that three we don't there's no sides to see something wrong was you was your husband previously
1:17
suffering with depression he says he watches the painting face podcast
1:23
yeah oh yeah so you never know we might be uh yeah Audio Only mainly uh this
1:29
could be the first one it was coming in your ears oh that's a reference and a half I know
1:34
that reference he's not been dirty he is he is at the same time and we both have faces for radio so oh absolutely
1:42
don't even have a voice for radio so yeah good luck with that I have radio's probably but I haven't got her even got
1:48
a Facebook got a cave painting
1:55
wouldn't be the first time right then so we're going to do a little
2:00
bit of a a bit of a mix-up on this woman so we're going to talk about a few subjects but they are all roughly based
2:06
in the same thing which is either for your own use or for games
2:12
workshops use which is Army creation yeah yeah building and painting on it because it was
2:18
um a bit of a revelation to a few people is that your most recent necron video where you did the lilac
2:28
sounds better said that I was watching my wife try and say it was a music she was just like Nicki
2:34
Mina that's not how you say it darling black so the Lilac dynasty was a paint
2:41
scheme of your invention it was yeah and it was a bit of a surprise to some people when they wanted a macaron video
2:46
to find out that you've done it and the other people they already knew you had and it was it was nice for them to see
2:52
you actually yeah Paint Me In the Flesh so to speak so
2:57
was when did when were you asked to do that was that you're on the Army painter where'd your son won the Army painters
3:02
oh God I'm probably going back to you so it was when the the First new release of
3:09
plastics came out so like the neck on Immortals um the death marks because that kit
3:15
built those as well and you had the Trap tour in the Lich God it was that that that release of yeah it's coming out
3:20
um it was all resin bass at the start because obviously we're working what 12 months ahead and probably even longer
3:26
than that um now I can't take full responsibility for the integration of the nalek dynasty I work with Matt Ward at the time and
3:34
he's a lovely lovely human and anyone that says he's not I will fight you and I will win because it's true he's a
3:39
lovely person um and we work together on that and I I'd come up with a loads of color
3:44
schemes of like different sort of ideas to push necrons away from being silver Green Glow
3:49
mainly silver and Greenway a bit like the first part of that painted video yeah yeah absolutely the classic yeah people remember from the Codex cover and
3:56
then um some some of them like the the dark stone was like a dark green like for like the things that the uh monolith it
4:03
was like like a dark kind of I think referred to as Black Stone because it was Blackstone was everywhere but it's like kind of dark green really isn't it
4:10
black the darker side the dark angel wasn't it yeah yeah absolutely so
4:15
um start playing around with color schemes then and I'd like loads of test models I did like oranges I did like Reds
4:21
um but I really like fell in love with the turquoise and gold which was very reminiscent of ancient Egypt because of
4:27
like turquoise gold yeah yeah I I referred to as turquoise I remember when we did a paint guide for white dwarf
4:34
um this is what I used to love about where we did any kind of projects for white dwarf is the editor you'd say can you write some words for us I'll write
4:40
some words in peachy language obviously a bit low level kind of like the council
4:46
estate human talk um and I was just like yeah hours that's how I sound I mean you know that's the
4:51
way I've always taught um you read it back and it's like yes so after building this Army I decided to go
4:58
down the tones of lapis lazula I was like what the heck is lapis lazuli I know I was like what is this oh it's
5:04
turquoise it's the name for us that's I'd never say that I'm never in a million years I don't even know what it was until just now
5:11
can we put actual people sorry but that one used to get edited by the white
5:16
dwarf editors yeah because it just made you sound like someone smart but yeah sir I went down the ancient
5:23
Egypt route with like Golds and turquoises and yeah start building from there then obviously Matt would come
5:28
back with like some feedback I'll be really cool if you could do something a little bit different with like the the vehicles making me feel a bit older and
5:34
a bit tarnished and I was like so at that time I think we had yellow glaze and after I did like my turquoise
5:41
because we had a limit obviously got a lot more paint now but it was I think so Tech green and then highlighted with
5:46
temple guard yeah and then to try and make it feel of it aged didn't yellowed I use like this yellow glaze all over it
5:53
um and that's really hard to replicate now so because we don't sell it we sell things like the contrast where you can
5:58
thin that down but for our video anyway I thought I'm not going down that route I'll over complicate it even though it's
6:04
not quite how I did it back in the day so yeah so Matt was great we talked
6:10
loads and I think that was the key thing whenever I there are certain writers that I worked on projects with that really sort of got
6:17
the best out of you and listened and chucked in opinions but not in a way that made you feel stupid about that so
6:24
I feel caty Matt Ward was like ones I always look forward to working with because I always liked chucking him like I did but they also knew the limits of
6:31
what you could do so they wouldn't yeah I want this Army uh for this book I was like we don't have a hobby like that it's gonna take ages to make that I've
6:37
only got a week so yeah working with people like mountains have understood because everyone's a hobbyist at
6:43
Workshop but some people have a bit more the better idea that it's a professional as well as just things do you think um
6:48
because it's something I found when uh with creepner a marine Army from scratch
6:54
and it's the first time I've ever done it is the one that I'm currently doing it's like you you start with an idea of
7:00
going right well the color is going to be that and then you get to another miniature and you go oh hang on that's
7:06
now got that bit that was blue but has now got that other bit that looks like it'd be the same sort of armor so that
7:11
would be blue yeah but now that doesn't look like it sits in the right place next to that and that's a thing isn't it is when you are doing your own color
7:19
scheme you start to find yourself getting bogged down a little bit gone well now hang on is that too much blue yeah yeah if if he wears more gold than
7:26
that guy am I am I I've got any space to get any blue in and it becomes quite hard doesn't it I mean the great thing
7:33
with the necrons is um they've got a lot of different unit types and one of the things I decided
7:38
again was the more Elite they got more higher up the hierarchy the more gold they had and so things like the necrons
7:45
which was like the bog standard I think all they had was a little um blue stripe again the helmet was like
7:51
a gold helmet with a little blue straw yeah yeah I think it was like a gold key lime and like a really dark iron and on
7:56
the shoulder pads whereas when it came to things like the Immortals there was more turquoise with a bit of gold and then the litch gold was mainly to
8:02
turquoise with a bit of gold and he had the things like the triac pretorians which were a bit more like bodyguards they they were literally gold with like
8:08
bits of turquoise it was like almost flip reverse to the Lich guard so I started playing around with like Yeah
8:13
the more Elite you are the more gold you get but you still have turquoise there then obviously you get the odd character you're just like
8:20
I'm just gonna have to play this one by ear and wing it so how many um was that for
8:26
did nylac come in for seven uh trying to I think so yeah yeah I'm
8:32
gonna say yes because whenever people refer to which Edition I'm just like
8:37
yeah maybe like what Edition is it now is it nine yeah so it would be about seventh or so
8:44
it must be nice to know that they're still going oh yeah yeah so I mean seeing the stuff and seeing people the
8:50
biggest thing for me is like when I'd go through like the store and into Bookmans and stuff you'd see people like with
8:56
armors and there's like nalak Dynasty hello look weirdly decide to paint the color scheme mermaid that's bizarre why would
9:02
you do that that's a terrible idea but obviously in your head you know you always like want to improve and make things better but seeing people paint
9:08
the stuff that you've done is quite rewarding as a as a Creator and a as an artist as well so yeah must have done
9:15
something right that's still there it's not been blown up yet I mean eventually Nobles might get blown up seeing as I've
9:21
left a few who needs those pointy hatted feathered upstarts well I assume that
9:26
um moving on to the eventually Renewables is that you're were you basically the only person painting
9:33
uh I mean within I mean with it did anybody else within within Games
9:39
Workshop take them in I'll take them on I I'm assuming there's probably so a few people out there who there was a guy
9:45
um so for the Army itself there's definitely a community out there that I mean I've talked to on Twitter and Instagram uh name drop like Josh Wolf
9:52
and uh cygnus Max mistake they're quite big names on Twitter though because we do like it's not huge and I still need
9:59
to put my finger out and do a better job but during the month of November we call it no November and we just paint stuff
10:05
up for for eventually now have I seen that because you were doing uh different um you were doing different sort of
10:11
houses yes so I've taken the Empire city-states and States
10:17
um of old yeah the old world and translated that color into my build and
10:22
eventually enables just to make other random color schemes and I've found quite a few I've still I'm about halfway
10:28
through because I think there's 14 states and cities um some I've done about seven to about halfway through but
10:34
um it's just a bit fun it's just ticking a box just something different and it's inspired me to do when the Canadians
10:40
come out yeah um the one of the recent ones was I think I called them The auslandia Lightfoot and it's basically oslin which
10:47
is like black white and red cool um and I really like them but I've used Deathcore Krieg arms on Canadian bodies
10:55
with the outrod head which is the signature head I've been using for the French house are they are they are they
11:01
still easy to get hold yeah yeah yeah so there's a before
11:07
um the current Ash militarum we had like these Grand Alliance books I forget what they're called it but it was like
11:13
Imperium one Imperium two zenos and chaos is a bit like because age of Sigma when yeah aims the rules they had like these big sort of tomes to get you
11:20
started and in there they still had the rules for Rough Riders now the great thing with buying the outrider pistolier
11:26
set which is where I Source my hands from is you get five Cavalry Rough Riders yeah but you get 16 heads
11:33
so you use five of those on your Cavalry you've still got 11 heads to use elsewhere because I'd already done a
11:39
huge Empire on me I'd already accrued lots of these heads um so I had loads and then I was like
11:44
I'll do some Cavalry I'll do some lenses or like some like hussars or something like that
11:50
um but then they removed the Rough Riders from the Astra militarum yeah great so
11:56
um but I assume that um that old Warhammer set that's no longer
12:02
an existence now it is yeah yeah so it's um they are called free Guild outriders pistol is so well there's someone they
12:08
just yeah yeah I was what I was starting to get really worried about it for you then
12:13
I've been praying that old well brought them back in when you fight well they might do I mean big hats with feathers
12:20
on it's great but I was having this conversation with some Instagram um probably like last night the night
12:25
before and they're like you know I really like the Army I wish I'd had the kits or the money at the time to buy
12:32
it because it's really hard to get hold of and my observation was when I did I suppose I could have communicated better
12:37
was it wasn't about using that particular head to make the eventually enables it was more of a if you want to make your own Imperial Guard regiments
12:43
whatever kit you've been building whatever spare bits you've got from another kit because if you take
12:50
um if you do wood elves and you've got some Eternal guard you'll have Wild Wood Ranger heads or if you do Wildwood
12:57
radios you'll have eternal guard heads if you did a certain type of ironbreaker you'd have like the iron Drake heads if
13:04
you did Tempest signs you remember the helmet should have the barrel heads yeah basically like most of the set you'll
13:09
always have a different head and in the set of 10 you usually get 10 probably more so it's about using those
13:15
alternates that you didn't do with a great one is the um skitari because you
13:20
get the vanguards yeah it's a helmeted head and you get the ranger hooded here I the hooded head looked great for an
13:27
admac but the salad Helms also make cool like uses for Imperial Guard and the
13:33
great thing is as well in in gw's defense at the moment they are really pushing they'll fill every millimeter on
13:40
the spruce yeah so the amount of heads you get them well it's a fair across the boards on in most sprues nowadays all
13:48
those kill Team sets there's double the heads because you can have unhelmitted heads helmeted Heads different style of
13:53
helmets the um blooded there's so many Marvel funny enough for yourself other blood because I bought the um the kill
13:59
team that they came in and you know what I got the ends of bills and that and even though I don't need that many
14:05
because I already own some of what would be the older blood the k um the traitor guard that came in
14:13
um Blackstone I bought them when they put them in a box of the road and thankfully they really match up well
14:19
but when I got to the Enterprise together for my um so actors call to my death guard Army I am
14:26
I was like I don't need I feel like I need to go and buy these again to make the ones I couldn't make yeah yeah because they're just so many great heads
14:33
in there and and the weapon options I didn't choose everyone I didn't choose I then lamented over the one that I have
14:39
the other one because how good it look you know and I thought God I really want to go back out and just grab these and
14:44
yeah you know again you know I think the only thing probably offers I thought I don't really need yoga twice and I don't
14:49
need the Llama sauce last enforcer again but um the rest of them were great you
14:55
know between so many good bits on there them the breaches and the uh kazakin
15:00
they've got a similar head joint the um Deathcore Cree have like a it's got like a weird sort of joint on the neck
15:05
yeah like a you know straight and then down and then the helmet you have to do a bit of cut and paste if you want to do
15:11
some head swaps with those and I have with my venturing Nobles because I want to win grade coats but um but yeah most of them have got that
15:17
little ball socket and the hole so that works quite nice the only thing the only shame that the uh of all them catch any
15:23
with the uh with the death core isn't it is the fact there's not rare other than really the medic uh there's not really
15:28
any requirements to give them another head option yeah yeah they'll just look like that yeah that's that's which is a
15:35
bit of a sad it was a bit of a sad plan but obviously on the clouds hey I think yeah aren't they yeah
15:40
they're like well I think they're like um although the Clones are such are they not like you know Farmers yeah there's
15:46
like they're I think they're all I think they're bred from from humans but they
15:52
grow them yeah that I think the idea to make sure they get us yeah yes which is a better which is a big problem to say
15:58
to me but yeah I will check in as well when I did eventually Neighbors at the same time there was a guy in customer service you did like a couple of
16:04
Imperial Guard bits and Bobs and he played around with like doing the head swap and I was like that's a cool idea because I'm looking at I'm doing
16:10
something similar with mine yeah um and I'd gone with like these magenta cos he had gone with like blue with like yellow
16:15
and stuff so um it was he he had the idea at the same time as well so Kieran uh I'll Chuck his name
16:23
there because I used to when people were like it's like well it's not I mean obviously other people think about at the same time it wasn't like uniquely
16:29
designed to me it was just I the Empire I mean I I liked both Empire and ashimilatoma I just combined kits it
16:35
could have quite eased them in the floppy hats instead oh yeah yeah uh which I've done it you know I wouldn't
16:41
floppy hats and looks fine um but yeah that was a key thing really with the eventually enables was sending
16:46
the message ago you can make whatever regiment you want using what spare [ __ ] you've got and the and the nice thing is
16:51
about uh the venturians like the Nylock they have gone into their 40K Lord yeah
16:58
they are part of I've been the venturians are quite far on the Eastern friends which is uh Buffet range for
17:05
tyranny divisions so chances are they're easily gonna get removed from IP especially now that I probably like oh I
17:13
might I might have to feel like um if I do go down the route of doing some more um a PDF for my Gene Steeler course I
17:20
might have to start doing them as your guidebook that's gone well for a few people have done that and they've done chaos versions and like I I still need
17:27
to do some um some Gene silicone versions as well that would be cool to see God oh yeah it's not been going well
17:33
I think that's the other thing about creating like uh it's like a slight segue but creating like factions of your own if you'd like doing your own hobby
17:39
as I always go on the peripherals of Law and zones so when I was talking in the
17:44
last year about my uh citizen Sigma stuff it was like you've got this area which has been concentrating on these books but I I just went somewhere far
17:50
off um because it's like quite far down the ventrillion the planet ventrilia is
17:55
that's where I started to base all my war zone stuff and my own collection so I did sister the battle which was Argent I always liked the origin Channel scheme
18:02
because it's which ones are they the silver ones yeah they have white robes but I ended up going down like magenta
18:08
the sort of like burgundy robes because they're tied in nicely with with the other gang well I wanted to do like a big Grand Imperial Imperial Army so I'd
18:16
have like the assist in the battle eventually Noble's allied with them um and then I did like a run I wanted to
18:22
do like a spot of spacemans but go down the route of movie Marines uh if anyone at home knows what a movie Marine is is
18:28
back in the day we used to give Marines like super badass stats that you only need five and then three thousand four in War of pipe uh so if you're playing
18:34
against like astrum militarum it makes sense so I used Lieutenant rules
18:39
um for my Marine side five lieutenants in the Army they're all scattered across the army but I marked them up as if it
18:46
was a combat Squad all right so even though technically the rules are lieutenants they all count as like a
18:52
tactical Marine a tactical Arena the sergeant um but they just look more badass and they survive a bit longer in game
18:58
um and I was like what planet's nearby and there's something called pyrus Mundo which means fire planet well some of the Navy like Papyrus
19:05
Monday sounds amazing you translate as fireplanning that's a fight you have to do this I guess at the chapters is called fire
19:12
Lords fire Lords from fire Planet if you get the name of that sausage you
19:17
can leave early yeah all right come on Lizard Man Beast Man fish man this is
19:24
written on the back I've never seen the one box but um but then then the venturians got
19:30
artwork yeah got artwork they got a bit background I um for my sins so the the creation
19:36
eventually nobles was a small internal uh challenge called about a force challenge everyone got given a Battle
19:42
Force they could pick whatever Battle Force they wanted um and you had to paint by a certain day and then it would go into like white
19:47
door for you for promotions and just it was just a bit of fun just to get people engaged because there's a lot of I won't say non-hobbyists but people that were
19:54
working in the Departments that the hobby wasn't they were still quite new to them yeah
19:59
so like a graphic designer or an editor or whatever because if you're a good editor it doesn't matter if you know the
20:05
background is about making sure the words make sense and then going what does nylak mean that's not a word I know
20:11
in the English language oh it's a planet or it's a dynasty oh okay
20:17
um so you know get people engaged in the hobby a bit more and yeah I got the Imperial Guard Battle Force I thought
20:23
I'd do some you know head swaps here and there so encourage people to to go down this
20:29
route and I called him a really Naf name which was I think it was the peach peach Tony and dragoons that's very classic
20:36
well thought out name because my name's Peach and they're dragoons and well you know it's a Utopia they're from so I
20:42
think Topia welcome to peachtopia I'd love to live in peachtopia you're all
20:48
bold unfortunately oh you have to shade so I think I think I could do I think I could swallow that pillow
20:54
but unfortunately the Petra is so good luck with that but if you watch sorry no pester is those pills are so you
21:00
shouldn't be bum no no but yeah that's getting less attracted by the second now
21:07
I think that's that's the tip for the ones that go the other end suppositories what a pester is this oh
21:13
they're going out yeah I think they go somewhere else for your stop anyway
21:20
um so yes I called him a really nice name okay with some enough background um and then Phil Kelly uh because
21:26
they're all getting a small section in the aftermath of time because you've got your main hard hitter things like them
21:32
audience the cat a chance to death called steel Legion I mean you know this little spread of like some of the minor
21:38
ones so we as a team we just came had a lot of fun and made up loads of like random Imperial Guard regiments like
21:43
let's stick a random Vanguard scottari head on a gene super cool guy of a shotgun and call it something I think
21:50
they've got like iridium dragoons or something like oh yeah yeah oh no I think it was an iridium prefects would
21:56
people would suffer from making names up for him but Phil Kelly called them eventually Nobles which sounded Mega and
22:01
then he made a good name it is a good name it sounds very punch I mean like you say you know I remember seeing the
22:06
art in ninth Edition rule book I thought oh that looks nice and then and didn't
22:12
really pay much more heat to it than that and then lo and behold then I'm watching Warhammer uh plus and there's
22:19
you Fielding them yeah yeah against the uh needs of otamus yeah smashing the leagues of photo and playing it snaps
22:27
then I'm lucky enough surprised I got left
22:32
I think I remember almost being on T spitting when that came out and I watched that the first time I think
22:39
there's an element of a young team that I've never watched Dad's Army and just went that sounds legit
22:46
uh but yeah that was that was fun so um it must happen but to say like you
22:53
talking about the fact that there is um the there's uh a group dedicated it must be nice to think that your your
22:59
stuff go goes on in that route yeah I think what's nicer is how people then take it and add to it so initially when
23:07
I did write vehicles I didn't like sort of military gray with like black panels or gold trim on it but I've seen people
23:13
now start doing like gold tanks and I'm like yeah that's that's proper bling there that yeah yeah that's people
23:18
coming out yeah because it's a rich Planet full of all these yeah that's that's the sort of tank that has the word noble attack yeah yeah yeah I mean
23:25
making a tank out of gold it's a soft metal probably not the wisest choice but maybe it's space gold maybe well you
23:31
know good old space gold yeah but yeah it looks great looks more very probably space gold is that when you put it on
23:36
your bride's finger it's just all the knuckles just smash them as their arms
23:42
I've got your ring then weighs 14 Stone I mean someone in the comments gonna go I think you'll find all gold is space
23:48
because it's all everything's in space so yeah well we all know that yeah but it's funny it's different when you say
23:54
space gold it makes it sound Mega um but yeah so it was really it's really nice to see how people have pushed that
24:00
and done their own thing with it as well made their own vehicles or made their own sort of like regiments and stuff do your um
24:06
do you because you in the early days of the Dark Elves are you designed them being in the metal
24:13
suit for them so we did it was when uh so I was part of the army payment team we moved downstairs to Miniatures
24:18
there's a weird sort of like move around the business at one point I'll probably go on a Segway here yeah it might take half an hour it shouldn't it
24:25
um so the the design studio used to be the design studio which had everything in it so sculptures uh writers artists
24:33
painters and stuff like that but then there was this weird sort of split set with that will dedicate an entire Studio
24:39
to be Miniatures and entire Studio to be Publications so anything that was
24:44
written or um you know is word spaced or graphic design based that was something to do
24:50
with a book would be Publications anything that was physical and miniature base would be Miniatures and then things like hobby products which was making
24:57
tools and paints and sprays um was its own separate thing so it was like broken into three departments right and
25:04
this is Army painters we we we we had this whole kind of um I guess debate with the manager at
25:10
the time going well we don't work with Miniatures we work with Publications because a lot of the
25:16
stuff we do is for their books not to paint stuff for the box art yeah heavy metal it makes sense heavy metal to go
25:22
downstairs and absolutely because they they will be talking with the sculptures all the time and going I want this
25:28
particular thing shown and you know because they they still make up the colors that would go on the box art but they'd work with the sculptures a lot
25:34
closely than what we do I mean every now and again I'll build a figure that because you get bags of resin so the
25:39
worst one was the slash hellflow which is the lawnmower oh yeah yeah just get a big bag of resin just like oh great I
25:46
mean this is going to be a jigsaw puzzle and a half if I can fix this I could do anything um so every now and again you probably
25:52
need to talk to a school but that's just a conversation yes go down and ask but mostly armors and collections we did was
25:58
for Publications because you'll be doing like stuff for campaign stuff for like
26:04
um step-by-step guides there's all sorts of reasons for staying upstairs but we went down and we ended up making random
26:11
armies that made no sense and Publications like great we've got another RV we'll have to like jury rig
26:17
into into the Codex somehow or whatever so it was a bit fractious for a time and then I moved up with my mate Steve and
26:25
another guy and we were in a little department and we did like stage for stage guides and
26:30
collections for these how to paint books and the idea and they were really I love them on it it's such a shame they never
26:36
carried on because what the idea was you'd buy codex and at the same time you'd get this little soft back A4 it
26:44
was quite chunky as well yeah a paint guide and there would be they must have came up they must have come out in the
26:51
Gap when I wasn't in possibly yeah I mean but that makes a real shame yeah I mean the first one we did was
26:58
um let me try and remember what the first one I can't remember if it was a space who saw the dark Hill let's give the Space Wolves sons of Fenris
27:05
and it was like here's Ragnar black Mains collection then it was I got Sven
27:11
blood house so I did like loads of tattoos on the armor and yeah made svenblatel which then got made into
27:16
water and then there was a load of background made for him because we're just getting great yeah it was atmosphere seeing all of the thing you
27:21
because that was the thing means to Steve little would kick bash a character and then like Kev chin or Paul date and we'll go cool I'm gonna take that
27:27
character I'm gonna make some art for you imagine drawing a picture of the thing I just made no I'd be that would
27:34
just that's the sort of thing that would really stoked me oh yeah yeah I mean I'm still stoked every now they haven't opened those those books um there were
27:41
little 12 quids uh like to support with but they had their own background so what you do is you'd focus on the main
27:46
faction that was in there and then you do three others um and the dark Elder one there was the
27:53
black heart stroke quarter Strife which was the same color scheme because it's like a cabal and the witch cup and yeah
27:58
same kind of scheme um and then Steve did the cabala the flayed skull so they
28:05
didn't have any art at the time so we just went dark red with like bone and he made him look very pretty and then I got
28:10
Lords of iron Thorn and I was like well they got the name Ein in it we don't normally see metallic no Kilda sounds
28:16
like cool and I was talking to one of the artists he was like you've got to remember that
28:21
sunesh comes from the Elder yeah that's not give away we're around for you so
28:26
because I was like talking with I mean like purple tinged silver almost look too slushy like no that's good because
28:32
slash came from these people so for that for having the purpley tinged armor
28:37
would make sense that slavesh is gone I like a purpley tinged Dome I like pinks and purples
28:43
um so that's why I went down the route of like doing a purpley tinged armor and then I did like red markings I really enjoyed doing like the markings on the
28:49
Helms and stuff and that came with like some ideas for like doing designs on the um the Raiders so I sprayed the Raider
28:55
silver picked out like a flash of like Inky by Darkness a bit of like corn red just to make them look a bit pretty did
29:01
they survive they still exist there's still a color scheme that exists yeah these days by this day are they did they
29:07
make it into do I suppose yeah no they still remember Quorum Kodak yeah they're in Korean codex uh there's even uh decal
29:12
transfer decals okay yeah so they're on the decals and stuff I mean I didn't make the decal someone else yeah but I
29:18
know but still on that square yeah so yeah so it's it's now I think that's what I missed when I
29:24
moved to what my TV was like that being in that Melting Pot of creation yeah and just a couple of ideas and stuff but um
29:30
but yeah there's a fair few things one I think one of my favorite things I did it was such a simple fix was we did
29:38
um I forget how it's called but it was tearing it it was a tyranid's how to paint and it was trying to make
29:45
tyrannies a little bit more so the color schemes that exist are like Cracker Barrel muffler or England and they were more interesting than what they are how
29:52
do you do a variant bayamore yeah yeah because the Bam off is additional sort of like black Bluey kind of carapace and
29:58
reds yeah yeah skin and I went down the route of like making the skin feel a little bit more natural red
30:05
um so it was a bit more organic looking towards like the rides sort of blood Angel armor yeah yeah with orange
30:10
highlights and more fleshy highlights and then instead of it being black or blue carapace I used incubai dancing
30:15
because it's such a nice color and then highlighted that with Grays and stuff so again it felt like more natural sort of
30:21
um kite in bonusque kind of Vibes to it and then markings bright yellow markings
30:27
on on the carapace and um that became quite a firm favorite of like doing markings on carapace to distinguish
30:34
different units because there was a weird and I go into
30:39
it because it was funny so no these big guys used to work in the
30:45
studios who used to be quite heavily responsible for the IP and
30:50
it could be quite terrifying I liked him I got on with him quite a lot I'm not going to name drop anyone here but
30:55
people will know who I'm on about if they'd know um and he he couldn't lose his rack sometimes when things didn't make sense
31:02
because he'd think he'd been quite clear but people didn't dare ask or chat on us because they were like oh what's he
31:09
gonna be like today is it hot or cold and if you had a normal conversation with a guy it was fine yeah because all he just wanted was people just to listen
31:14
and get the general gist of what he's trying to say not to do the exact thing you're saying but to understand where he's coming from
31:20
and one of the things that made me uh chuckle for a good few months probably a
31:26
year was he wanted more identification between units yeah
31:33
um to the point where it would make sense for that race
31:39
um but they some people took it too literal so like through the Imperial Guard you're marking them you're giving
31:46
them Squad numbers yeah you're giving them like different badges to represent different measurements different numbers to represent different squads within a
31:52
platoon to the point where we were asked to do markings on chaos chaos
31:59
chaos the whole word is like why are they ordered why have they got markings that does not go with a name but they
32:05
were asked to like give the market side that we did this uh coronate collection and we ended up like going how are you
32:10
supposed to mark up corn I mean it's they just want to kill stuff they're not going to sit there go what Squad are you on it's got three okay you go over there
32:17
we're gonna go over here no they're just running and eat people and smash them um but we got to this point where we're doing the demons and we had like tiger
32:23
stripes on the legs and thighs which is like one black toe strike represent Squad who represent Squad two three
32:30
represent the squad three it got silly um to the point where we'll do it on Eldar and Elder are these little lines
32:35
on the the like the veins of the vehicles yeah yeah um some of the markings on some of the existing heavy metal
32:42
um um like grav tanks didn't align it with what someone's idea of what it should be
32:48
so I was asked to unpaint them I mean I'd never heard of one painter and I was like I'm not I'm painting uh heavy
32:55
metals models that's not my job I'm sorry I'll just get out my settle on painter and just uh just paint over that
33:00
shutter but yeah there's like this weird sort of like I think no people were scared to to clarify
33:06
um and then I guess he lost his ragmore because it didn't make sense
33:12
um because you were like making like things like chaos which is chaotic ordered and it's not and then things
33:18
like alien races that don't use numerical systems like tyranids yeah they think you should do Miracle
33:24
assistant so that's when I when I was doing these um patterns on the back yeah the way I
33:29
organized them was like this has a certain pattern this has a certain pattern so you have like your three tiring God they have a very well say
33:36
unique book um I I couldn't replicate the same pattern on all three but replicate a
33:42
similar style of pattern yeah three and a different Styler pattern on that it's got another different Styler pattern on
33:47
that Squad well this goes um we talked about this a few weeks ago is that um
33:52
to some degree I think if it if it's not chaos if it's something that is meant to be ordered I think if you're a bank
34:00
average painter as I am I think paying attention to the the smaller details
34:08
carries an army you know it's like um to go back to them again because especially because they aren't a codex
34:15
thing is my um the my son's Knights the forge Marines they all have on there as
34:21
I as I check on me so left me they have um they just have a vertical
34:28
um the the knee is just split between white and red and vertical and then they all have a match a match and numerical
34:35
decal yeah yeah on their knee for what Squad they are and they always make sure they've got the right you know they've
34:40
got the troop thing on and then with them having this black Templar spill if
34:45
there's if they have them on the the standards intercessors they have like them hip plate yes yeah on the left hip
34:52
plate they always have the um the campaign badge or the coat of arms or whatever the heraldry that yeah the
34:58
black samples are so but they'll always be different they don't have to be from the same the idea is that you know it's that you know what the how they were
35:05
brought up and what family but they don't automatically stay that way and I think um and I think sometimes like the bar I
35:12
think getting this thing of having a feeling of them all being cohesive it
35:17
can carry around it can really carry an average paint job I think absolutely yeah I think you just look at them go well all of them badges are where
35:23
they're meant to be they all look like they're part of the same gang and you know they're living on the beat you know
35:28
their feet look like they're on the base they're meant to be on I think and I think sometimes that can you know I think having an orderly look to them
35:35
well if you're taking Imperial Guard I mean like I've seen so many people like some people paint the basic rip at the
35:41
end color for different squats so they're green I mean it from a someone like myself who's very narrative it it's
35:47
quite wow that's bright but yeah that person is playing it that's that helps him distinguish the army that makes
35:53
perfect sense but I've seen people like do that shoulder pad green for squad one red for Squad two blue for Squad three
36:00
or like a stripe down the helmet with Marines as well I mean the great thing with Marines is you do the different trims representing for your companies
36:05
but squads it's a very tough well actually that we went that's how we I went the Dark Angels route with his
36:11
armies viewers the Dark Angels don't ever have a different room color that's true yeah yeah it's always the neat yeah
36:17
yeah and so that's how I went with his as the one with the knee because uh I thought oh you know I don't want to start getting into this thing of having
36:23
because the idea is not a speed painted army but it's cutting as many corners as a can and I thought if I'm spray
36:30
painting all of these guys lead Belcher and then I'm filling the shoulder pads in I then don't have to paint that Rim
36:35
it remains like Belcher I can move on to doing something else and that was the early idea of going well that saved me a
36:41
loads of time and then my brain went let's half the knee into red and white that'll be really quick won't it you
36:47
know it's so gonna remove yourself from the foot you know and then put a tiny tackle on it you know like you know so
36:53
it's not happening at all it's not really improved my situation in this life but it still looks uh that's the
36:58
thing though it does look great when it's done right yeah yeah it does the time invest on that little thing already but the problem being is I
37:05
and it's funny because I I'd like to say old because of my military background which is supposed to some degree
37:11
different color belts include what color stable belts for those that don't know it's like a cloth belt that's worn
37:18
um at the top of the trousers um when you're in um in your summer gear you will see it in your winter gear you
37:24
you won't see it as much and um and there'll be different series of Stripes well I've started with most
37:30
that's representative regiment this is of reg yeah yeah our life started to go down to the point now that um I've
37:35
picked up things like so fast attack wear orange helmet which is a um almost a
37:41
um a blood angels thing because they wear yellow helmets Yeah so these guys will wear orange uh uh heavy weapons
37:48
where black helmet and then I've even gone it's so bad the um the infiltrators
37:54
that came in the kill team one of them has got this uh Servo skull hovering on his shoulder I see it he's
38:01
like Dior spec scanner guy and then there is another one who you can have in there which is wearing all the gear for
38:07
being the comms guy so well them two guys their helmets are blue because they're electronic warfare no signals
38:13
and I thought you know what I think I'm so take myself literally paid myself into God there I mean blue makes sense
38:19
for electrics just like oh God you know you thought because he's constantly there on the
38:25
brink of tripping myself up with it all the time I think that that's the key isn't it it's like you can it's a rabbit hole that you can get oh yeah I mean I
38:32
think we kind of with um I'm gonna skip jump to AJ Sigma a little bit here yeah no please when that started
38:39
um and again I I add opinions and as a business we had to like make it cool but
38:45
also it was trying to align with space rings and
38:50
you had like a cool symbol of for a time it was like the Hammers of Sigma symbol
38:56
was on this shoulder yeah um and the idea was you'd get different shoulder pads depending what chapter or
39:02
storm host it was and they did a couple of little upgrade sets and you could replace the the shoulder and it might
39:08
have like a fist hole in the hammer or it'll be like a comet all right yeah yeah a Sunburst and that represents a
39:15
different um Storm hosts and yeah the other one which represented what it basically
39:20
became Tactical Devastator fast attack and I'm like we're Marines they have the same armor
39:27
right yeah pretty much and they might have a bigger gun or they might have a jump back and pistol in a sword that
39:33
represents different things so they have like the markings but with knights of old when you have a bow you're a Bowman yeah
39:40
the way you have a sword and a shield you're a sword and shield yeah the weapons are no to you yeah yeah when you have like big flying wing spearing a
39:47
javelin you know you're the flyer guy you don't need a marking to tell you they're flying guy because you're already the flyer guy and I thought that
39:54
was such a waste of space you could have done like heraldry on there yeah and like different sorts of ways of identifying you it's in the end it
40:01
became the tabard and the belt but the belt buckle so you'd have like
40:07
um I'm gonna say squat just freezer because I can't remember how we referred to them what the units were but in a in
40:12
a storm house you'd have like different chambers the different chambers would be identified by the plume color so chamber one we read plumes for the Hammers of
40:19
Sigma then maybe chamber two might be rare white or black or whatever but then you'd have like colors on the Tabor trim
40:25
so you have like the scale male tab odds that came down now the trim would be like red for
40:31
platoon one and then depend on the squad will be silver gold or bronze belt buckle all right guys so tedious there
40:38
yeah he's gonna it was cool when we first started it was like this needs some refining and also the point is you
40:45
do get to the thing is you go does anybody who's now looking through the Army book really care or notice because
40:51
it's so subtle I mean the the trim more so but the different colored belt buckles was I think a step too far to
40:58
represent different squads but I mean at the time it was early I mean that this is why our last one about like blowing
41:04
up the old world you could have had more time we could have had more time to Iron out these these flaws yeah it was I
41:09
wouldn't say rush but there was a lot of you know or hands on deck let's get this sorted out as soon as we can so we can
41:16
start like you know getting armors painted because the Army painting team with the stormcast and stuff you had to nail out not only like a huge ham as a
41:24
sigma Army but quite a few other color schemes that again the only painters that helped generate and we had like graphic designers coming with ideas so
41:30
that was that was fun do you still now um haven't been in the hobby for as long as you have do you still look uh
41:38
existing armies and then new versions of them like we know already your plans
41:43
with Canadians but um do you find yourself looking at other things and going or if I was to have a crack at
41:49
that I'd love to yeah do that oh yeah I I can't although I'm desperately trying not to go down the street because I've
41:56
been down the roots of collecting nearly everything and painting nothing before or you know I still constantly Circle
42:02
that the the sisters of battle yeah I'm just constantly just gonna watch you know if I was doing them I would do them
42:08
like this and I would do them like that do you find yes even I I assisted the battle now I have to do him eventually
42:14
Nobles apartment would like to do a order or a my order minoris which is
42:21
settled in that system somewhere and give them black like an armor with gold trim um and like magenta clothing yeah and
42:29
because that would tie nicely with that but I mean I'm not saying that the orders and the chapters and the
42:34
regiments all go that's so we're in this part of this segmentum let's all wear the same dress uniform yeah it's not
42:40
that but from a collection point of view it ties in nicely um but yeah there's there's loads I mean
42:46
the reason why I like the sisters about the origin shroud is because it reminds me of knights of all because they've got like the cool salad help yeah I like to
42:52
wear put the helmets on wherever I can but I got all this armor and then once this painted silver it just looks like
42:57
Knights of old and you've got all the plong air and do stuff with it I think um I think this is the current Runner
43:03
sister's a battle are probably I think maybe other than admac I think they're
43:09
the most 40K looking 40K Army are thinking remember they're so Gothic so I'm gonna do here actually is I'm gonna
43:15
do a quick a quick fire oh my god oh no I'm scared you just I wanted the first
43:21
thing that comes into your head so like it gives our listeners a little bit of an idea of things that you're interested in right so um we'll take um we'll take
43:31
Imperial Guard out of this because we know that children yep your main 40K love and if it's anything you've already
43:36
said that's cool just say it again um if you were doing any army within the
43:42
Imperium what would you do I think I would do uh I've not done it a a whole
43:47
Army before I think Space Marine the other cracker on Space right and then well that's answered my SEC that goes into my second one for me what would you
43:54
do with Space Marine Zone chapter or what somebody who existing uh tricky so there's a lot of existing ones where I'd
44:00
like to tweak a little bit um so the one I use for my own collection was the fire Lords was
44:06
existing I'd like to just go you know what I'm gonna make up my own background and do my my own version okay what I
44:12
think blood age sort of like or um ultramarines look like um maybe use a different type of blue
44:18
maybe use a different type of girl maybe put some more embellishments the CIO is in my brain always thought I don't like
44:23
that blue tone on I love space walls but I don't like the blue tone there should just be like a a proper gray to me yeah
44:28
for the old road Trader color schemes yeah go down that route okay if you're starting a new zealous Army
44:35
what would you have uh well that's a good one I I've done ginsenicals I've done drakari I
44:43
foreign I've got a thing where I like Orcs
44:50
background I like um the models but I just hate the idea of painting them and I did talk about doing a blood ax
44:56
Army following um the here we go here we go um but it had like there's a there's a
45:02
basically a page it's just got like some really cool color schemes I was going to do a kill team of them all right and they have all the back banners so do
45:08
every guy with a bat banner and then also add some like Imperial pirates in there so like an ogre a commissar
45:15
because they are attached as a common sign all right okay so I think if I was to do a xenos army I would go down that
45:20
route and Go full here we go here we go okie dokie um necromonda necromonda oh I've done nearly every gang that's set
45:27
maybe um would I redo again no I'm going yes so I
45:34
was talking to Raph we all love Raph who used to be on Twitch he's still on Twitch uh I just don't know I don't see
45:40
him anymore so I don't know if he exists anymore but yeah because he's just a voice but I was talking to him and what I would like to do is there's a couple
45:46
of factions that aren't covered right now okay which are uh scales oh yeah um
45:52
so back in the day there was like Redemption scalers and rat skin yeah yeah I remember the ratican so rat skins
45:57
at the time were like bass stuff like need to Americans because that kind of vibe to it but I was thinking that's one
46:03
spirit animal they've picked they've picked a rat yeah what about like the mylosaurs or the Ripper Jacks and I was
46:10
looking at the new tarantulas brood which are from war cry yes came in the red Harvest set yeah and making them
46:17
into light and calling them the Ripper jacks so making a gang that bases their
46:22
spirit animal on the Ripper Jack and then just make them as like spider-esque guys that literally wear like bits of
46:30
killed Ripper Jackal so they've got like weird they probably drink the fluids of Ripple Jackson they end up getting extra
46:36
on oh that's really Grim so yeah so yeah deep down to the sump I'd make my own sort of like
46:41
um Outlander gang okay don't play football
46:47
but I do like the uh and I've used maloxa in like sexy body suits is the uh
46:53
athel Lauren Avengers the what else oh yeah probably if I was to pick one
46:58
group out there blood Bowl's not really my bike but I've got to be honest I love the negle for it quite good as well I
47:05
mean yeah it's go like full mad but you got to pick a team that looks cool oh
47:11
Abby you should always go with cool before anything else surely but I I buy blubo not to use a blue ball but she's a
47:17
war cry because they've got so many open hands and it's so rare to get cool Open Hands to like conversions with blue balls yeah I feel good for converting I
47:23
just buy the kits just to use them for like because once you've cut the hands off the actual players you can then replace those hands with clenched hands
47:30
holding weapons yeah absolutely you get not only all these spare hands you can use on other sets but you've also got all these people that are cut off at the
47:36
wrist that are begging for weapons other than to be used for other games so yeah so yeah um that's that's as far as my
47:42
blue ball goes war cry war cry so I've done so many war cry things one
47:47
of the things I still need to do which I've not got around to doing is one of every living every state city or city of
47:54
Sigma I've done one so far and that was one of my things I want to do all the different uh known cities so uh The
48:00
Phoenician temp si uh it's that or something I've not touched while which
48:05
is Orcs because I've got some of the oryx the iron Jewelers I fancied into mind yours but given them bone armor so
48:12
armor they've taken from Monsters they've killed carved it a hammered it into sheet Hammer didn't shape them got
48:17
it on that'd be really cool actually that would be real make a little proper Savage yeah so I've got
48:23
um I've got to say I'm not going back on it I've never I've not done necromondor but I always quite like the idea of the
48:29
uh the fella the ball that the guys in the Della or delicate as I used to call them the delicate I'm a bit at the
48:37
moment's obsessed with that new Psycho oh yeah the big those are the enormous
48:42
hair yeah I keep I keep thinking I like that we know you know that we get that weird thing where you get
48:49
um you like a particular miniature so much you're prepared to start an army before yeah yeah and I'm a bit like that
48:54
with him and I'm wondering whether I could scratch the itch that when I finally get hold of that miniature and whether and just I'm thinking about
49:00
motherhood just making him um uh as a psycho from a Gene's dealer called but I
49:06
do look at that they do have a genius yeah just keep looking at that miniature and thinking oh you know because he even
49:12
got the um that's what I like about nakamanders you get like the gang set then you get like the additional gang set of those cool extra bits yeah the
49:18
deluxe there have like this weird sort of floating brain oh it's like bizarre isn't it I've seen that no what are the
49:24
things from a matrix chord that are like hovering around oh like yeah that the thing I know the things but it looks
49:31
like a bit like one of those you know like a down like with a sword and stuff and that other weird looking yeah they've got some and they've got they've
49:36
got their own surgeon as well yeah yeah I mean you can get like Hangers On which are like generic surgeons but they might have their own
49:43
yeah specific one so well I think that and I was going to go to kill team what you said already he'd like to do a blood
49:48
Dax yeah or yeah kill team I mean if I didn't pick chaos if I was to pick chaos
49:53
because not dunkhouse oh yeah long time I did do a chaos Army back in the day and I made up my own sort of like I
49:58
guess it was coronate yeah um I would go and I'm kind of working on it at the
50:04
moment anyway which is a full-on cultist army yeah that may have a squad of Marines in it a bit like I suppose it's
50:10
like a reflection of my astronomy which is mainly meat bags and some slightly more Elite
50:17
stuff and then of course a handful of Marines I'd probably do this the interesting thing is something about that just gone off on the tangent for a
50:23
minute I've started reading um readings for another time listening to
50:29
um uh the emperor Spears novel yeah and I don't know if you've I'm aware of it
50:34
I'm not ready yes the novel the um the marine and it's about is from um the
50:39
mentors the ones who wear white with the green and the dragon on the shoulder and
50:44
they have this weird thing in there that they um they are often dispatched on their own
50:51
okay and the idea is to go to sort of explore especially since now the do they go off and Mentor people
50:57
funnily enough and the idea is that they go up and find now that this Rift has happened yeah
51:02
some of the planets are lost to go out and look for them um but also the idea that they can be
51:07
used to sort of like try and get an Imperial Guard back online and get things okay I think the idea evolved I
51:13
always like the idea of like an Imperial Guard but with like your uh the captain of the army being a mentor would be quite cool yeah you know or like a
51:20
command Squad of of Marines I think it's a bit like the old uh epic Space Marine kind of visuals and even Road trade we
51:26
have like this Imperial Guard Army marching like almost like the perronix and you have like a couple of commanders in the Space Marine yeah yeah so it's
51:33
kind of cool that nobody always be bad just have the space for me next like a commissioner Captain because you know that that you know you'd be looking at
51:40
the space between going cut these are [ __ ]
51:46
when the inferiority complex I ever ever got one in Northern Ireland when I knew I was now standing about six foots away
51:52
from a guy from the SAS well you would do you just instantly go I'm now just a child
51:59
I guess it has that effect but it's like hey you know stood next to like Dave Andrews is the master of the ears of
52:06
scooped in painting drawing everything building hobby God are you just something thought it was all right so sort of come
52:14
back around again to um Army construction hmm do you believe and I'm it's generally
52:21
the the consensus amongst most people but I thought I'd take it from from here as being
52:26
an expert in the in this field of it really pushing it
52:31
well if you're not the experience amongst the three of us the three of us
52:36
basically I just got I've got a Tombola at home and then this time before a
52:42
project I just get
52:53
um obviously I think so and obviously I'd like to think you think the same but I'd
52:59
like your opinion on it and this is for people who are new to the yeah because that's where we the
53:04
cell not a very serious topic it's not rare you have to you have to paint what you love don't you oh yeah absolutely
53:10
yeah that is there is no point because so you know sometimes people say this to me in the shop and you know because I I
53:16
because I I mentioned before I painted my Barbershop and people go how would you pick and I go well how do you pick
53:23
what you paint so they go well if I'm being utterly honest I I'm in the the the I haven't got that thing of going
53:29
well I paint what I love but I've learned to love what I paint because we bought my son the 8th edition starter
53:35
box and it was Space Marines which is what if we hadn't started with a box if we'd just gone in there and pigs guys
53:40
pick an army off the shelf here to pick Space Marines clear you at the time he was gonna 11 12 year old boy but I ended
53:48
up with death guard I wouldn't have picked death guard yeah because painting a standard marine and death guard says
53:53
like paint the character yeah but I've learned to love them and and there's so there's such cool sculpts amongst them
53:59
but you have to get your head in the gear of going rust and grime and slide I mean that's the thing you could base coat a couple of flat colors and then
54:05
just color in Blood and go yeah and then yeah you kind of saw it yeah so but I so and then as has been mentioned before I
54:12
I won the charity Army and I wanted to see the cult which was which was good because it was of the two armies and 40K
54:18
that I was most interested in outside to paint my son's Space Wolves and other Space Marines and outside the Peyton
54:23
death guard was a lot of Gene seal cultural system so I ended up with it's a it's a funny one it's like
54:30
um I really love the locker Gene's dealer called I just wish I was wish I was clever enough to actually figure out how to play Insane because they're great
54:38
to look up when you go and you really gotta you've got to be thinking for you've got to be nearly enough I I've
54:43
been stumbled by because I built an army and then I've played a game with them I was like
54:50
you've got to be thinking that far ahead like you're actually thinking about putting them back in the Box
54:55
you've got to have played the whole game over your head before it so well for
55:01
anyone who hasn't yet started an army you're going to be sitting there with them a long long time pick what you like
55:06
yeah worry about how it plays afterwards so it's like it's it's advice I've always I mean we used to get asked on
55:11
like the the twitch Channel and just random comments on like Instagram and stuff like you know how do I go about
55:16
picking an army and it's like how long does a piece of string you know you don't pick an army because it's gonna
55:23
win your games don't pick an army because it's the easiest to paint picking on me that you're gonna enjoy building and painting because it's not
55:28
just the painting side of it it's the building side of it and the plain side of it I mean I don't use or build alts
55:35
very often because I don't enjoy painting orgs it's the green skin I know it is maybe I'm a racist and I don't
55:40
know I hate painting green skin it is such I think it stems from an art to do this savage or call me back in the day
55:46
and it was hundreds and hundreds and I hate doing Stone bone and green out to do a Savage organ and it killed me
55:53
um I think it stems from there um but I would never other than like for walk I do a small gang handful I might
56:01
push it and then I'll do like I'll do push on the bone do the bone armor um because that would be quite cool make
56:07
him look Savage but that's a choice as opposed to being made to do like Savage orgs I'm making this choice to do like
56:13
six Orcs yeah war cry um and go in a bit
56:18
Ott with them but yeah pick what you love people the idea I think you want to paint I think thankfully I think now that um which
56:25
whether it's a good thing or a bad thing now that armies are get come out and very quickly to get nerfed if he finds
56:31
out there will be they're playing a bit strong you know leaks of otan got left before everybody else and
56:39
um but I think to some degree at some point in time at the bit I'm I always thought must have been quite sad because when an army was meta control on the the
56:48
tournament scene and you would see lots of these armies I think there is people who are going out and are buying Lock
56:54
Stock an Army in a wanna and then painting it and taking her to the tournaments and you think there must
57:00
have been a lot of guys doing that I didn't even really care what they looked like yeah and I think one of sad things to do to sit and paint a joker for a
57:07
while iron Warrior um Iron Warriors iron hands were crushing it there anything in all them people sitting there painting
57:13
black yeah with not the easiest to Colors no I see spraying yeah yeah I mean I suppose again it's that you know
57:19
that hobby is open to to any kind of like mindset I mean that's not how I'd do that no honestly but I can see no put
57:26
on you if the game is more yeah a miniature because they are the day they do yeah I mean I was talking about this in Alaska where um like ages Sigma to me
57:33
you know when you get into the melee and you're like your character you're really loving you enjoyed paintings trapped if
57:39
I was a tournament player I wouldn't care because it's about yeah I probably won't even got into that position no
57:44
because I'd know how how it all works as a system and and I guess that's the the different sorts of
57:50
um people we aim at it's like you know there's people that want to play a game and win there's people that want to make a story I mean for me if I'm not making
57:57
noises whilst I'm playing but I'm a painting I'm not doing it right and that's and that's not like
58:04
I've just been telling them out if you do what you want but if I'm not going forwards Jabs that's it all the banner if I'm not doing that during the game
58:10
then I can't wait to play kids but that's it Smithers that's it uh hold
58:16
the banner glad good loud oh he died then pick up that battle yes Jones then
58:21
all I could of them do they uh no they don't apparently um but yes I mean if for me if I'm if
58:27
I'm playing an army I'm not doing that I mean I find it quite hard resist the battle because I've got to put on a lady voice and I don't and through this lady
58:33
boys hellfires
58:39
I don't think many sisters about a sound like that but in my head they do uh so people have been coming for doing stupid
58:45
Impressions but my son likes it and that's all I care about absolutely right so we agree then
58:52
um to sort of rounds up I think too we agree that pain what you love yep
58:57
definitely consider really getting any kit in your bit box oh yeah yeah you
59:02
know learning to look outside your range yeah I think it is sad and I can quickly understand it so I'm not gonna you don't
59:08
have to get in touch and tell me why because I I understand I think it is sad to some degree that you can't stick at
59:15
it and 3D printed on top of something you already own a tournament yeah that's a shame because there's some amazing
59:20
companies producing some amazing stuff back in the day your tournaments or like games in the hall was like as long as 70
59:27
of the model was workshop and now now it's the only thing can be 3D printers is what's on the base isn't it I mean
59:33
even so it's like you know if it's a plume you can't get plumes and you just want to 3D printed plume I mean
59:39
yeah I mean and this is I think sometimes the problem within with within Warhammer is that they'll go none of
59:45
that thank you and you go well that's fine you bloody make it then and I won't buy the yeah I will buy the pirate one
59:51
my uh I've just put it um primaris uh Repulsor executioner together and I got
59:57
3D printed Templar doors for it and I think you know what as I quite happily drove up to Warhammer world and as I
1:00:04
bought your one yeah I mean I suppose that could be a conversation for another chick really which is like you know what is the future because I foresee 3D
1:00:11
printing becoming a quite a big thing I think at some point workshop's gonna have to relent or make more of the stuff
1:00:16
so it doesn't get 3D printed it's I think there's a challenge for sure yeah you know and you know and I don't want to go too far into it now but you know
1:00:22
we think just thinking you could just be games where chuck could just be producing STL files or every single
1:00:28
blumen door for every Marine and everything under the sun they build them do you put them out
1:00:34
there's a file you buy them and the the their outlay is extraordinarily low and then people won't then go to people like
1:00:42
pop-up Wars as much as public wall stuff's amazing they can go and get there and then go well I now I'm not
1:00:48
sweating it when I go to a tournament yeah you know but um yeah so I think I think it is a little bit of a shame that
1:00:54
when it comes to building your own armies you you if you want to be a tournament player you've got to be a
1:00:59
little bit you've got to be a bit either put something on that no one's going to notice yeah well you've got to be a bit
1:01:04
canny with it you're gonna have to be a bit cunny with it as to how well about it at least it's not like the mid-2000s
1:01:10
where there was that guy that tournament that uh because it became his Workshop product he photocopied every single
1:01:15
nickel off the back of the books cut out in cardboard and stuck on a round base still classes against Workshop did you
1:01:21
see the guy who was big that was his Geniuses see the guy who's making the macarons out of the sprue no you know
1:01:28
the sprue that's not surprising effort you know the frame he was making the necrons out of that and he said it's
1:01:35
Games Workshop that's certainly not wrong I'm not the idea if I build this space for me Barney
1:01:40
and he got it and he got a necrom up yeah at the same time that's genius just like yeah
1:01:45
armatures out of like uh Supreme and there was a picture of someone playing
1:01:50
kill team with joy toy tyranits oh wow yeah like obviously massive but okay
1:01:56
yeah absolutely ago and you will be able to just eventually feels an army because they're
1:02:03
bringing it I was hand overfish and you're going to get some of those death call yeah I think you know it's just I
1:02:08
think you're going well you know where are we going to set up this 18 by six foot board that's bedroom
1:02:16
because that's how long his bedroom is all the mirrors is
1:02:25
for his beard isn't it really it's early I can't make sure his bead looks good from all angles
1:02:30
absolutely I spend enough time on it no yeah I can tell yeah and usually it's very you know I like to think it goes I
1:02:36
like to think at the end of the day after being in the barbershop that beard goes home to a good home do you uh take your work home with you and do with your
1:02:42
bushes in your garden just like have a nice bit of tote oh I always wondered where that was going talking to bushes yeah he's naked again
1:02:49
oh very cold today though apparently he's still he's still got them he's still got them toe scratches on her from
1:02:55
uh from the old age president for me I can't just say we're not going to kill on that subject again I think I killed the end of that
1:03:03
um no I don't no uh and uh I've got to be honest now I've got to the points where I've become such a diva over
1:03:08
Barbara and that I make the children come to the shop to have a haircut I will cut their hair at home it's just a
1:03:13
mess what the hell get anywhere in the house well well it is that we're we're wooden floor so it's not so much of a problem
1:03:19
it's just the fact that now I'm so used to the chair being where it needs to be the height that needs to be the tools being really I can't bagging them up and
1:03:27
say you know friends of mine going oh well then you come around will you be here and I'm like I'll quite happily be in the barbershop a half nine and I can
1:03:33
cut your hair yeah but I'm not bringing them around to your house no it's a nice scent it's got my son's hair I have a set of Clippers I'm like right it's time
1:03:39
for your hair because yeah it was rice because he knows he's gonna get a dad because that's the only style I can do
1:03:44
well you don't mean like you talk to like a one and a half on the sides and then a zero through the test so it's
1:03:49
exactly bold so do you want a Christmas haircut like mine and he cries all the way through no I don't actually cut all
1:03:55
his hair off I just like trim it down around the top and I was going to start
1:04:00
that's gonna be throwing there for the number for the nspcc hey a quick one before we go so I
1:04:07
remember once when I was a kid that was it primary school I woke up my dad cut me hair because it was the old you could
1:04:13
get a bowl on your head and cut around a bit you know that old classic and uh it's true it's almost like when I hear
1:04:19
people say that that's like war crimes for me and I don't know what he was doing and I still need to find out
1:04:25
exactly what was in his head but I think maybe I was getting more hair grow in the middle here well it won't be well
1:04:31
between getting the older Uno brow and become a guy like a brother they probably yeah and I think he was
1:04:36
probably trying to do me a favor and move stuff but he got a bit off my eyebrow so he tried to neaten up on the other side to the point that he ended up
1:04:43
seeing off my eyebrows because it looked mad and I don't I didn't notice at the time but then I woke up the next morning
1:04:49
because it was school it was like Monday and I just like looked everyone I don't want to go to school there's something wrong with me I can't work out like
1:04:56
Words David Bowie they had no eyebrows uh because some of the um start don't
1:05:04
say this into a ballroom podcast so so some of the howlers that I've seen in
1:05:09
the barber shop where it's either children have found scissors I was always a winner and they never find
1:05:14
scissors and go round the back with them or like over their ears or they just go Fringe and somebody's bother go you come
1:05:21
in and you know something's going on as when when the person or the child is wearing a hat so the last millisecond
1:05:28
before you get in the chair you just I'm cutting the hair and there's a child behind like a big Woody hat on this July
1:05:34
and I'm cutting the hair and I'm thinking
1:05:48
what can you do with that you found me clip with me beard trimmers and there's a big chunk facility to the skin and
1:05:54
then I always say well I can cut it all to that length and then they look at me horrified and
1:06:00
go is there nothing else you can I can make it grow is there nothing else you can do and I can find me someone to go
1:06:06
well if you can give me an idea of how I can get my way out of that you know what I'm all ears or or dads come in and have
1:06:14
decided to cut the children's hair and I always use the same expression I would always go
1:06:19
um they go uh yeah can you sort us out I had to go away and it you know and it's
1:06:24
not gone very well and then I start cutting the hair and I always go what you do for a living dads and they go um
1:06:30
home electrician and go ah it's funny that because those I'll you know I've got no training I haven't really got the
1:06:36
right tools but I've been given real thought to rewiring my own house and it's at the moment we're having a bit of a flood problem but it shouldn't be a
1:06:42
bit of a shouldn't be a problem if I crack on with it should be another guy goes oh mate mate no no don't don't oh
1:06:47
okay yeah yeah makes sense so uh you know yeah
1:06:53
absolutely anyway finishing weirdly on a note of Barbara well any yes barbering
1:07:00
barbering so if you want to get in touch with us you can deal many many ways we have of
1:07:08
course the socials such as Twitter Instagram painted phases also on the Instagram and The Tick Tock we have our
1:07:14
like And subscribe which we did forget to mention at the start of halfway through press it please yes don't have
1:07:19
to press it but it just helps us if you press it patreon's going well patrons yeah I mean we have many uh benefits of
1:07:25
using patreon obviously of supports us keeps this lot going anywhere on the show name on the show um I mean the the
1:07:32
community is going really well yeah so yeah yeah so there's Discord yeah yeah that's it like the Discord Community I
1:07:37
mean we're always there Pat's there a lot yeah yeah um I I jump in every now and again people asking me questions about paint and stuff so yeah we have that uh
1:07:45
how are you doing on um getting photographs in for still waiting for photographs people are paying people
1:07:53
probably scared of what I might say like oh it looks like it's painted by a dog I would never say that I would never say
1:07:58
it but the fact that they paid for it well as you've paid for this service ready and wait that's the painting phase
1:08:06
email address that gets linked to you so yeah please do that and then you're one-to-one so you've got one zero.com
1:08:12
six left I think is it now six out of six yeah yeah no it's not six we're trying to make himself really exclusive
1:08:19
I did this to be last week I was like there's only six left as far as people know it might be like a haunted lady
1:08:25
everybody was down so that's and you always go out of six honest to God then when I leave can you
1:08:32
have a weird path not like written warning but you know just like you know variable
1:08:39
the next is I've got a handprinted
1:08:44
it's like a red-handed ceremon Cubs patterns they're better than bad another the whole video with a pair of
1:08:51
sunglasses on side that's right now I just look cool but yes yes please
1:08:57
support us on those things yeah that would be really appreciative I hope you enjoy me I have waffling like an affiliate links as well oh yes [ __ ]
1:09:12
so good and then of course we have uh affiliate games and many more I mean we're look we're getting uh we print
1:09:17
minis as well we're getting a affiliate link with those so if you want to get yourself a discount on uh 3D printed models there's quite a range I mean we
1:09:24
did our Roger playing a marine video on those guys and uh just looking through
1:09:29
the library of stuff those guys have got I mean yeah if you're doing D and D or zombie based games rather than the
1:09:35
symptom for you isn't this on the cards I'm looking at Pat because we are planning on doing it we will be doing like a paint Garden DND I don't know if
1:09:41
we should shut it out there because you know life might go in the way and prevent this from doing it but it's on the cards there's lots of things we want to do but yeah there's so many nice
1:09:47
models to pick from and they um I'm just gonna pitch we print minutes quickly and they actually print the
1:09:53
things it's not STL so you guaranteed to get a deep decent um print out cool so
1:09:59
um if this has turned out to be the first other podcast
1:10:04
I hope our valvertons have kept you on the treadmill or on that long journey in the middle of the night my velvet tones
1:10:12
coming in your ears Chris Peach don't look out the back window it's
1:10:19
behind you it's following the car put your foot down it is true if you say my name three
1:10:25
times in a mirror I will appear behind you that's true really yep good because I've got loads of stuff that need to paint oh
1:10:31
no name is oh my God summoned again anyway
1:10:39
on that note if you were watching thanks for watching if you're listening thanks for listening and for putting up
1:10:45
with another week's worth of waffle yeah we love you all bye bye and he's gone
1:10:52
there we go
